Yvonne Gets Out!

Sweet Sisters,

I have to tell you that Carolyn Marie has been a driving force in my life, lately, as has Jonie. Both have been out as themselves, while I'm locked up.

My situation is unique and I just can't go out yet, but I'm on a trip out of town and have my chance. Got my carry letters printed, but no hair and no makeup. It seems the makeup and wigs that I have from my old cross-dressing days just won't get it, any more. The wig looks like a dead animal on my head and I'd hoped to present more like a lady than the old makeup I have will allow. :D

Here in the US, I've been chased by a nasty weather front with snowstorms, severe cold and wind. Unable to find a wig store in city after city as I've traveled, it's been a week of frustration. I've been crying a lot, and I do mean a lot.

Finally, today. I found a nice wig store and bought 2 really nice wigs and I do mean nice. Wore one out of the store as a male, had it on all day. Tried a bunch of cosmetic places, no luck. Found a Lenscrafter store for proper glasses and a great sales person to help me pick out terrific regular glasses and some really neat sunglasses. Asked her for a place to get makeup and she directs me to a department store at a mall down the street, where I found a very sympathetic young lady, who really did a great job of capturing my essence with the makeup. It's difficult to tell I'm wearing it and *I look fab* with it on.... :D

FINALLY, I can go out. Went to dinner at a nice restaurant and had a great time. I was easy for everyone to make and have no voice yet, but I just made like Jonie and went anyway. I first had to stop at a convenience store to get some beer for later in the evening. Summoned up all my courage, walked in the front door and was treated very well by the female clerk, who went out of her way to wish me well for the evening. All others in and around the store showed no reaction.

Had a nice time at the restaurant, no other patrons showed any reaction at all. The staff was very courteous and a few of them had a little fun with me, but nothing cruel or unusual. The waiter had to bring out the chef "because I'd complimented the meal so highly". I'm pretty sure he was saying "get a load of this gal", but, who cares?

I'm very relieved, encouraged and feel great about myself, which I really didn't, sitting there with no makeup and no hair a few days ago. (I've got serious baldness and just started on Propecia, which should fix that over time).

So, thanks Carolyn Marie and Jonie, for the encouragement and the push.

I love you both and I love Laura's. It really IS about one little step at a time.l

Babygirl,

Yvonne

Doll,

When I bought my first good wig,I had been to the wig store as(him)

to set an appointment for a fitting.I walked back into the store three

hours later as my true self, much to the owners surprise.(she is used

to cross dressers that do not venture out in the daytime).I left my

very cheap wig with them and went to Walgreens to get some lipstick

and gloss the fitter suggested. Then took myself out to eat,for the very

first time enfemme. It was exhilarating and so wonderfully freeing to let

the world see me as a woman and didn't care what anyone thought.

I felt gloriously, wonderfully, beautiful.Every baby step counts as they

keep adding up to the full blown woman taking her place in the world.

Enjoy Sweet Sister and a Big Atta Girl Babygirl!

Love,

Angie

Well, of course after spotting that headline, I had to stop in to see who was talking about me in front of my back (or is it in back of my front, or...oh, who cares :P ).

Lo and behold (I love that phrase) but its Yvonne, newly liberated and out on the town! WOOT!!

That's a great story, sweetheart. I am thrilled for you. :D What fun for you. You did it. See, wasn't that so easy?

I'm so glad everything went OK. You've found the same thing I have - that most people in most places really try hard to be nice, whether they know or

not. Retail people especially, all they want is to make that sale and not chase anyone away. My very first experience was also in a wig store - went in

presenting as male and got treated wonderfully.

This is just the first of many such fun times for you, hon. I have the same wish for you that I have for myself, that pretty soon it will all be so routine that

we no longer even think about it, or think its worth posting about. Until that day, post away, Girlfriend. I want to know every detail.

Oh, and you are most certainly welcome. You're post has repaid me a thousand times over. :)

Love

Carolyn Marie

WELL DANG!

I missed this because you people KNOW that over here in Ohio I go to bed with the chickens! (we have little blankets and really small pillows, but, they like my company, I think....)

Yvonne...you snuck out and I didn't even know about it!

What a cool time you had, too!

Gee, getting those wigs and eating out...getting made up... Carolyn an me should of been with you....you could of bought us lunch and we would of had a ton of fun talking and enjoying each others company!

