Men's Jeans Are Awkward..

This sounds like the stupidest question in the world when I think it through in my head. Basically, I went shopping a few days ago and bought some new clothes, including jeans. I've never had men's jeans before though so I can't even tell if they fit right. They fit me pretty comfortably in the waist, but they're really loose everywhere else. I can't tell if that's how they're meant to be or not though and I'm debating whether to return them or not.

Seriously, what do you think? If it helps, they're supposed to be flared jeans. They feel ok on, but I'm just not used to the whole baggy-ness of them. If they look ok though, great, because now I know my size at least. If they look too big, please help, because they were the smallest size I could find in any shop (28).

Hey Thorndrop

I think they look good.

That's the way most mens jeans will fit.

Remember most men are not as worried about how their cloths fit as women are.

Thanks. :)

I was just a bit indecisive because like I said, I've never worn men's jeans before and women's are usually meant to be tight so it's what I'm more used to.

But at least now I know what size I need in jeans so I can buy some more without having to try on about five different sizes.

Pretty much all men's clothing is meant to be loose and baggy. One of the hardest things for me to get used to was buying clothes that actually fit when I started buying women's clothes. I felt like you could see every roll or dimple, now the men's t-shirts I kept for painting in seem enormous! Lol. Those jeans look great on you. I'd say they fit just right. One thing I would say though is next time I would avoid flared jeans, that's not a popular style for guys at least not here, maybe they are popular in the UK?

Yeah, I feel uncomfortable in women's clothes since they're usually so tight that you can see any curves I do have. Admittedly that's not a lot but it's not comfortable for me to look like that.

I honestly don't pay a lot of attention to what styles are popular. All I know is that everyone wears skinny jeans, and my guy friends tell me I should get some, but I'm not too fond of the style. Maybe that's because I've only tried on girls ones before and it's the whole tight-ness that bugs me with them. I'll have to try some guys ones next time I go shopping. :)

Yah, I'm having trouble with pants as well. Mostly just where to wear them. A lot of guys wear their jeans low. But a lot of my guy friends also like to wear girl jeans....

I can't stand skinny jeans. I like the way they look on some people, but I cannot pull them off. At least not girl ones.

But anyway, your jeans look fine to me. As long as you feel comfortable in them!

Oh please don't wear skinny jeans! Go with your first instinct! Skinny jeans look good on some women but absolutely terrible on guys and honestly I think they would emphasize the curves that you don't like. I don't think that skinny jeans will stay in style much longer anyway, I think they are just a fad.

Remember most men like baggy jeans because it gives them room for their equipment and if your FTM you definitely want baggy because tight jeans will definitely keep you from passing. I would go further but this is a safe site!!

Everybody hedged around it but Charlene cut to the chase :P Loose =good. Not so loose your underwear turns into your outwear but loose enough that anyplace your package might be wouldn't be getting you a ticket for indecent exposure. The waist is the thing. You've said that fits. So the jeans fit. Wendy also was right in that flared is not a really popular cut amongst the majority of guys. Boot cut might be if you're kind of a western style person, but flared...not so much. Straight, relaxed , those are the two cuts I'd work in. Personally, I prefer the relaxed but thats preference. Someone else asked "where" the waist should hit. Again, some preference is involved, but people often like the waist a little lower than the "actual" waist. Some straight out wear em on the hip. The advantage of placing the waist at the hip is it takes away from the indenting of the actual waist . In time (and as you think about it and see more of mens clothes) they'll not only become more natural but you might be kinda ticked to look back and see what women wear lol. Happy experiencing.

My opinion, if you're going for a more dude-like look, then button the bottom of your shirt all the way down. Sorry if someone can't see your "cute" belt but unless you're going for a twink look in the gay community, you just have too much fashion going on for a guy. That's not even metro or pick up artist, it crosses the line into girlish.

And next time don't get flared leg jeans. I grew up in America, stuck with "guy stuff" and always wanted them and they don't even generally sell flared leg men's jeans anywhere I looked. The closest you can do is boot cut and still be boyish.

So there's the don'ts.

Do's = Yes. They look good. if they fit in the waist then you're A-okay. I second the idea that if they sit on your hips you're probably doing just fine. A lot of men's jeans will not fit your butt and will sag down instead leaving a sort of box-ey hanging rear end to the pants, especially jeans. Also men have gotten fatter and fatter lately so off-the-rack slacks that aren't from Express or Structure or Sacks will also fit that way. I found it difficult to get slacks that didn't have pleats and space for a big ol' butt without going to the aforementioned stores (By the way, I'm MtF trans and spent my younger years reading vogue Italia, and I shopped occasionally at the aforementioned stores -- they can come across as pretty metro or even gay to a lot of middle America)

Also Dos = Where what you think looks cool on you. If you absolutely LOVE a particular style, then ignore everything I said. There ARE metrosexual guys out there and I used to hang out with a bunch of pick up artists who would consistently snag the loveliest women at every upscale club we went too, generally they dressed almost gay.

I think they look nice! They look plenty male on you, not too tight, not falling off the butt baggy (personally I can't understand how that can be comfortable, but that's just me!)

The main thing is, are YOU comfortable in them! Of course women's jeans are made tighter, so that may be what you're used to, but is that what you like? If you're thinking "They're too baggy" because you're accustomed to girl's jeans, or because you prefer a less baggy style. As long as you're happy with them, don't worry about it!

