I Would Like To Say Hello.

Hello everyone.

I'll go by my World of Warcraft name, Disti, for now. I have been confused and uncomfortable with myself for a long time now, and rather recently I have wanted to see a therapist and have been feeling depressed. I recently asked my mother about a therapist, I didn't tell her why, I used my depressed mood as an excuse. (I don't really want to say much about this to her until i can talk to a therapist about it.) When I asked her about seeing a Therapist she laughed and said "You're not depressed, you just need more sleep." (I get less than 8 hours of sleep per night due to my dogs and family.) I recently told a friend of mine on WoW and he was alot more understanding than I had thought he would be.

I have thought of myself as a woman for years now and recently it is becoming harder and harder to suppress who I really am(Although I have been able to do it for years, but now I just can't hold these feelings back anymore because they are eating away at me). I am also a very shy person.

So this is me saying "Hello" to everyone here.

Disti.

Welcome to Laura's Playground, Disti. I am very happy to meet you!

It sounds like you have mapped out a good strategy, and I encourage you to follow

through on the therapist idea. It would be best to find a Gender Specialist, but I

understand that it might cause a problem trying to explain it.

In the meantime, make yourself at home here. There are lots of forums with great

information, resource pages to find what you need, and chat rooms if you are chatty.

There are many fine people who inhabit this site, and we are friendly, non-judgemental

and supportinve. I know you will find friends here.

HUGS

Hi Disti,

Welcome to Laura's Playground.

Shyness, suppressed feelings. They all make us feel so alone, yet so many of us have experienced the same feelings you're having. Doesn't necessarily make us smarter, just more understanding and willing to listen. And perhaps you might find something worthwhile here to help you on your journey.

With lots of supportive people here, Laura's is a great place to explore your feelings, and maybe find a friend. We're glad you're here

Hello Disti,

I am glad you are here.

I have brought you so chocolates. I love chocolate I hope you don't mind if I help myself to one.

Sit back and relax, you have found a wonderful place to express yourself and to ask questions and get advice. It is like free theraphy for me and I hope you will find it helpful also. After you post 5 times you can send private messages and I hope you will contact me since we are both in Maryland and I am going to see my GT on Wednesday and I would be happy to help you find a therapist. I live about 20 minutes outside of DC and my Therpist is from John Hopkins University Hospital. She is a wonderful person and has been very helpful to me. :P

My story is like your story and as you will find out we all love to share our stories. We would love to hear more about you. I think you are facinating.

Peace & Love Amanda

Welcome Hun :)

This is definitely the *happening* place to be! It's the bees knees, the cats meow! Yeah baby, yeeaaah!

^_^

You know....I don't know your mom, and I don't know how she might react, but I think if you told her the reason, or at least maybe something of what you're feeling, like maybe just tell her you're having identity issues, or something like that, maybe she'd take it more seriously?

I do know that you can't put it off forever, and the longer you wait, the more you'll regret it in the end. I spend so much time beating myself up because I didn't come out in my teens, I could be so much further along in my transition, and I would probably be less emotionally scarred than I am.

You're the most important person in your life, don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise

Be good to yourself!

*Huggggs*

Thanks Davie! And don’t worry, I didn’t take it that way. It’s just such a big topic I can only hope to tackle it one bit at a time.

This is not uncommon.  I started out going to the therapist in androgynous clothing: from the women's department, but plausibly masculine.  What made it easier was when I started going to a trans peer support group.  Most of the people there were presenting fully feminine, so I looked out of place in my androgynous clothing.  The peer pressure made it easier to dress in skirts.   I started out changing in a gender-neutral bathroom near the meeting room.  But I soon started wearing skirts in the car to and from the meetings.   Yes, it was nerve-wracking at first, but I soon realized that no one was looking and no one cared.    You can do this.

In my last session my therapist is starting to suggest that I need to start exploring my gender identity in a more tangible way through wearing feminine clothing at least during sessions.  I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around her seeing me actually en femme.   I love and trust her, but the thought of being visibly feminine is scaring (and thrilling) me.  Is this a common thing in gender therapy?  How do I get past the fear?  More importantly, what should I wear?

USA doctors denounce Cass Report, support trans folks.  The Endocrine Society And American Academy Of Pediatrics Respond To Cass, Reject Bans. In recent weeks, the Cass Review out of the United Kingdom has been used to argue for bans on care. I felt the urge to date and felt just like a teenager again. I have recorded my journal titled Ashley's Life From Start to Present. I was very moody and agitated and happy. I think it was my body's way of being in shock. After about two months it got better. Remember that you aren't the only one transitioning because your wife is too. Consider yourself lucky because I lost mine because of it and so have many others. Just enjoy the ride.

I'm sorry for asking so many questions about your situation. I'm in your camp and believe you should be able to be whoever you feel you need to be. I guess it the Union Shop Stewart coming out in me. I want you to be treated fairly as well as respectably. You're human, you're a client of theirs. Especially if you're paying money to be there.   Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Views, terminology, and aspects of how events came to be....aren't those directly related to the news item?  If not, I'm rather confused.
