My therapist gives me copies of documents all the time. Information packets, articles, letters, etc. I've considered typing them up and making them available to members here, but I'd like to know first if anyone would be at all interested before I commit the time to it. I'm a pretty fast typist, but it's still a lot of paper. If it would be useful for anyone though, I'm happy to do it. So....any takers?

Shilo,

That is really sweet. I am seeing a therapist also but, she does not often give me things to read. So I would love to see what you have.

Thank you so much for the offer.

Shilo, I would also be greatly interested to read what your therapist has given you to read. Don't feel like you have to but if you do than Thank You.

Some of it was intended for my own benefit, and some of it was intended to help me with the coming out process, so it's all pretty useful, and applicable to everyone who fits under the Transgender term, not just MTF. So I'll start with the package he gave me Thursday. That one was compiled by someone else who sees him, who has just come out at work. This was the packet she made up for her employer to help educate them regarding her situation. I'll also add the letter she typed up for her co-workers to explain to them what's going on. I don't know for sure that she wrote it herself, or if she found it somewhere else, he didn't say, but it's very well written and might be something anyone can use, with little or no changes.

Might take a few days though, my work days can be long, and it's quite a few pages.

I'm definitely interested! I don't have a therapist (yet), so I'd like to have as much info as possible. :D

I got something you might be particularly interested in then. It's a fairly lengthy document that lists all the known effects and risks of HRT, approximate pricing (I believe it's in canadian dollars, but I can't remember for sure, but still a good guide), and lots of other information about the transition process. I'll type that one up second. That was a big one though, so don't expect it tomorrow :P

Thanks, Shilo. That's really nice of you. :)

We'll take a look at the stuff and if its really useful and we don't already have something like it on the site, we'll consider putting it or a link

to it on the Resource Pages.

I suspect most of it is there, the only real benefit to what I have is it's all compiled into neat packages. Not sure though, I might have something new, I have to go through it all again.

hello there shilo. As a mtf pre-op highschool student without a gt, I would love to have some information. I'm sorry if I sound kind of forward, but I don't really know another way to put it though, I'm sorry for that

Hi Shilo,

Can you scan the documents anywhere? It sounds better than doing all of that typing.

Thanks, Kat

No, the only person I know with a scanner is my boss....and that would just not be good right now lol. Wish I could though. Closest I could come to that would be photographing with the digital camera, and I'm not sure that would really turn out very good. If my fingers get sore I might give it a shot :P

Oh this is a good one :D i have a therapist but i have yet to get any info off her. shes more about telling me about things but not actually giving me material so i can look it over again later. so everything shes already told me is gone from my mind.

This is really sweet of you Shilo =)

Ugh, mine doesn't even do that, he asks questions, and then in the last five minutes of the session *might* say something, but it's usually just confirming what I've figured out myself anyway. He's confirmed that he thinks I have a gender problem, which was good, but has told me absolutely nothing else and given me no materials or anything. I didn't even know it was the 'done thing' until I read your post, Shilo. So yes, if you would be able to copy that information in some way, it really would be enormously appreciated.

Not a problem :)

I'll try and get a start tonight, but I'm still working (officially anyway) right now.

It's kind of upsetting that some of you have therapists that are so ... vague. I must be really lucky, Jim just spits everything right out. Three or four sessions in, he just came right out and said it "Well, you certainly meet all the criteria, so I guess you'll need to make a plan so you can get started on hormones". I was stunned lol. He's not like any other therapist I've ever seen. Which I suppose is why I stopped seeing the others after one or two visits, having told them nothing.

Okie, first one done. It was a bit longer than I thought it was.

Firstly, I want to say that I copied this as exactly as I could manage, including formatting. I did make a few punctuation changes, but that's it. I did not add or remove any content, nor do I take credit for any of it. The material, I believe, is mostly gleaned from the sources listed in the document, but I'm not sure what was from there and what was original to the person who compiled the information. I also don't know the identity of this person, at least not yet, though I believe it's my GT's intention to put me in touch with her when he sees her next. At that time, and with her permission, I'll credit her for this document.

This one is basically general trans information as an introduction for people you're coming out to, particularly employers in the case of the person who provided it. It's pretty thorough for just being a basic introduction.

