Hi there, I'm new about the boards so thought I'd say hi. I'm not sure how often I'll visit; I frequent on a self-injury forum so I find it hard keeping up with two places, but wanted to join here as although I have a couple of transgendered friends in "real life" (though met online), thought it might be of help to talk with more people going through the same thing. I'm eighteen (well in January), "came out" when I turned fifteen and things are getting there, name has been legally changed and everything, and in spring I should start hormone blockers. Happy to have things going down the physical route, as I should be on hormones by the time I'm nineteen, but obviously it's quite a trying process. I have the amazing support of my girlfriend, and I've gone about three months without any self-injury (as I've been doing it for six years quite an achievement), but I'm afraid it may all start to get a little too much. I have two paediatricians, three psychs (soon to have a CPN as well), a counsellor and my GP, so I have all the medical support I need but as I'm sure you know, it doesn't actually always help in your head. I think I'm finding it difficult actually coping for once, and though I should be because everything is going alright, I'm afraid I'll cave in. I recently made the decision not to have any eggs frozen and I don't have long to change my mind, should I want to. I'd be interesting to hear other people's thoughts on this too? (Not on what I should do, just whether it's something anything you guys would consider).

Anyway, I realise this is actually kind of heavy for an introduction...I do apologize. In a nutshell (if you couldn't be asked to read all that) I'm basically and eighteen year old guy who's struggling with the fact that after years of asking for it, things are finally happening!

I wouldn't view it as being the mother as I myself wouldn't carry the child, but I can see what you mean. I just want to get other people's views on it as I don't want to come to regret it at all.

I guess I'm pretty comfortable with the idea of adoption. It seems that there are lots of unwanted children in the world and I think that it would be neat to get to be a dad to a couple of them. although, it is a little sad to think that I won't get to see my future wife pregnant and go through all the excitement of waiting for the baby to come and the delivery and stuff.

I would like to impregnate my wife, but that is impossible. It will be even worse if I marry a man. Not even a hope of artificial insemination there. Whatever, I'll adopt.

I don't know why any FTM would want to freeze their eggs. Then you would need a MAN to fertilize them, and you would always know that the kid came from inside of you. It would be a constant reminder of what you used to be. I would never do it.

I guess it's just one of those "to each his own" I guess. I mean some people just want a child but because of our condition we can't =/ I would never freeze my eggs but then again i would never want kids :D

What if your partner was a transwoman and she used her sperm to fertilize it?

That'd be pretty cool.

For some reason I think that would be the most awesome thing ever

Works if you're gay *points to self*

Personally, I would freeze the eggs, to be on the safe side. I used to always say that I'd never have kids, but that was generally just because nobody knew about my trans feelings, and I wanted SOME way to differentiate myself from girls.

When I really think about it, I wouldn't mind kids. And I really don't care about getting pregnant either. I abhor the idea of being called "mom", but that could be changed easily enough. The way I see it, I'm a gay guy who has the extra special ability to have biological kids with whomever I chose to be with. I view it as a gift. ^_^

I have three step-daughters right now, but I fancy the idea of freezing my eggs. I'd love to see my wife pregnant and do all that fun stuff; the waiting, passing out cigars, late night snack runs. She can't actually get pregnant but she could be artificially inseminated and that would be alright with me.

Hey there welcome.. First to address the preservation of eggs... If there is any doubt in your mind at all that you may have a desire in the future to produce a I would suggest you err on the side of caution and bank some. Whether you would carry the child yourself or a serogate would makes no difference.. I have found regret to be one of the hardest feelings to deal with..

Sounds like youre doing great on your SI prevention work... keep it up! I've not dealt with SI personally but things that are simuliar I guess you could say I know it must but tough but you can do it..

Keep your hands on the wheel, your eyes on the road and your head in the clouds... Youll make it through all of this and come out the end with a crown of achievment!

Best of luck diving head first into transition. I hope it is better then you ever dreamed it could be..

Take care.

