Veet Depilatory Cream

It's time again for Liz's Once in a Blue Moon Product Review for Womankind! *applause*

Today I tested out Veet's Hair removal gel cream that comes with a mock razor for removing the goop so it's kind of like you're still shaving but you're really not so I don't know what all the fuss is aboot. Yes I said "aboot".

Ok so the item itself ran a little over $7 at Walmart and comes in Aloe Vera (the one I bought) and some other calming/soothing scent that still offends your nostrils just like Nair does when it tries to cover up it's rotten egg smell, albeit not as badly as Nair does it. Progress?

The 5.1oz can provides repeated uses if you're skinny, or if you're a fat chick like me you get about 1.5 uses out of it. The directions are straight forward: apply evenly to body hair you want to remove hair from (avoiding the genital area and not putting it on your face), wait a minimum 3 minutes and a maximum 6 minutes. Use said 'faux razor' to remove the depilatory goop from the affected areas.

Well, it's pretty much like shaving since you're still slathering on something and still rinsing this fake razor under running water.

The end result: incredibly smooth legs. Granted I found a few stubbly hairs that were strong enough to survive the chemical torture but I can hack those with a razor in the shower tomorrow no big deal. Or maybe I should laud them for their strength and unwillingness to meet the fate of their colleagues.

Either way, I was fuzzy...now I'm not.

Granted if I lived in a colder climate I'd be questioning why the heck I did this since my legs would be freezing the first time I go outside but living in a warm climate I can now wear shorts and not embarrass myself.

That works for me.

How long lasting is one use? I mean, after you do it...how long before another chemical spill on one's legs?

I've been wanting to give a product like this a try and you've given me the impetus to do it....if it lasts more than a couple of days!

It doesn't sound like it burned or irritated your skin either. I'll keep that in mind.

I found shaving to be not too gruesome an exercise, but its always good to

have options.

You do need to wack those stubbon hairs though. If they remain, they will lead the

resistance with the new hairs and give them hope, and then you'll have a hairy

revolution on your hands (legs, actually ).

Let me ask you this, though....

The bottle said to wait about 72 hours between applications. That sounds about right, too. Have to give the skin time to recover.

Ok ladies, I tried the other scent of this item with the exact same results both in hair removal and in offending the nostrils.

..actually it doesn't small as bad as Nair.

Small word of advice, if you apply this product on the back of your knees, be sure to stand or extend your legs while this product is working. I didn't and now I have a little dark chemical burn line across the back of my knee.

and here I thought the adage "It burns because it's working" was true. Well I guess it was, it did work....