I hope it's useful for someone, my back hurts from all the typing

Anyway, here it is

This is perfect ^_^ My dad has accepted me but he is sort of in the dark about it all and wants to learn more but didnt know how to go about it (he is computer illiterate)

So im gonna read it myself, print it off and send it his way. hopefully it will enlighten him a little bit ^_^

Thanks very much! :D

Hehe, I'm find DeeJay, I'll get the next one started as soon as I can, but it's quite a bit longer, so it'll probably be a few days. I managed to get that one done in a relatively short period of time yesterday, but it was my day off. I don't have another one until next Tuesday now, so it'll be slow going :P

It's good stuff though, and I'm really looking forward to getting that one done, I think it'll be good for a lot of people.

This is an outstanding resource, Shilo. Not too technical, not too wordy, its a great summary. I'm printing it and will give

it to my wife to read. I didn't see anything I would disagree with.

Thank you for taking the time to make this available. Much appreciated!

@KathyLauren This is how the jurors broke down the award:     Being labeled as a molester and sexual pervert can and has done that much actual damage in terms of repair of the damage through a wide variety of means including legal fees and loss of livelihood in any job or profession.  As this said the idea of "reckless disregard for the truth" means that the performer was able to show a level of damage that will affect him now and in the future.  The $900K+ figure was a matter of real evidence of the damage.

Well, it has been an interesting morning.  I stayed home from service to take care of a partner.  She's the youngest of us, and I'm usually not her first choice for affection.  But this morning she curled up in my lap right before breakfast, and told me she was feeling ill.  And then threw up on me about 30 seconds later....   I guess the smell of the food is what did it, poor thing.  On a hunch, she took a pregnancy test and.... yep.    She's been married to our husband for 10 years, and this will be her 6th, so I'm happy for her.  We took a shower and she got back in our nest to sleep some more, which is probably the best medicine of all.  Maybe she'll feel better this afternoon.

Article said $250,000 of it was "punitive."  To me, seems like the whole thing was punitive...which I don't think is appropriate at all.
    • awkward-yet-sweet
Biden himself is driving that "divisive wedge."  Could have done without the anti-gun garbage in his statement....it makes it seem like all LGBTQ+ folks agree with their agenda.  Which simply isn't true, and makes life difficult (and unsafe) for those of us who prefer to live in rural (and non-Democrat) areas.  Pride month would be happier for many (and more socially accepted) if it could somehow be separated from ancillary political issues.
    • KathyLauren
I haven't seen the ruling, but it is unlikely that the entire amount was for actual damages.  The majority was likely punitive, as it should be.
    • awkward-yet-sweet
Unless somehow this caused a million dollars worth of damage to somebody's livelihood or life, the amount of this judgement seems excessive.  Not something I would call "uplifting" or anything to be pleased about.

You do have what are called Receptor Cells in your body, that take the T or E and actually put them to work structuring your body.  I learned about this from a genetics study being done through the University Of California that I took part in through a Transgender Conference I attended.  Turned out  that my actual T receptor cells had some extra bits of protein in their make-up that they knew inhibited certain (unknown specifically) functions of the hormones.  My Endocrinologist even commented that he was not as concerned about what my blood levels were because the level in my blood stream was not doing anything, it was what the receptor cells did with it that mattered.    That said though, to me it seems like your T actually has done a pretty good job on you from what you say.  Just like my direction of MtF, males come in so many different editions, shapes, and sizes that to me you would fit in there just fine, maybe not in your personal ideal of masculinity, but you seem to fit in the box pretty well from what you are saying.  I  would get back with your Gender Therapist for a bit to get help on self acceptance of where you are.

Good morning everyone,    It’s another rainy cool morning here in central Indiana so in spite of getting up at 06:30 to quickly get Parker outside to do his business, then scoop him up some kibble and fill his water bowl. We’ve been cat napping with the Smithsonian Channel streaming Arial America.    Well said @Willow about being Trans Enough.    Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🐛🦋

Thanks you for posting.  Is Eli your chosen name?  I'm not surprised that you have heard the complaints of MTF folks and their struggles.  We all see our own struggles as being the worst.  That being said i've known quite few trans men who have gone through a great struggle.  While our social difficulties are real i have found finding peace with myself has been every bit as hard if not harder in the long run.  That has little or nothing to do with passing.       I definitely am privileged as an educated white person in an accepting area.  I have to accept that as well.       As to HRT, the time will come if that is the path you change.  Facial hair, as well as body hair, a deep voice and slight but powerful physical changes will eventually allow you to pass.  As i waited to start hormones i found it was a time when i could start the long path towards self acceptance.  I will never be a cis woman and finding peace with that can still be a challenge for any trans person.   Hugs,   Charlize
