i have been studying the epistles ( such as corinthians) and came to raise the question why they were ordained to be words of scripture and were God-breated while other letters that were written weren't. now i have formed my opinion and have a new understanding of the new testament, but i was wondering what were others viewpoint on this matter?

So... what is your opinion?

As for me, I don't know. I guess some were picked and some were not. Maybe the early church liked some over others, or didn't have access to all of them. I can't really say for sure, because I've never really looked into this before. Interesting question though.

well, my opinion is that all the books of the new testament were written by the apostles (or people who were close to christ), and disciples of apostles. also, actually looking at some of the books that were not included, they seem to not line up with the old testament and jesus' life. not that they weren't valid, but they don't seem to embelish (sp?) upon the old testament and line up with biblical teachings to the point where it is perceived as written by God through man.

p3ngu!n;

As I understand it, the assembly of the Old and New Testaments are reflective of the men who published the texts. The Old Testament imposes God's rules and regulations in a way through stories the people of the time could understand. The New Testament, the basis of Christianity, takes a more forgiving and nurturing position. Some religions do not embrace Jesus as the Son of God but rather another profit. The books excluded from the final "Bible" did not reflect a belief of the men putting it together, may have contained texts that would have raised more questions than answers, and/or the writings were not known to them.

I also believe that the New Testament was written by the Apostles, but we don't have the original copies anymore. Because of that, some portions may have been changed or slightly edited, thus changing the meaning of some sections.

There was also a lot of politics involved in the composition of what has now become the canonical Bible. One example is that the Roman Catholic church uses all the books including the Apocrypha whereas most protestant churches don't include the Apocrypha.

Like anything on earth it has gone through the hands of humans, not only in the original writings, but also the translations. It is critical when we study scriptures that we do so prayerfully and with an open heart and mind to hear what the spirit tells us.

The books of the New Testament were all validated to be written by people of authority in the early Christian church, Apostles and high ranking disciples of Christ were among the writers. They serve to inform us of Christ and give us examples of life and the struggles that come with that and how as followers of Christ we should handle them.

There are two problems with taking the Bible as the literal word of God and they both stem from the same source - the era of the events.

Very few people could write in those days and the ones that did other than the Romans used a form of written language that had no articles like a and the so when you read, "I am THE way..." it could just as easily be, "I am A way..." and now the meaning is totally different - now the Kingdom of God moves from the country club like exclusionary place of most Christian Churches and becomes and all inclusive kingdom for everyone - not very good for getting the people to fall into line and fill the collection plates.

I am a Christian but not in name only, I try to live my faith and be the best possible person that I can be, Jesus taught love and that is all that we need, it is hard to be mean to someone you love.

Love ya,

Sally

I do not blame you dear Talia, but I must say that "Apocrypha" is only used in some protestant churches and is not by far oecumenical, if you see what I mean.

Biden campaigned as the master negotiator, able to push legislation through Congress.   Whatever bill a Dem president, a Dem Senate, and a Rep House can agree on might be  more palatable than a bill with a R president, R Senate and R House given present attitudes. They are throwing away a chance.

A bill like this would never get through congress, even if it were allowed to be voted on.

Ha, that's funny - I swear this is the one I used to use in high school to get around school blockers and play games. 😅🤦‍♀️   Though I'd be wary of using a free VPN today, if your only intent is bypassing censorship, I guess it works. Proton VPN also has a free tier with a limited selection of countries/servers. I feel more comfortable recommending them as they actively try to fight censorship with new evolving VPN protocols, and they protect your privacy. They are also directly funded by their paying customers. So there is really no downside to using their free tier over another free VPN that may not have the same goals/values.

That sounds pretty accurate. I'm just glad I don't use Windows anymore, as I basically consider Windows itself a virus/malware. Backups can absolutely save you from some types of malware like ransomware. However it's ideal to just not get infected by having smart browsing habits. It's been said, and very accurately so, that the best antivirus is you - even the best antivirus isn't 100% accurate in detecting bad stuff, if you go out looking for that stuff or browse carelessly.   I guess if you don't care and/or don't have sensitive data on your PC, then that's fine I suppose. I personally care a lot - personal accounts, private messages, and even my very presence on this site aren't necessarily things I want to be public knowledge. 🤓🫠

Yes he is. Sorry it has taken so long. One sick kid and the other has needed my attention more than usually.
    • MaeBe
Sure is! Is he good with the kiddos?

Once again the Biden admin ignores Congress and issues a regulation that can be quickly changed. It would be much wiser if they worked a bill through Congress that became law.
    • Ashley0616
I think that is the camera on the floor. Of course the kids aren't picking up after themselves oh well. He sure is big for only being 6 months old.

@Birdie @Adrianna Danielle    @Willow    Big news today. We're moving to WA. My wife is taking a job and I am most likely losing mine, so it's adventure time. I'm supposed to be a risk-seeker (Aries, ENTP, etc.) but this is hitting every klaxon and alarm in my brain, but it's going to make my wife and kids happy and it will be a place to make new friends as me without the 45 years of binary baggage. There are tech jobs all over Seattle, which we'll be near, and it's a decent State for trans rights (I don't know how it compares to MN, which is a refuge state). So wish us luck! This could be the best thing ever or rocky as hell, who knows!
    • Ashley0616
I know the feeling. I had to replace the dishwasher, fridge, stove. The only other issues that could pop up is the washer and dryer and the microwave oh I forgot the toaster.

That's the hard part of online relationships, they really never get to see the whole you. You either have to create a persona that will carry the day until they get to see you for who you are, or be open and take the risk because it's really easy for them to disconnect because there is little to no bond.   You have to share pictures of your puppy! I am not a dog person, but I can appreciate them in jpg format! My kiddos would love to have a pet, but we're all allergic in some shape or form and my wife and I are like, "no." :D

I'm sorry Birdie! I wished you could move to a non-stressful place.
