Sept 1 is my first appointment with the Endocrinologist for a consult for hormones. Blood work has to be done and a five year plan discussed with him. My goal is to be living full time as a woman by the five year mark. I really don't care if I pass or not anymore. It's all about how I feel inside as a woman that counts.

Hi Suzie

This is exactly what your therapist is going to want to hear.

That your going to be happy with your decision.

Good luck with your Dr. visit, as if you need luck. :D

Congrats on your Endo appointment, not sure why he wants a five year plan but i am sure you will be living full time allot sooner than five years.

I started transitioning at the age of 56, it is best to make more than one plan, i had a plan A, and a plan B, physical changes and getting ma'am'd all the time around the one year mark on hormones dictated that i go full time sooner than my plan A, which called for me going full time early next year, so i moved to plan B which calls for me being completely full time by the end of December.

If he has not told you what he expects in your five year plan you may want to have one ready so he knows what you expect, some things you might want to think about and have time frames for are:

Telling your parents.

Telling your extended family

Telling those friends that need to know.

Coming out at work

I seem to pass which is a plus but even if i did not i would still be just as happy and content as i am right now.

THATS WHERE YOU NEED TO BE - the hell with what people think!

Suzie, I'm so excited for you! Make sure you let us know how it goes :) Five years does sound like a long time, but it could just be that it will take around five years to reach a "steady state," when your body is nearly done changing.

Thank you girls. :-) Paula a plan A and plan B is a good idea. Maybe even a plan C. I will write that out in advance to bring up with the endo on the 1st. I have a tgirl friend who is post-op and living full time that is going to go with me for my first appointment. I'm thinking of dressing somewhat fem when I go too. After all I am a woman so why not? Will not go overboard though, do not want to draw too much attention to myself, the white cane I use to get around already draws too much attention.

Thank you Sally for putting my appointment on your calendar. :-)

Love,

Suzie
