Let's Twist Another Fairy Tale..

First of all I'd like to say that I am going to say things in this thread I haven't told ANYONE.

Let's start off when I was younger.I never liked dresses, never liked dressing up and having to act like a girl. I'd always be the dad when we played house, or another role that involved a father-like/strong presence. I felt more comfortable being regarded as one of the boys and at the time my extreme Tomboyish behavior was pleasant for me. I was content. As many people here I am sure questioned whether or not I should actually be a boy. That was a common thought when I younger. Of course at the time it was all wishful thinking because I was young and didn't really understand those feelings.

I continued on that way until my early teens. Then I went through extreme weight loss. I lost 30 lbs and gained back a feminine figure. That combined with makeup[which I LOVE] sent me through this period where I really liked being a girl. Now though I feel like I'm a boy, but it keeps going back and forth.

Which is why I'm totally confused.

BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE!!![lol]

There is definitely things that change depending on which sex I feel like. Even if I chose not to cross dress, when I feel like a male I usually either dress really spiffy, as in dress shirt dress pants etc etc, or with baggy shirts and pants. When I feel more like a girl I'll go for tight clothes, more feminine and then I enjoy picking out clothes and doing makeup. My mannerisms change almost like instinct, posture, voice, facial expressions and what not. I tend to me more sarcastic when I feel like a guy. When I'm a girl I'm ditzy, zoned out and naive. At first I didn't notice this, but as of late I acknowledged it.

BUT WAIT WHEN YOU BUY THIS WE WILL INCLUDE:

To add to my confusion I had this realization. When I hang out with GUYS I like I tend to feel more like a guy. This leads me to believe that my male side is attracted to men, and likewise with females. So I feel like my male side likes men and my female side likes women. Now I am confused as to what sexuality I am :/

I always believed that I transcended gender, because if I try and associate myself with one gender it'd end up being like:

I feel like a guy in a girl's body, who wants to be a girl but also a guy but wants to cross dress etc etc.

So I really just needed to rant about that. Any ideas for poor me?

Quinn.

Actually? This is NOT an indicator of sexual interest.

Genetic , heterosexual men "prefer" to hang out with "the fellas" all the time. Its the subject of 90 million sitcom skits . Man has wife, man lies to wife to go fishing/shoot basketball/ play cards/ go to the race track with the fellas. Believe me , they "feel" like guys the whole time. That does not mean they are attracted to men. (And I dare you to try to say it to one of em and not get punched out :P)

Unfortunately, we live in a time where the pressure is to make "everything" sexual for you guys (meaning young people); "I like hanging around you, that must mean I want to have sex with you" . -NO. It means you like hanging around em. The "feeling more like a guy" I would speculate is just being able to feel that part of yourself more clearly because its a male environment; you are experiencing what it is to be "one of the guys" after all; thats called comaraderie.

Same thing with hanging out with the girls. You're experiencing a feeling of "sameness". Not sex.

In the world we live in people are getting away from "what is it to be a friend", "what is it to be comrades" , "what is it to feel akin" . They think all of those things are "sex". They are not :( And if it turns into a world where everything "means" sexual interaction, I for one "want out" IMMEDIATELY. Because thats not being a human

Anyway. That clears up that. Now, if you say, "while I'm hanging around with the guys I can't help but look at their rippling muscles and wanting so and so to press up on me" well that would be sex lol . And I'd call it bisexuality if you also were trying to "feel up" "Suzy" accidentally on purpose without her knowing that you were  .

We are on the verge of losing friendship as a word and a concept.

Evan is right, each generation is getting more and more programed to believe that sex is the only reason to even speak to anyone.

Now we are approaching not even bothering to learn their names afterwards.

Wouldn't anyone like to just be a friend anymore?

I remember sitting in a pancake house at three in the morning just talking to a girl I knew and other nights it would be with a guy and I felt like we were having a good time but now - I see the error of my ways - I am a virgin so my life has been totally wasted - wrong!

