Hi all.

I'm Susan, I'm 63 years old and from the plains states region of the USA. I have been around a while, but dropped out of internet contact for a couple of years due to unrelated family and work issues. This time around I thought I would join Laura's because it is a good site, there seem to be a lot of good people here, and you can not get enough information. I have been a Casablanca Girl for all those years. You know, stuck there and waiting......and waiting......and waiting. I am also clumsy; I just deleted ten minutes of the most amazingly dazzling and hard thought out sentences, and then missed the undo button. Well, I thought they were amazing and dazzling. All the ones that get away are, aren't they?

The rules said no books, and that is good. I'm a terrible self-editor, so short stories are about all I get done, and even that hurts. I envy people that can grab a keyboard and just pour it out. I'm not open and outgoing about most things, in particular about Susan, and I assume I am much less so than I would be had I actually been physically born Susan.

I'll talk with you later, maybe stop rambling, and by-the-way, who has the cookies?

SusanKG

Allright, I see no button to post this, all I see is one thst says "Post New Topic". I will be upset if the computer eats the second try! Here we go!

Welcome to the family Susan

So nice to meet you, I'm so glad you have found us.

As far as the length of a post, as you read some more you'll get a general knowledge of how long the usual post is. But if you have something that you would like to say, please don't feel too restricted with length. Everyone's say is important here, so feel free to use as much room as you need.

As far as the cookies go, I'm unfortunately not much of a baker. But someone should be by in a bit to say Hi and offer some cookies, perhaps you could have them for breakfast.

BTW that "Post New Topic" was the correct button, when sending out replies you will be looking for the "Add Reply" button at the bottom of the screen.

Susan!

By gosh, I have the cookies!

Sally made them and I have a hot cup of coco for you, too!

Sorry about that, Hon....I got in late....I was out dancing with Brad Pitt...*whew*

Just let me say "Welcome to the Playground" sounds as if you already know your way around a bit....

That's good, then...

Why don't you get comfy and get to reading the different forums...lots to see and lots to do....

It's really nice to have you here!

Huggs!

Hey Susan,

I am so glad to meet you and I see that Donna jean has gotten you the cookies and cocoa so you are all set.

By the way there are quite a few of us more mature matrons here at Laura's you have already met Donna Jean and I am almost the same age as she is (she is a little older - shhh) and we both started on our HRT and real transitioning this year.

And soon Elizabeth K will be by - she sometimes checks in from work, she is very close to your age and I can tell you that while most women are coy about their ages for us it is a badge of honor that we made it this long because of the ignorance, lack of information and attitudes of those days.

So I'm 58 myself, and just into my 3rd month on HRT but the real transition - the important part takes place when you accept yourself for who you really are so you are well on your way.

Welcome to the family and enjoy your stay.

Love ya,

Sally

Hi Susan,

Welcome to Laura's.

From your post - " just deleted ten minutes of the most amazingly dazzling and hard thought out sentences, and then missed the undo button. Well, I thought they were amazing and dazzling. All the ones that get away are, aren't they? " -well, I like you already.

Oh, how I wish I could get oh, maybe, the last 10,000 lines or so back that have been /accidently/ deleted over the years. Usually mine are from my computer deciding on its own to reboot after I have put down probably the best phrasing I've ever composed. So what gets out there is a poor rehash. <sigh>

Anyway, we're glad you're here - enjoy, post, learn, share, it's all good.

Hi, Susan, and welcome to Laura's. I see you've already met my wonderful sisters and one very

fine brother, so now you're a part of the family. I'm the youngest of the Mod matrons you've met

so far, at 55, but I don't hold it against them. :P

You've found a wonderful and safe place to explore, make friends and gain information. We don't

judge here, and you are welcome to post any questions or opinions that you wish to. You can

post in any of the forums, but I tend to let the teens do their thing without much interference from

"Aunt Carolyn."

After five posts you can send private messages (PMs) to other members to carry on conversations

off-line.

