Embarrasing Dating Stories :)

what the silliest thing you have even done while dating someone, or talking to your crush, or just being in the presence of your crush. i know someone on here has to have a funny story, and i want to hear it. :P

i just thought this might be a fun break from all the seriousness.

i'll tell one of mine. this one worked out, obviously. its the classic freudian slip.

i had a HUGE crush on Deeedoo, and i was trying to get to know her by being her friend. i didnt want to be creepy and just suddenly ask her out, so i thought i'd warm her up to me a bit B) . we were friends for a couple of weeks, and we always hung out together. one day a girl saw us sitting together on the band bus going to a game, and she asked us, "aww....are you two dating?". Deeedoo and i were all embarrased and shy, and i know i had to say something. i didnt want to sound like i was rejecting Deeedoo (obviously ;) ) but i couldnt just say yes. the two thoughts, not having time to get organized, sort of fused together. i said, "no, not yet". my face looked like a beet and i just buried my head in my lap. Deeedoo said that it was ok, but we didnt really talk about it, we were way too shy and girly. the rest is a story for another day, but needless to say, everything turned out ok, but wow that was embarrassing. of all the times for Deeedoo to be a girl, it just had to be when i was liking her, so we were both helpless and not knowing what to do. scary then, but funny now.

so if anyone else has a cool story to tell, i'd love to hear it. it doesnt exactly have to be on topic, random funny stories work just as well have fun :)

Now THAT is cute and you belong together.

I dunno ...doesn't qualify as a dating story. More of a "hook up " story. I used to work for this apartment complex. Along the way this certain young woman came for an apartment. She was GORGEOUS and straight guys, gay women, I think even a few squirrels even followed her around cuz her body was outrageous. Because she had an infant with her when she moved in I "assumed" she did cis straight guys. Relegated her to "fantasy bodies" and moved on. Way later, when I wasn't even working there anymore, I was in a gay nightclub with my lesbian cousin who because she was sloshed wanted help gettin into the bathroom  The club was PACKED and the bathroom was all [butts] and elbows. As I was leaving, in the crush, I get knocked into a stall because I'm tryin not to fall on this little short girl in front of me. The short girl falls in the stall too. Full frontal and face to face. You guessed it, miss hot. How often do you get pressed up against the front of a hot girl you lusted after and have to take no blame for being presumptuous? Needless to say, the situation and the comedy got the number, time with her while we were there, and hook up after.

I was single and had been for a while - although my son was living with me at the time , a junior in High School. He was dating and had a serious girlfriend and I was just on hold I guess. I think he needed me out of the house on weekends... hummm... wonder why? He convinced me to start dating again and I got set up for this blind date - OMG - too OLD to be doing all that and TOOOOO out of the loop. So I had this need to be able to duck out - in the event there was no chemisty, you understand. This girl I was set up with - woman actually - obviously had the same need. We talked on the telephone anonomously of course, for about three weeks.

Well okay - fabulous voice! But she was 100% Sicilian Italian - oh my. I invisioned a dark skinned, dark haired Italian woman - maybe like Cher (she's really Lebanese I think) but very 'Mediteranian." Oh my

So we agree - time to meet. We decide to meet at the 'duck pond." A meeting place that is commonly used for people meeting for the first time, a cooling pond at the Mall - near a HUGE live oak tree, and a pond full of ducks who came but never left, and kids feed them and the mall people do too. A nice neutral spot.

'Hi - nice to meet you!' type place - 'ya wanna get coffee?' Or - 'well gotta go shampoo the rug...' that sort of option.

So I get there early! I bring bread crumbs - I feed the ducks. A few people come and go - then this beautiful woman shows up - gets out of her car, looks around, doesn't look at me - but I can tell she is very good looking, green eyes and pale white skin - oh my. Then she gets back in her car ! DARN! Too bad I can't go talk with her, I have to wait for this Italian woman to show up.

So I wait. Others come and go... nearing 6:30, when is this lady going to get here? Then exactly 6:30 - that pretty lady leaves her car and comes over to me - "I see you brought bread to feed the ducks!" She had been watching me. Later she told me she was not sure who I was, her friend had said I was a big person. She thought that meant heavy set, not tall and regular size like I really am.

We got married a year and a half later. That was 10 years ago...

She has made some adjustments... I guess I have changed a little bit... but she has the prettiest green eyes and the purest white skin! I do love women you understand...

I've got a few.

Guy was trying to teach me a ballroom stunt, called "the can opener" i think... But he was holding me, legs in one arm, torso in the other, and he was supposed to throw me, then i put one leg over his head, then he drops my torso, idk it was complicated. He goes "ready?" I go "ready". He counts down to 3, throws me, i freaked out and kneed him in the face.