I just have more on my mind than sex and it even makes it easier to transition without that extra burden.

Love ya,

I just love the fact that everyone can like understand on some level :D

I definitely worded the last part wrong :/ I meant to say, 'when I like a guy[as in attraction] it usually happens when I feel more masculine.' As in if I hang out with them and I feel more like a 'female' I might have a 'crush' on them but I don't feel anything sexual.

BLEH I'm just a confused person D:

It would be so much easier without labels, but that's why I'm here!

Hey Quinn

What your going through sounds perfectly normal, very few people know exactly what there likes and dislikes are .

Many people have to experiment (some for years) to find the correct path to make them happy.

Just take your time and don't be afaid, the world is becoming more accepting every day.

And don't fall into any stereotype, just be yourself and find what makes you happy.

Thanks Jean :D

I really finally fully decided today, that from now on, despite doubts that I have, that I will be who I need to be. Regardless of what exactly it is.

I can't wait for school to start, which is when I can fully embrace it, like a new start. But I know I'll probably end on here alot, people at our school aren't exactly....open-minded.

Thank you guys for making me feel less...weird, I've been feeling like an odd one lately.

Remember just as beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so is normallity (Is that even a word, Oh well I think you know what I meen)

What is normal to an individual or to a group of people may not be to others.

I always believed that I transcended gender, because if I try and associate myself with one gender it'd end up being like:

I feel like a guy in a girl's body, who wants to be a girl but also a guy but wants to cross dress etc etc.

Is your gender always male, and you just want to express femininity, or do you actually feel like your gender itself actually changes when you feel like you want to be a girl? A lot of guys do crossdress and there's nothing wrong iwht that- but there are also people whose gender actually changes from male to female depending on the situation or just at random.

We are on the verge of losing friendship as a word and a concept.

We really are. Already fandoms have lost the concept for "Those two characters spend so much time together because they're friends" (I'm just as guilty of it as anyone, not insuting anything).

It used to be "Men and women can't be friends". Eventually the sexual tension will get too great/they're only your friend to try and get in your pants/you really like them, you just won't admit it/etc. As homo/bi/pansexuality get more accepted, and people become more aware that a guy can have just as big a crush on another guy, we really will end up either with "You can't be just friends! That's for kindergarteners and aromantics".

Hey Quinn,

I just want to say...yay someone just like me!!!! I've searched far and wide...*whew* it was a long hard search.

As a child I wore short hair, boys clothes and was the "tom boy".

As a young adult I was with a woman in a long term relationship with a woman and so my clothing and other "presentation" preferences was just passed off as "oh she's just a a small levee"

Then I got with a man and felt all feminine and lovely, wore skirts every day, long hair for the first time in life

And now? Well? Now..I'm a confused ball of mess. lol!!! but at least I'm not the only one. And neither are you.

Mother's Day, so I thought I'd do the right thing and cook. So, we got Chinese takeaway! 😆   Actually, we planned it days ago, just thinking that tonight we would treat ourselves. Complete with a lovely bottle of Cab Sav.
    • Mirrabooka
Exactly.   A plain old "Good morning" should always suffice, for example, whether the recipient expects a gender specific greeting or not.

Hi awkward yet sweet, yeah, I tried dumping her but my current health insurance keeps directing me back to her as my primary, yet there are other doctors to choose from, but they are far away.

