Never thought id actually join a forum about this but I need to get things started already

I'm 14 years old(turning 15 in like 2 months >.<) In Vancouver, WA.

I have not opened up to my parents (My goal for this is to tell them before I hit 15)

Ive known ive wanted to be a girl since I was 7 and honestly gave an effort into telling myself I was wrong for my parents sake (I've dated plenty of girls made a lot of ''manly'' friends and currently play golf) But these 7 years have passed and it is slowly eating away at me and my feelings have only grown stronger.

Very slowly I have been prepareing for my transition. Currently I weigh a meager 104 pounds and I plan on halting calcium consumption when I begin to reach 5'8-11 or so.

I have also known what name ive wanted since I was 9 and that name is Sophie. That name still holds true to today

My current plan is to start hormones at least 3-5 months into age 15 Transition at 16-17 and grow my hair to a good length. Money is not an issue to my parents so I can afford the surgerys whenever I feel it is the best time for them

If anyone could help I am currently having a hard time finding a therapist. I wish to find one BEFORE I open up to my parents to save them the hassle. I have tried looking at online therapists but they have a dreaded legal age requirement of 18+ so those are out of the question.

Hello and WELCOME. You are at exactly the right place. I live in a different part of the USA but gender therapist can be found with a little looking around. It's a problem for someone your age as you WOULD have to have parental agreement. But you are certainly on the right track about seein a gender trained therapist!

You may want to post in the teen forum and see what other's your age do.

Ia m with you time is important,,

but sweet,i think you know that many steps at TG. are not retreat able

so please take you time,

and as I see your parent is understandable,by open mind as I feel,,

why you not tell them and speak,they will be best one to help you,,

something like TG.,hormones it is so risky at your life,if you not find true help

from specialist,and therapy as will as psychlogic. to not face any regret about any step,,

you are going to construct your future life for all long life

so I think you need to use wise steps,,

I am not say leave everything no way,,but take steps directly by wise

way,,you need close one to help you,they take too care for you,,

you still young so you have time.

Welcome Sophie!!

Isn't it nice to hear someone else say your name? I can see that you have been doing alot of thinking and are working on transitioning the right way (via a gender therapist). I am not aware of any gender therapist that will see a minor without the permission of a legal guardian. I'm afraid that you will have to discuss your gender identity with your parents first, and then a gender therapist.

One thing that I would suggest is that you relax on your timeline (so as to not pressure yourself). When the time is right and you feel ready will be the time to come out to your parents. It could be tomorrow, next week, next year, etc. Who knows? You will know when it is time. Let it flow.

In the meantime, I would love you to continue to post onto the forums sweetie and get to know us, and yourself more.

You have gotten some good advice, it isn't a race so moving slowly and deliberately is a good way to make sure you find the right path - hire a guide (gender therapist).

I second what Sally said.

Take your time, you should enjoy life, not make it into a job. I know it may sound impossible, but there are some people who've waited a long time before they transitioned. I'm like you, I want to change as soon as possible. My parents can financially afford everything (90k+90k for my dad and stepmom to be and 60k from my mom). My mom knows, she is "okay" but not really supportive. I have to wait until I'm 18, or so she says. I turn 17 in three months. it seems like forever but you start to notice (or I did anyways) that time really flies. One minute I'm sitting in my fifth grade world history class watching the puberty video with the other gals, I blink, and now I'm a junior in high school making plans for college and the work force. Just take your time, dont rush because it will happen pretty quickly when you go through with it.