But, it sounds as if you had a blast anyway!

Wow, what a giant step that was for you, Honey...amazing, really!

Yeah, Carolyn and Jonie gave you the impetus to hit it this hard and everything went off without a hitch.....

That is wonderful!

And, you had beer for later...dang!

Nicely done, Sweetheart!

HUGGS & LOVE....

Congrats Yvonne for getting out,

I was where you were last year, fearful that everyone is watching, but that is farthest from the truth, nobody really cares, now a year later i have my name changed and am living full time and go everywhere with confidence.

Yvonne,

I am so glad that you had such a great time but I thought I should warn you about Propecia - it is not to be handled by women who wish to become pregnant!

That just reminded me that one of the first E-mails I ever received on Sally's account was an ad that was headlined, "How to insure a healthy pregnancy" - Talk about your affirmations!

Good for you girl!

I would have said, "You go Girl!" but it has been done.

Love ya,

Sally

Sweet Dee Jay,

Thanks a lot. Your encouragement has been a key, as has Angie's and many other sisters here. Another thread talks about emotional roller coasters--last week, bald and ugly, I was really low. And crying. And questioning myself.

I finally had to get up and say out loud: "Do what you can, with what you have, where you are." Things finally all fell together like magic, after over a week of chaos and frustration.

I also had to tell myself that this was a long journey and things don't just happen on a schedule that we'd like them to.

I will say that if I'd had you and Carolyn there with me, we'd have put out the "closed for private party" sign and really had some fun. Probably got arrested, too.

Thanks, sweet girlfriend,

Babygirl,

Yvonne

We had soup and steamed rice for dinner tonight.  Simple, basic, feed-a-ton-of-people kind of food.  With strawberries for dessert!  We have a huge strawberry patch, so I spent a couple of hours this afternoon picking.  And there's some left over, which I put in the downstairs kitchenette.  Time for a late night snack!     Outside of meals, I mostly live by nibbling on fruit and a few green things.

Well, it is officially summer.  85 degrees outside the last two days, and GF is sick and irritable.  I have to curl up under heavy blankets in my nest, because she's got the AC turned down to the point I expect to see icicles growing on the ceiling.  This is what life is like when your partner is an arctic creature. I should be used to it by now, but just when I think its nice and warm, she has to freeze me.

I just can't resist.  Does all that mean that.............the bird is the word?

Well, that might be interesting.  At least since she's 24, its not like you're on the hook for expenses.

Been using the wok on the back deck a lot the last few months.  Just got another stock of udon noodles from Amazon and we are using those in the stir fry with onions, peppers and a spicy peanut sauce.  I did this often in the 90's too, but back then I was just using a standard Coleman camp stove instead of this high BTU wok burner.  I've had the burner for a couple years, but haven't been using it regularly until recently.

I’m a lefty. Learned to be a bit ambidextrous for certain tools that assume right handedness like scissors, but couldn’t write with my right hand to save my life.

Tangent, adjacent, opposite...  It's still rock n' roll to me.  I don't know about the "in god we trust" part of the money, but I like the lady with the scale.  And then I look left at the Indian statue on my mantel of Guanyin feeding a drop of liquid to the dragon at her feet.  In god we trust?  The lady with the scale?  Maybe this is too binary.  And then on the other side of Guanyin is that kind of pelican wood bird that sits two feet tall that I hauled back from South America through the Panama canal.  The beak broke in 1998 and I carefully saved the pieces (as I usually do) and attached them back about a decade ago.  I used a drill to make a small hole and then put a finish nail in there.  Then a hole on those two pieces that needed to be attached.  Upper and Lower beak.  There is still a seam showing.  I could cover that up, but the beak is a bright yellow and well, it's better with all the pieces in place and I don't mind seeing the crack.  I guess that is the tangent and the other two are the opposite and adjacent. -money  Why don't coders always code the "-" action in their search fields?  It's not that difficult!

@April Marie Yes, it's something to shop for at least for 6-8 weeks.

Definitely points to learn and keep in mind.  A bunch of stuff I had put in mental "cold storage" thawed out a bit there and ready again to run through my mill.  As said, a bit long and as usual from her a tad bit challenging.  Overall I see it and can use it as a working hypothesis.