This sort of stuff makes my blood boil. A prospective state politician has gained approval from his party's state council to run in their state election next year.   He once stated that the + part of LGBTQIA+ is where pedophiles are categorized.   For clarity, in Australia the Liberal party is our main conservative party. They have lurched further to the right over the past 10 years or so. Our main progressive, union backed party is Labor.   WA Liberal party approves Dr Thomas Brough, candidate who linked LGBTQIA+ community with paedophiles - ABC News

Happy Mother’s Day    I have to be at church earlier than normal for a mic check.  I have been going over what I am to say, both silently reading and reading it aloud.  My concern is that my voice will freeze as it sometimes does.     I felt I was honored very highly yesterday by my minister and supporter on my journey.  He and another minister are Standing together to become the next co-moderators of the Presbyterian Church (USA).  They included me to receive an advance copy of their initial submission.  I was one of only 6 people listed on the email to receive this.  Later this week it will go out to all the voting commissioners that will be in Salt Lake City for the meeting.  I have asked to be allowed to attend the meeting to support him and Rev CeeCee Armstrong, whom he is standing with.    We’ll time to get ready .   Willow

Nup. Not an option. You need to keep going and keep us all in the loop, and we need to keep seeing your beautiful smile!   Party, schmarty. I'm 61 and haven't had a birthday party since I was 30. Even that was just a crummy meal at the pub with a few friends who we have since lost contact with. Don't sweat it.

On behalf of everyone reading your entries here @Sally Stone, THANK YOU for creating such an informative thread. But there is one thing you might have neglected to say at the end, and that is, "And they all lived happily ever after!" ❤️   Reno sounds like a pretty good place to call home. I understand the attraction of living in a place that is not too big but not too small.   I look forward to reading your subsequent posts about specific aspects of your journey.

Hi and welcome. A few things...   1. You're right, you can't trust your friends w/r/t the question of passing. How would they even know if you pass or not? My sister used to do the same thing, telling me that no-one knew I was trans and that to her I just looked like a cis woman. I still don't know if she was serious or just trying to make me feel good, but I learned to not listen to her on that topic.   2. Buuuut, having said that, I thought I looked good, and I think that is all she was really trying to tell me, that she liked how I looked as a woman. Maybe this is obvious, but I feel it gets overlooked: passing and looking good are not the same thing, not even remotely. Your friends (I presume) are trying to tell you that you look good as you are.   3. Having said all that, I think non-passing transmascs have a harder time than us non-passing transfemmes. All I have to do to get gendered correctly 95% of the time is wear a dress and makeup and only a few seriously ignorant folks and diehard transphobes misgender me. For you, it's much harder to find signifiers powerful enough to send the same message.   So in short, I don't have any answers, except that you're right, it sucks, and I hope the situation improves over time. But passing isn't everything. Maybe you're right, and in a less conservative state it wouldn't happen so often, because you'd have more people like you surrounding you. I know that where I chose to live while transitioning has been a big part of making the process a positive experience. I'd hate to be in Texas atm.

Thank you, ladies.   At the time I went from euphoric (my normal state) to not euphoric in an instant, and the lingering thought was one of self-doubt, manifesting itself with the unsolved question that maybe I never really felt like I had the soul of a woman, I just thought I did. I know I'm not the only one to ever feel this way. All part of the ride on this roller coaster I guess.   Yep, and yep. Makes sense now.

@Ladypcnj, I found finding a doctor with a good understanding of "intersex" is quite challenging. My current doctor lectured me about the dangers of the testosterone treatments I underwent as a teenager, yet I had no choice in the matter as it was orchestrated by my parents and a sports doctor (I would have never done it in my own).    Having "extra parts" inside and their first suggestion is to remove them because they "might" become cancerous. I'm sorry, but no one is going to remove my uterus unless there is a clear reason to do so.    Then being referred to a psychiatrist to "treat" my gender dysphoria?   Other than a diagnosis of intersex, I find most doctors today are quite vague in understanding how to treat things. It's not something that need fixing, but rather understanding, and each individual case is special.    I know who and what I am, my current care team fails to grasp that.

Welcome. I know the pain of misgendering, the best way to feel better is to work on yourself and self-acceptance as we still have the curse of the body not matching the brain and although we can make some physical changes we still have to work with what wee have.   I also agree that you are still young and you have not gone through all the changes yet your body will. So hang in there.
