My Thursday Appointment.

I had intended to write about this sooner, but I've been crazy busy.

So my appointment on thursday with my GT was the first one my wife went to. It had it's tense moments, to be sure, but overall it went pretty well. We did this communication exercise, where we were supposed to say things we've been withholding. So one of the things I'd mentioned was that I'd been coming here. I wasn't withholding it for any other reason than I'm pretty nervous bringing up anything to do with my transition, but I'd also wanted her to sign up here too, and was waiting for a good time to bring it up. I figured that was probably it :P

Anyway, she hasn't brought it up since I mentioned it, but I'm hoping she will, and join.

Also, I think before the appointment, she had preconceptions about my GT and was determined she didn't like him, but after meeting him, she's decided that she does ^_^ She even hugged him before we left, and that resulted in him hugging me, which I'd wanted to do before this, but was never sure if it would be appropriate. The next appointment is also booked for us both. I think this will help make it easier for me to open up to her.

I did find out while I was there that after he sends my referral to the endocrinologist, there's a 9 month waiting list :( I'm starting to think I should ask him to put it through now. I might not be ready just yet, but I bet I'll be in 9 months, or shortly after.

Anyway, ya, that's my update.

Well, Shi.......

Overall, that went well, I think.......

We have to tend to the feelings of our partners, too...it makes it better all around....

I tell my wife everything that I'm doing anymore...at first, after coming out to her, I took off like a rocket and ran over everybody and everything in my way....that was wrong....

I slowed down and included her in everything....

Way better now....I think that you'll find the same thing...We get so caught up in our new freedoms and changes we often neglect others feelings...I'm glad that you've included her!

But, Honey...that 9 month wait thing is just awful....(I got my HRT letter on a Friday and was at the doctor's office the following Tuesday!..DANG!)

Best to you both, Honey!

Canada must be more sadistic in the medical departments - I had my HRT letter and it took five weeks! I was ready to explode! But I used a ob gyn that was sympathetic to transpeople , I already have a endo - but he wouldn't do it.- (he works my diabetes) but he did give me a hug (then charge me $50 for the visit)!

Be patient. Thats all we transpeople can do. NO ONE wants to help us quickly get relief - it's almost like they are hoping we will change our mind (we wont) or that we have to 'earn' our transition. Frustrating... I wish a doctor would experience a broken finger "Sorry - we can give you some pain pills in about four weeks, and after you show us for two years you REALLY DO have a broken finger, we can set it for you.

Hi Shilo –

My GT finally met my SO this past Monday and she was impressed with her, as was my sister who’s a doctor.

I’ve been through hell the past week, but my SO is finally coming to terms with my TG issues and has been supportive, although it has been a rocky road.

She was supportive at first, and then was hurtful and negative, but now she seems to understand the misery that I’ve live through my whole life.

Keep your wife in the loop and let here seek out counseling if she needs to and make sure that she, at the very least, attends a session with you at least once a month.

It can be difficult, but not impossible.

Hugs! - Kayleigh

I don't think it's a matter of them wanting me to wait, I'm told there's just nobody else. He's that busy. But...I think there is the possibility that they also do want you to have time to think it through, I don't think they quite understand that most of us have spent a LIFETIME thinking it through. They're just trying to protect us...and their own behinds. Can't blame them for it.

Yep, Jim was impressed with my wife too :D He said she was strong and vibrant (and she so is most of the time, I really admire her for it). I know we have one more session scheduled together for sure, after that it's hard to say, I'm down to one appointment every 3 weeks most of the time now. Sometimes 2 weeks if the timing is better for us both (me and GT). We'll see how it goes :)

Good morning   well its big bike week this week American/Canadian made. Followed almost immediately with metric bike week.  And let’s not forget the Myrtle Beach Classic golf tournament last week.  Our business has been very busy. So much so I need to leave earlier to make certain I get my work done before I have too many people in the tpstore and can’t get it done.   Hi ho silver and away   Willow

I guess this was commonplace in females. But if your prostate gland is still in place this can contribute to urinal difficulties too.

https://www.hrw.org/news/2024/05/15/peru-chooses-bigotry-medical-services     The Health Ministry tried to put the best face on this unscientific gibberish of a decree, but it won't diminish the harm it will do to the Pervian trans community.  They undoubtedly already suffer from severe discrimination and bigotry in a very macho-opriented society.   Carolyn Marie

I'd never heard of it until reading this.  From the thread title I thought it had something to do with the state of Idaho.  But perhaps combined with something about Hobbits, which seemed odd.  My brain goes in weird directions.

I had my surgery 11 years ago, and yes, I too find it much more of an urgent thing than it ever was before.  One possible culprit is going to be T blockers if you are still on them, also the urethral sphincter which holds the pee back is closer to the urethral opening now and more subject to stimulation. When we gotta go we gotta goooooo!!

I notice that the Wikipedia article does not mention the U.S.A. which I can understand a bit.  The entire month of June here is Pride Month for all the organizations and is tied to the 1969 Stonewall Inn riots in New York and also our medical authorities are also not tied as thoroughly to the WHO as they are to the American Psychological and American Psychiatric Associations which write the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Health which is generally in line with the WHO which does not play as big a part in our medical practices here.  The WHO does not impact us the way it does the other world countries which is why we are in the dark about the day.  Ironically though, one of the U.S. States is named Idaho which sadly is one of the most conservative and frustrating to the U.S. LGBTQ Community.   The day is international though in the sense of other European and Southern Hemisphere countries it seems.

Hmm. Must have been that pesky 'International' word which made me assume that it was well known! I only became aware of it myself last year.   Brief history: May 17th is the day IDAHOBIT is acknowledged as it is the anniversary of when in 1990 the World Health Organization declassified homosexuality as a mental disorder. It was conceived in 2004 and first celebrated in 2005. It has gone on to include trans folk in 2009 and bi folk in 2015.   International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia - Wikipedia

A year and a half post op. I've noticed that once the urge to pee hits, I can only hold it for about 15 minutes or so until it gets to the point where I feel like I'm going to piss myself. I used to be able to hold it a lot longer (as I  remember it).  I know my urethra is a bit shorter now, but I don't think it is enough to account for this. Am I imagining it?

What a great moment @Vidanjali! It's always so cool knowing people are reading you in a way you want to be seen.

It's also networking.  Sometimes jobs come along because someone knows someone else - these older people might know someone.  "Hey, Ashley," someone might say,"My nephew is looking for love. He likes tall women. Whatcha think? Can he call you?"   Don't discount their ability to match make.  It is about networking.

He is simply doing to get more votes. He held a Trump for trans during his first run and found out the majority of his voters were against us so he simply followed the crowd.

The sad part is I'm the third oldest member. One is in their 60's and the other is past 70's. I'm even older than the president lol. It's a younger crowd that's for sure. I like to come here to feel young again lol.