Have fun and enjoy yourself.

HUGS

Welcome Susan! You seem very quirky and fun,

Well, quirky, undoubtedly. Fun, more doubtful. Some years back there was a new superintendent of schools, introducing himself by saying "he had a weird sense of humor, but he amused himself." Me? I amuse herself, so I guess that's all you can ask. Anyway, thanks everyone for the welcomes.

I make amazing shortbread if I do say so myself. Melts in the mouth! (the secret is real butter and LOTS of it! I use about 30% more than the recipes call for)

Welcome to Laura's! (officiallly)

Good morning   well its big bike week this week American/Canadian made. Followed almost immediately with metric bike week.  And let’s not forget the Myrtle Beach Classic golf tournament last week.  Our business has been very busy. So much so I need to leave earlier to make certain I get my work done before I have too many people in the tpstore and can’t get it done.   Hi ho silver and away   Willow

I guess this was commonplace in females. But if your prostate gland is still in place this can contribute to urinal difficulties too.

https://www.hrw.org/news/2024/05/15/peru-chooses-bigotry-medical-services     The Health Ministry tried to put the best face on this unscientific gibberish of a decree, but it won't diminish the harm it will do to the Pervian trans community.  They undoubtedly already suffer from severe discrimination and bigotry in a very macho-opriented society.   Carolyn Marie

I'd never heard of it until reading this.  From the thread title I thought it had something to do with the state of Idaho.  But perhaps combined with something about Hobbits, which seemed odd.  My brain goes in weird directions.

I had my surgery 11 years ago, and yes, I too find it much more of an urgent thing than it ever was before.  One possible culprit is going to be T blockers if you are still on them, also the urethral sphincter which holds the pee back is closer to the urethral opening now and more subject to stimulation. When we gotta go we gotta goooooo!!
    • VickySGV
I notice that the Wikipedia article does not mention the U.S.A. which I can understand a bit.  The entire month of June here is Pride Month for all the organizations and is tied to the 1969 Stonewall Inn riots in New York and also our medical authorities are also not tied as thoroughly to the WHO as they are to the American Psychological and American Psychiatric Associations which write the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Health which is generally in line with the WHO which does not play as big a part in our medical practices here.  The WHO does not impact us the way it does the other world countries which is why we are in the dark about the day.  Ironically though, one of the U.S. States is named Idaho which sadly is one of the most conservative and frustrating to the U.S. LGBTQ Community.   The day is international though in the sense of other European and Southern Hemisphere countries it seems.
    • Mirrabooka
Hmm. Must have been that pesky 'International' word which made me assume that it was well known! I only became aware of it myself last year.   Brief history: May 17th is the day IDAHOBIT is acknowledged as it is the anniversary of when in 1990 the World Health Organization declassified homosexuality as a mental disorder. It was conceived in 2004 and first celebrated in 2005. It has gone on to include trans folk in 2009 and bi folk in 2015.   International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia - Wikipedia

A year and a half post op. I've noticed that once the urge to pee hits, I can only hold it for about 15 minutes or so until it gets to the point where I feel like I'm going to piss myself. I used to be able to hold it a lot longer (as I  remember it).  I know my urethra is a bit shorter now, but I don't think it is enough to account for this. Am I imagining it?

What a great moment @Vidanjali! It's always so cool knowing people are reading you in a way you want to be seen.

It's also networking.  Sometimes jobs come along because someone knows someone else - these older people might know someone.  "Hey, Ashley," someone might say,"My nephew is looking for love. He likes tall women. Whatcha think? Can he call you?"   Don't discount their ability to match make.  It is about networking.

He is simply doing to get more votes. He held a Trump for trans during his first run and found out the majority of his voters were against us so he simply followed the crowd.

The sad part is I'm the third oldest member. One is in their 60's and the other is past 70's. I'm even older than the president lol. It's a younger crowd that's for sure. I like to come here to feel young again lol.
