If There Were No Clothing Differences?

Hey all, I'm just wondering..what do you think we would do...instead of crossdressing...if there were no clothing distinctions between men and women?

What if everybody wore the same style, the same colors. Did their hair the same way...

what would we do then?

I really..don't know.

I think we would be happy...and bored. ;)

Then we would find something else to give us the same level of pleasure.

There is more to being female then how we dress or wear our hair like hobbies. Lets face it if I told my guy friends that I like to knit and cross stitch I would be laughed out of the room. I think it's relaxing and I like to make things. I don't like the "manly" go grab a hammer and bang some wood together. I can appreciate the end result in the furniture but it's not me.

Although I doubt unless there was no gender at all this would ever happen because in the end it is all about attracting a mate.

Now this is a very interesting topic because I've often wondered about our dressing habits. For many species, the male is the one all decked out (birds for example, but there are lots of others) while the female is rather drab. In humans, for the past several generations, or maybe for thousands of years, we've done it the reverse. I've always wondered about that.

But there are also many groups of people - cliques, gangs, whatever you want to call it - that being a part of means you have to wear their 'uniform'. And it is just that. The goth groups all have to wear black, dark makeup, straight dark hair. That's a uniform. Rappers have their uniforms. Preppies, jocks, nerds, all have their uniforms. If you actually wear something different from all of those groups, you're really shunned as being totally a geek or an outsider, rather than held up as an example of being an individual, which I thought was what we all are.

Certain jobs have their uniforms - and I mean way beyond being a janitor or plumber or something like that. Lawyers, accountants, wall street types. Hey, even Hollywood stars have their uniforms.

So, basically, if we want to 'belong', we already do wear the uniform of the group we want to or already belong to which means we're wearing similar colors, have our hair styled a certain way, all within certain parameters.

And it gets worse with age. Regardless of who we are, we are all expected to wear age specific 'uniforms'. For example, 60+ year olds shouldn't really wear mini's. I know, some of you are already saying 'yuch!', but that's the point. We dress already alike for the group we're in or want to be in.

Is that the way it should be?

I honestly don't think complete uniformity of dress would ever be a possibility. As humans, I think most of us have an innate desire to express our individualism. Whether that creativity be in terms of science, art or clothing.

The milatary. Try the milatary..everyone dresses the same and every one has the same hair style..but after awhile.....you notice differences....people are adaptable and find ways to differentiate....we crossgenders would/will find a way......

Kia Ora,

OK I'm having one of my weird moment here...

I'm coming from the angle of "what is a 'crossdresser'?"...

There would be no 'cross' dressers [in the sense of those who do it for relaxation purposes]...You would [as Mia likes to call it] be cross-genders which is more to do with one behaviour/mannerism=trans-gender...After all if it's only about items of clothing then it becomes something of a fetish[and I don't just mean of a sexual nature]...

Ask yourselves this question "When is a fetish[A form of sexual desire in which gratification depends to an abnormal degree on some object or item of clothing or part of the body] not a fetish[Excessive or irrational devotion to some activity] ???" then you will find the answer to your question...

Metta Jendar :)

Very interesting. I think the answer is "LIFE CHOICE."

If you use the article of clothing for immediate gratification and discard the article after that "moment" it could possiblybe a fetish..If the article is a means to acheive a goal, that is a life style need...then it is the key to the gate......and is part of your being...and essence....

Very interesting.

I guess there are many different types of Transgendered who label themselves crossdressers.

I think those that just like to wear specific items of womens clothes would find other outlets and the ones who become women even if only for short periods would still find a way to express their femininity. I can think of a few...

Let's see; jewellery, makeup (you never mentioned makeup Andrea - so I'm including it here), mannerisms, thought processes, hobbies, emotions, OMG, I'll leave it at that before I get too carried away.

April, that is def good advice. I have had some really bad experiences with a therapist in the past. She way violated my trust. That caused a massive amount of damage to every corner of my life. Truthfully, because of that i have alot of deep seeded trust issues. I'm not sure i could ever go back to therapy. You are of coarse right, therapy would help, suppose its a matter of finding the right one and learning how to trust again.

I look for purses with a shoulder strop that goes across the body. I also like many pockets. But one purse is not enough. I like purses that are artistic and make a statement about my personality. It doesn't have to be flamboyant, but matches my character. I also need a purse when I want to blend in and not be noticed so easily. One that won't draw attention to me when I don't desire it.

What if a social media platform giant, (we all know its name) on devices we own, is held responsible for creating rules to intentionally target our community? for political reasons?

Well just got back back from a visit to our oldest and family. It was nice having my granddaughter snuggle up to me on the couch. Gave me a big hug when we went over yesterday. Spent all day yesterday with them.  I envy my granddaughter, being able to grow up a girl. Something I wish I got to do.    Hugs, Kymmie

I hope our members from the Mid-South are doing OK today.  A lot of places had a real disaster overnight.  Tornadoes dropped all over, through Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Arkansas, and Tennessee.  Lots of damage, and many people missing.  Pray for those involved, and that there won't be another wave of it tonight.   My county was spared almost all of it, but a neighboring county was hit hard.  Our Defense personnel were mobilized this morning to assist with access control, because all their local LEOs are needed for search and rescue.  No idea of how many are injured and missing, but there have been several deaths.  We may not know for weeks.  Rural areas here have a lot of shacks and trailer houses, and most people were asleep because it hit at the worst time - early morning on a Sunday during a holiday weekend.  Tornado hit a retirement home, and lots of elderly folks were hurt bad.  There was no forecast for this, and little if any warning.      Electrical outage is widespread, and it has been followed by a really hot, humid day.  Heat index is around 115 - it's killer heat.  I went out with my husband this morning, since everybody with a CDL was needed for a convoy.  I'm back home now, since I only got a couple of hours of sleep last night.  He'll probably be there overnight, and GF is there also helping with mechanical issues.  They've converted a big Baptist church into a community shelter for people who have lost their homes, and set up a generator and AC.  I'll probably go back tomorrow to help some more, as they're working on setting up a kitchen...nobody wants to eat MRE's forever.    They're getting no help from the state at all yet.  Governor didn't bother to declare an emergency until this afternoon!   The National Guard hasn't been activated either.  If it wasn't for Defense personnel, there'd be gawkers and looters. Its ridiculous, like only the cities matter.  Two rural towns literally no longer exist - its like a bulldozer a half-mile wide went through.  I've seen tornado damage before, but this is the worst.  Its just heartbreaking to look at it.

You are absolutely experiencing the same thing many, if not most, of us have faced...and still face.    The best thing I did was to find a therapist skilled in gender issues. She's been a life saver (and we work entirely on-line). And, for me, it also has made sense to move ahead slowly and in synch with my wife.    Just know that you have people here willing to listen and help, as you need it.

A decided exception to the concept of Free Speech, this one shows the consequences of taking the concept off the rails.
