Well I was a Moody Blues fan and loved Buffy Sainte Marie-----I met her and thought she was the most gorgeous woman I had ever laid eyes on. And years earlier as a little kid my mother introduced me to Jane Russell who was attending a tea my mother had hosted. Oh! My! When she bent down to shake my hand my eyes nearly popped out of my 10 year old head (you older girls will understand why! LOL) Well back in those days I started having crushes on guys and I was developing breasts.

Her music was fantastic, I longed to meet her but never did or could; boy how I would love to get hold of some of that music it would be wonderful to meditate to. Mike, good news/bad news on the ring. I attended 5-7 (depending on how you count them) colleges and Univs. before I finally got my B.S. (I was in the service and moved around) and only went to the last for a year, was married, didn't do much campus stuff, but went through graduation, so I didn't get one then. 7 years later I returned to grad school, went straight through, got my Masters and my spouse got me a ring. It was stolen about 10 years ago. I may get a replacement when I'm rich again.

Oh yeah, another pre-civilized Alaska moment - I had a car which few enlisted men did, and was taking some buddies on a tour of Anchorage, (they had flown into the base and hadn't seen the town), and we drove through Earthquake Park, remnants of the 1964 quake, and there was this gravel back road leading towards the civilian (socalled international) airport that I had flown into. I took it, and looked around and all of a sudden there were hangers on both sides of me, and I looked in my rear view mirror and a DC-3 was following me. Try doing that now at any large jetport.

I know what you mean, Honey....

I used to have to fly commercial on occassion when I was in the Air Force...Often one of the stewardesses would notice the wings on my uniform and tell the pilot.

He would then invite me up to the flight deck to ride the jump seat to trade stories..(Many were ex military)

THAT doesn't happen anymore, either!

Joanna---you can see videos of her on YouTube from her earliest tv performances to live performances of her latest music last year----she won another Juno Award for her latest CD BTW and she still looks and sings great at 67. I'd seen her live 5 times, the last time in the mid 90s. You can pick up her record albums at used music stores too.

BTW, anyone remember Melanie Safka? "Candles in the Rain?" Another one of my faves from the 60s. How about the Mamas and Papas? They came to our little town and did a show at the local armory right after "California Dreamin'" and "Monday Monday" hit the charts---they had booked our town having no idea they were gonna make it big time with these songs. I was standing right up next to the stage during the whole show.

He had a lot of same on LP records and some rubbed off me i guess. All

Ah ha, Viv, you are the youngest chick in the henhouse,right.Yes, the Glenn Miller {Jimmy Stewart] was a great movie just a bitter-sweet ending. MY wife tells me that when it came on the radio that Glenn Millers plane had gone down, the women just wailed. It was a really big deal.Mike

played the piano and became very ill and Im sure he died from some ailment in his

head .The movie was such a tear jerker, my old man was made of steel but that movie

had him and my mother bawlin like a starving babe . If you ever see the movie on dvd

Lizzy, well now you know why you're trans. Just think how much money you can now save;no more GTs.

Oh yeah, those platform shoes, they were a real hoot to dance in. Felt like I had cement on the soles ha ha....But, I did like the BGs and the disco with John Travolta. Just think of all the music phases us old farts have gone through. lol..
