Are You Ready?

The problems of week 2

Finally, the letter is written

your hormones are to begin

your therapist says you are ready

that little pill to take.

Did they tell you of some side effects

did they tell you of the days

the days when you cant stop crying

did they tell you of the days

the days when you bit heads off for no reason?

Did they tell you of the days

the days when all is on its head

did they tell you of the days

the days when you may not want out of bed

Congratulations girlfriend you've arrived

but just where is here

on the same boat as the rest of us

trying to figure our way through

through this hormone nightmare

They say it gets better

the mood swings lessen

I cant say they do

mine have just begun

Did they tell you of

the itch as the breast grow

did the tell you of the pain

as the growth happens

did they tell you of spiro

and its little annoyances

the increased thirst

the increase toilet time

If you are reading this

then you have found

the one place on earth

where love is to be found

I really like this one! I keep thinking about finally seeing a therapist and working towards hormones, I just want to feel more feminine and have breasts and hips my own instead of padding and feeling more fake than I already am. I read your poem though, and it really helped give me some much needed perspective. You are much braver than I darling, and I envy you for it. You are such a wonderful person, and even though I don't have a lot of experience in this world, if you ever need someone to talk to, I'm here.

Please keep writing you're wonderful poetry.

Hi Joanna, I'm sorry the hormones are giving you so much trouble---I wonder if the T causes the same problems for FtM transitioning? My son says he feels great since starting T, but I sometimes wonder if he doesn't want to upset me by telling me the truth about it..............in any case, I hope that everything settles down soon----or is there a different type of estrogen that they can put you on?

I am on HRT myself due to menopause, but I am on Estradiol gel pump that I put on my arms once nightly and a prometrium/progesterone pill that is extracted from yams (of all things!). My doctor says they are two of the safest combinations and nothing like the HRT that was used in that study from a few years back---mind you, I have always been female but when I started on this stuff it was like my life was given back to me & I have tried a couple of times to come off of it, just thinking maybe I don't need it anymore---I last about 2 weeks and feel like I am losing my mind, so I go back on it and all is well. Maybe I am speaking from sheer ignorance as I don't know how the MtF hormone regimen is set up.....

i get the same from the gf/so/housemate... kinda you volunteered for this. Ive given up telling her things like volunteer means choice...and i had none in this

Oh my goodness!

My Doctor just added that to my meds 14 days ago and for a bit, it made me half crazy! (was already the other half....)

Crying and moods that I couldn't control at first...but I'm getting a handle on it now!