It was embarrassing but kinda funny then, but now we are pretty much mortal enemy's, so its like heh heh heh..

After we break up he invites me to this dance. He does all kinds of stupid crap. Including trying to flirt with me. A lot. It was annoying. I text my friend saying "If he keeps flirting with me I'm kicking him in the nuts. In front of all these people. I swear I'll do it!" Then my friend replied going "Nuts nuts nuts!" I laughed a little. He leaned over trying to see the message. Before he got close to me, i saw him out of the corner of my eye. Before i could stop myself i just go "NOTHING!" and close my phone. I was expecting him to say "What are you laughing at?" I guess. It was great cuz he knew something was up XD.

Then he ditched me on the dance floor. DITCHED ME. I fallowed him out and he started dancing with some girl. Right in front of me. So when he danced with me again, I had cooked up a revenge plan. I never actually do that. I'll think of something then not do it. But he'd been ticking me off all night. He's easy to embarrass, and I'm harder to embarrass, especially in front of strangers. I started reconsidering it, but then he said something so rude and without thought i did it. I don't even remember what he said, i just know i was FURIOUS.

I fell to the ground and went limp. He turned beat red, and tried to pick me up off the floor going "What are you doing?! Get up!" I just smiled and said "Nope!". This goes on for a bit, the entire time he's still trying to dance with me. So he's just dragging me around on the floor trying to pick me up, freaking out. I'm laughing the whole time, cuz people are staring. Do i care? No. I don't know any of these people. But he cares! He was BEGGING ME to get up. Still trying to dance with me. He looks like he's about to cry, but attempting (and failing) at laughing it off. Finally he picks me up, almost standing up straight. Someone bumped into us, and he dropped me, i fell backwards, he catches me and falls on top of me. One leg on either side. He sat there for a minute while i just look him right in the eye, and said "You realize what the position we're in right now looks like, right?"

It was hilarious. He never forgot it. I went to another dance with him, and he said something that was kinda insulting. I just stopped dancing and looked at him, got close to his face and went "Really? Really? Want me to go limp again?!" He got terrified and yelped "NO!" Like, almost shrieked it. His voice got all high. A bunch of people stopped and looked at him. it was fantastic!

At another dance a few months ago, this other guy me and my friends can't stand (he's a real jerk) started flirting with me. Wouldn't quit. So this girl, who i had (still have) a major crush on came up and pretended to be my girlfriend. She comes up, grabs my arm, an says to the guy "Why are you hitting on my baby?". Then she held my hand all night and said something sweet whenever he walked by. She caught him staring at us and kissed me on the cheek. Whats even more ironic? The people hosting this dance are big gay haters. They saw my facebook profile with my gay rights stuff on it and started acting really mean towards me. Saying if i didn't take it off they wouldn't add me as a friend. So, me and my friends all made this plan to go with a member of the same sex, then start a campaign when they confronted us. but then everyone bailed on me. Funny how that one worked out! I ended up kissing her on the cheek back. I went home beaming.

I've got more but this thing is pretty long =P

I don't know if this qualifies, but this was by far and away, the worst date, most embarrassing date, funniest now that I think about it date, that I was ever on.

I am in college and me and a sometimes friend, made an agreement to double date and alternate driving to this one annual Thanksgiving dance that is held in this extremely fancy hotel in a large city (we all came from the suburbs). He drove the first year and we four ate first at a French restaurant and then went to the dance and it worked perfectly. The next year I drive.

He asks a young woman I had known for several years and I ask one I just met. We decide to join a group and go to the dance first and eat later. I ask my date all week long what she will be wearing as corsages were 'in' then and she hasn't picked a dress out so I order a white rose corsage. It is beautiful. Then when I pick her up, she's wearing a gorgeous white sleeveless dress with these little shiny sequin type things on it. The corsage becomes almost invisible. Until later when the roses start turning brown. Then everyone can see them.

We drive to the city, and since it is Thanksgiving weekend, I say, let's drive down the main drag because they just turned the holiday lighting on. So does every other car for 100 miles. Besides the huge backup, I hit a cab.

We finally get to the dance and it's fine, except we are walking around up on a balcony and she leans against the edge and snags her dress on a nail, tearing it. After the dance we go to this Polynesian restaurant where they don't seat us for over an hour, overcharge us terribly and we finally get out at about 2:30am. I drop her off at her home very late, and find out the next day, her parents had called the police. She was super nice, but we realized it just wasn't meant to be.

