Blood Clot In The Legs

So I know that there is always a risk on oral HRT for you to develope a blood clot or DVT because the estrogen Thickens your legs but I was wondering what the symptoms are. I am going throught HRT now and it scares the hell out of me to think of something like that, I have asked my doctor what I could do to reduce the risk and he told me to take a spiring a day so for the past about a month I have taken a aspirin with it, sometimes twice a day. Although, I may be wrong because I do worry way to much and I do have anxiety, like a fear of dying but my right leg, like towards my knee has felt weird lately for about the past month or so, i feel like when i walk on it, its always a lil bit more tense, it just feels really different from my left leg. I sit on the computer alot and in a position where maybe I do cramp it up a bit because Im on it for hours but it feels more tense kind of like of im walking with my leg fully streched and not bending my knees, a uncomfertable feeling, but my left knee feels totally normal and fine.

So my question is I have felt like this for awhile now, first about a month and a half ago and it was a lil pain in the back of my leg at first, not even a pain just kind of a weird feeling and now my leg feels diff, maybe its just my posturing because im on the computer 24/7 but I don't think so because even when i had my computer where I was laying day it still felt weird, do you think its something I should worry about and get checked out?

While yeah it feels a bit different, I have felt like this for awhile now and if something was wrong would it not have shown by now? I mean I am in no real pain, it doesnt sit there and hurt, nor does my leg swell or feel warm it just feels different and worn out like i been stretching it. My hormone dosage is low and relies more on Anti-Adrogens and I even take aspirin everday. So does it sound like a bad hormone effect or does it sound like Im just worrying myself a bit over nothing.

Cella hon,

Unfortunately we cannot advise you medically. These are all questions for your doctor. Have you talked to your doctor about what you are experiencing?

If you have not, please do so.

Love

Brenda

The medical therm is:Deep Vein Thromobsis or DVT.

If you think you may have a problem,do not mess around.

This(if you have it)can be a life threatening condition.

So buckup, don't waste time, and go to your physican.

Women look after their health far more than men do.

So be the woman you are and take care of your health.

It is far better to be safe, than to wait and be sorry.

Cella, Brenda is absolutely correct. Blood clots or any kind of circulation problems are nothing to mess with.

You need to see you doctor ASAP.

BTW, I do hope you obtained your hormones and blockers via a prescription, and that you are being monitored.

We aren't saying this to scare you (well, maybe a little), we are telling you this because we care about you and want you to be safe.

Please take it seriously, Hon. Thanks!

Cella, Hon, take a deep breath and just relax for a bit, OK?

Lets take things one at a time. Please don't jump to conclusions about what might happen.

It may be that the pain you're feeling is nothing serious.

But you won't know until you get it checked out. That's job number one, right?

Best of luck to you. I'm sure you'll be OK.

Absolutely what Carolyn said! Job one is to stay calm, see the doc and take all the steps needed. I'm sure you'll be fine, and we are all always here for you.

Baby...listen to me.....

There is something else at play here, too......

Spiro...

It has a side effect of cramping muscles...

Once in a while I get awful cramps in the back of my lower legs...tightens up real bad...

You could be getting a side effect from the spiro...it can also make one nauseous and light headed (I get that once in a while....)

Let your doctor sort it out....ok?

You'll be alright...I just know it!

Sweetie,

Hope you stay calm and let your doctor check it out. Leg pain and cramps maybe caused by many reasons and DVT is one of them. Usually a doppler ultrasound test can see how the veins going. If you're sitting a lot in front of the computer, get up more often, do some stretching and leg exercises can help tp prevent DVT and get the circulation going.

You will be fine.

You don't have to give up computer time or HRT.

My girl friend I use a lap top or HP/Compaq netbooks. We sit in bed or on the sofa w/ our feet on the bed or coffee table.

We both HRT. She sees endo MD (yuck). I prefer TG/TS specialist because they know in 2 seconds if it's DVT/phlebitetis or fat lumps. I'm not too keen on getting clot buster and start bleeding internally.

There are lots of things that can cause your symptom, to list them would really set you off.

When your MD asks what wrong, tell him your worried about leg because you don't know if it's a clot, fat deposits, Spiro, dear tick bite, a 44 magnum bullet (joke).

Saying this will give him/her additional info on your physical and emotional needs.

Let us know what happened.

- G

PS: Personally, I freaked when I awoke w/ a painful lump on my lower thigh. The then president President Nixon just had phlebitis and I had the exact symptoms. I went to the emergency room in my TG neighborhood and it took the endo 2 seconds to see it was a fat lump building a female thigh. He took time to calm me down by educating me and recommended a endo text book that covered MTF. I was lucky that the ER got lots of paniced TG's like me.

I thought I'd post this here for information on blood clots. Having had a blood clot in my brain about ten years ago, I've become well versed in anticoagulation.

