I Should Nip It Before Alcohol Becomes A Problem..

Hey, I am not an alcoholic, but I have been to a few bars. I had enough alcohol to become disoriented in most cases. I am worried, though, that I may become an alcoholic like my dad was. I'm also wondering, how much is safe? Sometimes I will drink one beer at night because, actually, I like the taste. Will that one interact with antidepressants? I thought this is good to mention, because I seem to like alcoholic beverages too much.

Well, most anti depressents warn against alcohol use at all....

And the fact that your dad was an alcoholic is cause enough to stay clear...it does tend to be a hereditary trait.....

If you can, Honey, why not avoid it all together? Heck, you can buy non-alcoholic beer if it's just the taste that you like!

HUGGS!

You very definitely should nip this potential problem in the bud.

Donna Jean is correct, even though alcoholism is considered a disease it is a form of addition as well so if you have inherited the genes that make you 'need' alcohol as well as an addictive personality then you will find it very easy to become an alcoholic.

I am a second generation non-drinker but my parent's siblings and the generation before them - no one had a couple of drinks and stopped - they were all alcoholics.

My non-drinking is an act of self preservation.

Love ya,

Sally

Sorry, and this must let you all down, but I've been drinking a lot more. I've almost finished a 12 pack of beer, and I could get more this week... I'm not sure what is going to happen. I seem to like the taste too much. I'm such a glutton..

Amy.......

Honey....If you started again, don't look at it as a failure.....

Just try again....don't let it have you...

Like the taste?

Do like I said ...get Non-Alcohol beer....

Good luck, Hon...

I think the main thing I need to worry about is gluttony. Beer has a lot of calories. That, and possible intetactions with anti-depressants if I am prescribed. And then, I need to talk about it with the pharmacist. I drink in a responsible manner, but I think this topic could be followed up with a gluttony topic.

That's what I'd worry about more than anything else would be gaining weight! Not only that, except perhaps for methamphetamine, alcohol robs you of your years faster than anything else. (I've spent most of the last 22 years sober and look 10-15 years younger because of it.)

Now is the time to nip it if you think it has the potential to be a problem. Right now it's not that big a habit with you yet. Give it a few years of doing it and your body will become so used to it, stopping will be painful. Besides, as I've heard said in recovery support groups since 1988, "people who aren't alcoholics almost never wonder if they might be alcoholics."

Amy, Amy, Amy....what are you doing? I've been there sis, use to binge drink to a stuper and it nearly killed me a couple of times. I like the taste of beer too, that is why they have non alcholic drinks, tastes the same without the alcholol. Although I do not even drink those anymore. I hope you are burning those calories off from the beer.... Like the others have said and I agree with them, nip this in the bud right away before it get's out of hand.

Hugs,

Suzie

It's always a possibility that you may not have an addictive personality.

My daddy was addicted to alcohol and so was my grandaddy. Both were big time drunks, unfortunately.

One of my brothers has become quite the lush himself but I myself have never felt addicted to it.

And I've been out to Vegas 3 times and each time for extended periods. lol

But yeah, why gamble with it, right? Better to give it up now and not risk it.

It's never anything but a short-term numbing solution to your problems anywayz and it doesn't make any of them go away.

They're always waiting for you when you come back down.

Well, addiction is one thing I'm good at lol.I've cut my addictions from 5 to two, Nick and our children :-) Anti-depressants should not be mixed with alcohol. Alcohol can actually worsen your symptoms of depressions while on anti-depressants. Mixing alcohol with anti-depressants (or any other controlled substance) can actually make you more intoxicated or black out. Not to mention the HEALTH risks. When combined with certain types of beverages and foods antidepressants can cause a dangerous spike in blood pressure, leading to a stroke. If you have a history of alcoholism in your family its best to steer clear before you have a problem. and TRUST ME, it can happen to you. ANYONE can develope an addiction but they don't realize it until its too late. Try a non alcoholic beer.

Love,

Chelsey Hosler

I am a little confused about the word in your title there.    Defamation is a variation I know about, and it is akin to Libel and Slander in meaning, and could be the object of a court action or a couple of types.   If you are referring to the act of denying or taking away your feminine gender, ie. they keep using masculine names and pronouns or referring to you as  a "man" or "man in a dress", then yes it happens to me on rare occasion and if it is online, I simply block the moron doing it or leave the group where they are doing it, and may or may not come back if the person is there.  When people are willing to learn about Trans Folks I do give what are jokingly referred to as Trans 101 or even more in depth classes to the receptive and accepting audiences.  I DO NOT however try to teach a pig to sing, which as they say sounds like hell and annoys the pig.  If someone is invalidating your gender, get away from them safely and FAST.

My inner child likes to cuddle with Blahaj.  I know it's weird, but it works for me.

I'm not sure they can do this.  Not on line anyway.  LOL   Defamation?  Not that I personally know of.

Nice! I've found myself shopping around for astrophotography gear more than once but haven't taken the plunge yet. To close to a metro area to do it from my home.

It never occurred to me to be able to see them here in the south.   Maybe tonight if it's not cloudy.

Well, this last post brings my trans life up to date.  What happens from here is anyone's guess.  The next big milestone will be retirement, probably next year some time.  I don't think that will change things much for Sally because as I have stated previously, I am in a mostly happy place where she is concerned.    I do have a few more posts planned, as I would like to write in more detail about a few occurrences that were memorable to me.  Hopefully they will be of interest to others.    Hugs,   Sally

Has anyone been a victim of online defemination? and what to do about it?
    • Vidanjali
Yes, this is very therapeutic. You are able to see different aspects of your own personality. There is the part which has survived life thus far through decision making and lots of trial and error. That part of you is your wise and capable parent. When you feel strongly identified with the scared child in you, you can turn to the wise parent part of you whom you trust to guide you. You have faith and trust in that part of you necessarily because it has gotten you this far. Naturally, we all have room for improvement and advancement, but you can only start where you are and try to do your best with what you have to work with and deal with. But by adopting this attitude, you see that wise parental part of you become stronger, wiser, and more steadfast and skillful. Then the child in you increasingly becomes more trusting and carefree.

You want to hear coincidence? I just posted that and my neighbor just texted me and said she has been up early because there were Northen Lights outside. Then 2 seconds later I get an extreme weather alert. “We are experiencing Extreme Geomagnetic conditions observed and continued severe geomagnetic storms expected to continue through the weekend”.

No you aren't!!  There were reports from Texas, Arkansas and the Carolinas of spectacular shows last night.  This is a once-in-a-lifetime event, the best show since 1938, someone said.  Tonight is supposed to be just as good.  (OK, maybe a twice-in-a-lifetime event.  )

@KathyLauren That’s absolutely beautiful. Love those colors! That would be so nice to see some time. I’m too far South to ever see these spectacular events.   Very Nice, Susan R🌷