I recently realized I share a birthday with two characters in my favorite show!   Kirishima and Tetsutetsu, both which are guys who comment on things being manly (not in a toxic masculinity type way? They'll call basically anything they find positive "manly"). Kirishima especially is considered a poster boy for positive masculinity, and Tetsutetsu serves as comedy in being very similar to Kirishima in almost every way. I guess that makes October 16th the manliest birthday lol   I find gender affirmation in the strangest places 💀

Short answer, yes. Not easy!! And the "overcome" part is a continuous work in progress. A story is told:   Say you're lost in the woods on a moonless night. It's so dark you cannot even see your hand on front of your face. What do you do? Pick a direction and start walking. You may be on the path out of the woods or you may be going deeper into the woods - you don't know and for some time there's no way to tell the difference. But you keep going. After some time, you begin to see a glimmer of light, not much but just enough to contrast with the previous deep darkness. But it's enough to encourage you that you're going the right way to escape being lost in the dark wilderness.    It's an allegory for the spiritual path. Or if you're not spiritual, call it the path to metal health. For a long time you simply go through the motions and do your best to keep up the forward momentum. You don't perceive yourself as making any progress - it all seems the same. But you practice and develop strength and keep going. Then you begin to notice small differences. You're not as reactive as you used to be. You still have nightmares, but somehow you have more agency in them. There are moments where you experience peace of mind.    Trust is probably the #1 biggest issue for people who've experienced trauma. Certainly it has been for me. Trusting love is real - that's major. But I've found that trust in love is not developed via relationships with others, but rather by learning about yourself and how to feel self-secure. And that is not a matter of autonomy, but rather gaining insight into who you are, essentially. Who you are is indomitable and adorable. You come to believe that in a profound way (not in an egotistical way) and you feel safe anywhere and in all circumstances. You have a feeling of communion and goodwill with all. You are not attached or affected by the actions of others, but are profoundly self-assured in unconditional love for yourself and all. Easily said, but that potential lies in all. It requires guidance, will, discipline, grace, and patience.

Yeah.  I'm a short ways out of town here.  Hay field across the road.  Pasture on 2 sides in back, and lots of trees in my yard - back yard is basically a small woods.  I'm a bit of a tree hugger.

There was no such thing when I was growing up.  Some of my kids played them though, but only the younger ones.  We didn't have a computer for the oldest ones. About the only game I've ever played was Tetris, and that was on one of those old gameboy things.  I still have little interest in them.  My ex did do something for awhile, animal crossing I think.

I remember living that way. My parents didn’t get an air conditioner until the mid 1970s, just before I moved out. Their house was built to utilize cross winds or fans to keep air moving. In those days it was very important to keep the screens in order so the mosquitoes 🦟 out. Flies were dealt with by using fly traps. You do get acclimated to the hot or cold weather in those situations.    Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Well I have been absent recently due to my new hobby of computer gaming. I have worked on a collection of NES, SNES, N64, Sega and now revamping up my PlayStation 1 and 2 collection and then will get Xbox original. My computer isn't powerful enough to run Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 games. It's fun to see the old games that I grew up with.

It's truly bizarre, the changes that have happened over the years. Larger houses on smaller blocks of land which means less trees because there's no room for them, so less shading and the resultant need to run air-con harder, which adds to suburban heat sink, which results in higher local ambient temperatures, which results in increased air-con use. Vicious circle.
    • Ivy
I don't have "air" here, so I pretty much live with what Mother Nature gives me.  Fortunately, there are trees in my yard which helps in the NC summer.  Windows and doors open all summer - closed up in winter. I do have fans, ceiling and windows. When you think about it, everyone used to live this way.

I cannot say that I have. As much as we hope that love, compassion, and therapy help, sometimes opening ourselves up to individuals who later to out to disingenuous, results in worsening of the original trauma. In addition, it may provide a secondary trauma. I have experienced this first hand, and it has left me hardened more than diamond or titanium. There is an emptiness that grabs you when you have been betrayed for innocently opening ourselves up, only to find someone who has went behind your back, and tried to destroy your life.    As for therapy, well, for some of us it works I suppose, until we either run out of money. Insurance is often not useful. There are many "counselors" who will not accept the insurance payments, but will willingly charge much more. When my counselor unilaterally decided to increase charges from 130/session to 180/session, I said enough is enough. I survive, sometimes despite myself. I have paid a fortune out of pocket for everything, and have no illusions about it. If I did not pay what I paid, I would not have received the services including the counseling. Transactional? Yes. I already knew I was transgender. That little gift will exist until my last heartbeat occurs. I will endure because I want to, and because my job/profession benefit others.    It was hard enough coming out later in life. I knew it would be hard. If I had a choice, would I choose to be transgender? No. If I had it to do over again, I would never tell a soul. I would take everything to the grave with me.

Good question, when it comes to love, the trauma from past makes it hard for me to know wither someone really loves me or not. My therapist suggested that I embrace my femininity more, due to my past trauma held me back from doing so and forgive those who mistreated me.