There is a huge push in the medical community focusing on the prevention of blood clots. This looks to be a good website: The Coalition to Prevent Deep Vein Thrombosis. It does say "For U.S. Residents Only", but that is only because it is a website sponsored by a pharmaceutical company. Pharmacy law varies from state to state and country to country and the information on the website adheres to US federal law.

Well I got a few PM's and IM's wondering what happend at the Doctors and If I was ok so I figured it was best to do a update=) I went to the doctors yesterday on 2 complaints. First about how my leg, well mostly my knee was achy a bit and felt differently when I walked like I streched it out so he examined it and he said there was no systems of a blood clot he can see, he said almost always a blood clot swells and he could see no signs of that. He did say although my knee felt a little out of place like it was tense so just to do exercises with it but other then that he said it ws fine. As for my shortness of breah first he asked me if I was poofy lol like if i had felt plumpy lately and I said a bit why? And he asked me how long I had been on the Estrogen for and I told him coming on 3 months now so he said that the Estogen was making me retain fluids like a woman on her period so do not be suprised if i get blouded now nd and then and told me when do and retain fuilds to avoid the salt because thats what causes shortness of breath in GG's. Non the less he gave the form for me to get a scan at the hospital and said he didn't think I needed it, but left it up to me, if my pain got worse or it swells or I just am worried about it, I can go get that scan done.

The bad news is that you are most definately going to die. & the worst part of that is...we are all going to die. We can chose to to live our lives to avoid this, but it could happen anywhere, anytime. If you wish to reduce your dvt risk, don't take androcurre or ethynal estradiol. Get up & move, even if it's walking. The blot clot risk from hrt is protein clots & not platelete clotting. You sound like you are scared of dying from living. Again, you're gonna die, as will I.

You are absolutely experiencing the same thing many, if not most, of us have faced...and still face.    The best thing I did was to find a therapist skilled in gender issues. She's been a life saver (and we work entirely on-line). And, for me, it also has made sense to move ahead slowly and in synch with my wife.    Just know that you have people here willing to listen and help, as you need it.

A decided exception to the concept of Free Speech, this one shows the consequences of taking the concept off the rails.

Idaho drag performer awarded $1.1m in defamation case against far-right blogger. A blogger, Summer Bushnell, falsely claimed Eric Posey exposed himself to a crowd, including children. The Kootenai county district court jury unanimously found that Summer Bushnell defamed Eric Posey, a resident of Post Falls, Idaho, when she posted a doctored video of his performance that included a blurred spot that she claimed covered his “fully exposed genitals”, the Coeur D’Alene Press reported. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/article/2024/may/26/idaho-drag-performer-defamation-case-far-right-blogger

April, Thank you for the shout out. It is difficult. Sometimes I wish I was just like everyone else (whatever that is). I haven't figured out how to present it to the kids (not sure I'm ready, or want to). I'd imagine  everyone on this forum has felt this at one time or another.

Thank You, I tried to balance the rooms decor with equal feminine, artsy, and a bit of 90's grunge/alternative influence.  Unfortunately, the camera I used didn't show the drawings well. I may decide to make a separate thread for the drawings/arts/crafts.   Hugs

@Amy Powell your aesthetic reminds me of Anna Sui. Welcome to Trans Pulse, @Amy Powell!  You've got an impressive bunch of skills and hobbies, and I'm impressed.  Please do have a look around the forums and post wherever you like.  You could even start a thread on one of your hobbies or interests if you like.  I imagine you keep yourself pretty busy with all of that.   We do have many gender fluid folks here that you'll find common cause with.  I look forward to hearing much more from you.   HUGS   Carolyn Marie

Last year I needed a new handbag.  My requirements include having many interior and exterior pockets, zippers, heavy duty hardware, and it needs to be cross-body.  Amazingly, I found exactly the right one at Macy's, and it was Guess at 50% off! I was astounded.    Carolyn Marie

When one signs up to and posts onto an online space, it's usually to the agreement of a set of terms and conditions. Basically, you're already signing yourself off to these rules, so you can't get upset if you did legitimately break the space's rules and got your post deleted/hidden/etc. Whether people abuse their power in being admins in some spaces and stretch the rules to seem like something is disobeying them in some way when, in reality, they just disagree with the post... well, that's another story. Freedom of Speech is only to say that the government can't restrict what you say, not ye average citizen, so online platforms completely have the right to remove or censor posts in that regard. The morality of that is pretty often under question, but it technically doesn't interfere with Freedom of Speech since online spaces are run by the public and not the government. Moderation of posts is essentially the same as if you put a whiteboard outside your house and said people could write messages on, you saw a message you found offensive that someone wrote, and then you erased it.

Don't forget TJ Maxx for purses.  I have purchased several from there.  They offer a great variety with good prices.  You can even find high-end bags at affordable prices.   @Ladypcnj purses are one of my weaknesses as well.