Thorn! (Shows how great my vision is) You left the bottom of your shirt open? Dude lol what are you doing? :P

I don't really have much to add...Jeannine and Evan hit the nail on the head. I kind of like boot cut or slimmer style jeans, but I'm gay and I dress like it. I shop at Express and Banana Republic and those kind of places haha. So if you don't want to look metro or gay, or even "emo", steer clear of slimmer cut jeans. If you're a straight guy, I would definitely go for the kind of jeans you're wearing. And if you're wearing a button down, either button it the whole way up, or leave it completely unbuttoned. If you want to show off a belt, button the shirt the whole way and tuck it in. But I wouldn't weat it that way unless you're wearing slacks, it looks kind of weird with jeans. Good luck bud, you're off to a great start!

Well.. thanks for the advice. :)

I'm not the most masculine person in the world nor am I the most femenine. My guy best friend is probably more girly than me and apart from his skinny jeans, we tend to like similar things.. I really don't want to look 'gay' but I don't want to be really manly either.

Like most of the previous posters said, they look perfectly fine! The way you can tell if mens jeans fit well is this: If they feel like they're about to slip off any second, but if you tug on the pockets a little (not too much) and they stay up, they fit. If they still slip, try tighening your belt. If that doesn't help (or you can't) then they're too big.

For one thing, the practice of putting into office wholly unqualified people simply because of racial, sexual or national characteristics.  It is no accident that Karine is a Haitian immigrant, Black and lesbian.  Kamala Harris is a Black female. Pete Buttigieg is gay.  Often you find that Biden explicitly stated that this is why he hired them, not because of competence, but because they checked so many boxes on his little list.  It makes a mockery of people and is a disservice to the US.

I am not sure why people are in favor of unaccountable agencies with bloated budgets and wasteful spending.

Hey girl  I had a problem like you happen to me also. In my first year of estrogen I had a period where my level were good then they got really bad where my testosterone spike high.  I felt like you with all that disforia coming hard. Our bodies need time to adjust. The process is a real pain in the beginning. It levels out eventually and you don't even think about it. Hang in there hugs

I wonder if there will be law enforcement procedural shows coming this fall. I can imagine Law and Order: Genital Crimes Unit, or perhaps, FBI: Domestic Genitalia. Then again, maybe they will dedicate a CSI program about the dedicated members of the Oklahoma State Police Genital Screening Unit. Good to know that those Oklahomans have their priorities squared away.

Protections? Well, when they mandate that some who is transgender can get facial and genital electrolysis paid as it is essential to affirming care, or when they mandate and pay for facial feminization surgery, speech therapy/voice affirmation surgery, I will believe that the order is effective. One of biggest hurdles for many transgender individuals is the cost of care. I remember when my one insurance company tried to say that my speech therapy and voice surgery were "cosmetic". I remember when they blocked paying for my facial surgery. I remember the fight I had to get electrolysis. These procedures could save someone's life if the procedures help the individual successfully transition, and are no longer misgendered.

I don't think it should be.  Nor do I see Project 2025 as pushing Christian nationalism.

The agencies are supposed to work for him.  The problem, as conservatives found out in Trump 1, was they will ignore the president and do their own thing.  The agencies are supposed to be under his control.   Congress delegated some of its law making authority to the agencies, which is another problem.   The bloated federal government needs to be trimmed.  Dept Education is worthless - test scores have dropped since it was instituted in the Carter administration consistently, and it is currently implementing Biden's woke agenda more than doing anything else.

I hope to eventually wear a suit for dance but don't know what exactly to look for. I feel like jumpsuit is safe option but I have been interested in wearing button up and formal pants. Is there a certain brand i should look for or sites I should look at for tips? My mom is not exactly keen on me wearing too masc clothing like suits just yet but is okay with jumpsuits. Also is there hair styling tips availible, my hair looks like image below. I might be able to get shorter haircut like pixie but am not sure yet.

It’s never been about him, but he is the Presidential nominee for the Presidency that starts in…2025. I don’t see a lot of conflation that this is a “Trump doctrine”, it a doctrine that benefits him surely, but it is a plan to instill crony governance and enact very Christian conservative (if not purely Christian nationalist) “order” on the country. If you don’t see this as the Right doubling down on Big G government, I don’t know what to tell them. Getting rid of agencies and giving the authority directly to the Executive isn’t shrinking government. It’s consolidation power.
    • MaeBe
It is the made up ideology they believe trans people are pushing on the world, those “poor young girls who are being coerced into believing they are men” and the “perverts who put on dresses and think they’re girls”. The anti-LGBTQ+ movement came up with the term. Being trans = you believe in trans ideology/transgenderism, supporting trans people = the same.   In the end anyone that acts on or thinks gender is anything but what is in your pants is a “transgenderist”, why not make it a word if it’s not, there is no real grey area. Unless you acknowledge there is transgenderism, but use your knowledge to “correct it”.  So I guess there could be transgenderist conversion “therapists”.  Face it, we deface the America they want. Land of the Free and Home of the Brave? I think being out and queer is pretty brave. And freedom shouldn’t just be for those who push a narrow “Christian ideology” as the “true” governing model.

Rants are not a problem.  My favorite hobby! :)   What's out there is bad enough that I wonder why some people feel they need to embellish it.  Be alert.   Some of this will need to be fought in court if they try to implement it. If people are out to get me, paranoia is justified.  And this may not be the only document.   Abby
    • Ivy
Not in so many words, therefore it's not there at all.  Excuse my paranoia. And the states passing laws against us are nothing to worry about either. Having to change my gender back to male (like in Florida) is reasonable.  I should just accept it, I mean I was born with a dk.  So that "F" is lie, and a fraud.  My delusions need to be dealt with for my own good.   I'm just frustrated these days.  Just a bit of a rant.