Just really started reading this thread today and it is fascinating. Thank you for sharing @Sally Stone... I started shaving my legs (and chest and arms) about eight years ago when I was living apart from my wife. I decided then that there was no going back - I just love smooth skin and really hate hate hate body hair (I have quite a bit -- "Hey, nice sweater" people would say when I took my shirt OFF).   My wife is not thrilled but I think in time it just fades into the background and folks don't give it a second thought after the novelty of noticing it. And if they do harp on it, it's like why does it matter so much to you what my legs look like?  I am kind of here too -- I want to express myself more and more outwardly in a feminine way. But I don't hate everything about being a guy. I would probably go 100 percent female dress if society were more accepting of that (and family)...

I was stuck behind a truck for like 6 miles doing 30 in a 45mph zone and when I got the opportunity to pass it I took it. Sped up and passed it and then noticed the flashing lights behind me… I just got my first tickets (other than parking tickets) in the 26 years that I have been driving. The speed limit changed in that area and it was a long downhill grade so apparently I was going 60 in a 40 zone. I was so nervous that I was shaking. Speeding and no registration (it is fully registered and insured but I couldn’t find the registration card). It was still affirming though in that I used my license showing my name to be Lorelei and got “maam’ed” by the cop. He was very professional and told me to plead not guilty and that he would reduce the charges if I came to court. Hopefully he will reduce the ticket to something that doesn’t give points. He told me that I should have given him my PBA card (a friend of mine’s husband is a cop had given it to me) with my license, not after the ticket is already written. The registration ticket will go away once I provide proof that it is registered.  I already ordered the replacement registration from NYS DMV online. Unfortunately the registration is still registered to my deadname of Rory so I will have to bring that up to the judge unless I can get to DMV first to change it first. Overall, this morning sucked.

No idea, so far as I know, if you visit using one of the spammers favourite VPN IPs, you shouldn’t be able to access the forums.

I hear you. My therapist moved to another job at the VA.  I liked her a lot and was very comfortable with her. Now I have an appointment with a new one, but not till June.  I asked for the first one to be in person.  I think I'll be able to see what she's like better that way.

Hi, I’ve found a number of clergy in Orthodox Judaism who are privately supportive of transgendered people. The walls are slowly crumbling 😮

Hi Mealaini (what a beautiful name),   I applaud this attitude; I think that is such a healthy way to look at your situation. I have an ex-wife (who also has a beautiful Gaelic name) and we are such great friends now, having broken up, that we both agree our relationship has never been so healthy. She has found a man she loves; I don’t know if they will last indefinitely but I like him and he likes me and there are no hard feelings between any of us.  Anyway welcome, and thank you for sharing your story. I have been thinking of trying EMDR myself so it’s good to hear a success story.

I was in the field artillery in the early 70's.  At times we had to hump ammo.  A projo weighed around 200lbs.  There were very few women, they seemed to be mostly in the medical roles.  I suppose if you were openly trans, you'd have been kicked out for being gay. But I suppose things are a lot different now.  There are more technical jobs for one thing.  One of my daughters was in the Air Force for a number of years.  Started as an "airman", and came out as a captain (nurse).

I was mostly seen wearing boy's clothes at the time, my parents didn't show me my birth certificate until later on in life, but until then I wasn't old enough to start going to school, and so I hanged out with the rest of the other kids in my neighborhood. My parents decided to keep me home under their observations, they thought I was going through a phase, they couldn't figure out why my feminine mannerisms was consistent. One day at my parents' home, something happened to me which resulted in a car ride to the hospital's emergency room. After getting checked out, my childhood treating doctors couldn't diagnosed what was going on with me? It resulted in me being misdiagnosed and a family car ride back home, this was just the beginning of what would be a series of car rides back to the emergency room. My parents stopped saying I was going through a phase, now something physically was going on with me. Things at home got to the point when I heard my parents questioned about the gender marker on my birth certificate. There's more to my story, but it resulted in the aftermath of a surgical scar, and disappearance of that surgical medical records of what happened to me.

Reading your post, I need to comment I have breast forms and sometimes get a chance to wear them to bed. But wearing my lingerie they always fall out so I wear a more full coverage bra to bed so they stay where they are meant to!
