Hiding My Clothes

Hi everybody! I hope you all are excited to be close to Thanksgiving!

Tonight I let ALL my clothes out of hiding, it was laundry day... Most of my clothes, skirts, tops, dresses and the like have come from thrift stores.

I think this is universal, but there is a peculiar smell that accompanies clothes from thrift stores, not really offensive but definitely not all that pleasant. I decided it was time to get it all through the laundry. As I've discovered, many items are "dry clean only". Oh well, I don't think that will be hard to do but I'd rather not spend the money...is it expensive to dry clean a dress?

Anyway, as I was doing the laundry, I was so enjoying doing all MY new clothes. I feel awful that I'll probably have to pack them away again just after getting everything in my closet. CRAP

Still, it was nice having them all out and getting them clean. I was out of fabric softener so when I got it this time I opted for a nice smelling variety. The way things smell, me included, is so much nicer now when I get things "flowery" smelling. What can I use to make myself smell better? Aside from perfume? Something that is light and fresh? Any ideas?

I remember, not so fondly, the days of hiding my clothes. Sometimes out of necessity like in my college dorm or at my parents' house but sometimes because I couldn't accept myself yet - like when I lived by myself. It's really nice to get everything out , even if it's just for a moment. Thanks for sharing

Ya know, I never thought about it before, but clothes from thrift shops DO have a certain smell. I suggest potpourri in your closet(s) and clothes drawers.

As far as making yourself smell better: use scented lotion soaps in your bath water. And if you REALLY have a body odor problem, put 2 tablespoons of Lysol (I'm SERIOUS) in your bath water. It's what people used to do in the early to mid 20th century.

Here's a little piece of info that most folks don't know...

I but LOTS of clothes from a thrift shop (Goodwill to be exact) and they seemed to have a weird smell..

On my next trip I asked the lady what kind of detergent do they use on the donated clothes when they wash them when they've been donated...

She told me that they don't wash them at all....just hang them up....

OH..........MY..............GOD!

Well, needless to say...I always wash things that I bring home from there anymore!

Hello all:

It does feel nice to wash your clothes and make them smell all nice and clean. Just I am with the rest of you where I do not like the fact of having to put my clothes away. But, since I came out to my mom and sister, I do not really have to hide my clothes too much and yet I can hang them up in my closet and let them be nice and clean and bot have to worry about wrinkles.

But it does hurt when I have to take off my clothes and put on my regular guy clothes for work or going out.

I agree with everything that has been said. I too must hide everything....from my wife ! Only a month ago while I was away on business she uncovered my 'Femme' trove and binned the lot !

Fortunately I had two outfits hung up and covered among my normal male wardrobe, and a timely arrival from America gave me new hair, courts, legware and long white gloves, so I'm still 'in business', but need to revise my hiding place(s).
