I am starting to finally accept myself and that I am transgender. I would like any help and advice for shopping for womens clothes for someone in their mid 20's. I have been to Victorias Secret but they do not carry much in my size 16 - 18 and 44 bust. I was referred to a Lane Bryant at a different mall by the clerk at VS. The clerk at LB is a friend of the clerk at VS and has been very helpful. Jessica, (the clerk at LB), even stood up for my right to shop when a GG questioned my use of the dressing room. Looking for other options because most of the stuff, except bras and panties, at LB seems to be for women 30+ and wearing to the office. Any help would be appreciated

You might do what we all like to do and that is shop around. I have tried JC Penny, Dillards, VS, Lane Bryant, and multiple others. You just have to go in and look around. I use the mall because there are multiple stores at one place and if you don't find what you like at one, you can just walk a little bit and go into another store. Happy Hunting

I've shopped at them all. But I'm lucky to be a small male and don't have to try things on. Now I'm trying to learn how to pass up things I see - that's tough!

If you have a Fashion Bug outlet near you they might be worth a shot, I can get somethings there but, being taller, generally their slacks are too short and I dont stand a chance with their shoes.

Now that I'm out and about on a (semi) regular basis, I find much less need to shop on line, especially

for shoes. I've now had to return four pair because they were too large and am really tired of it.

I want to be able to try them on and walk in them before I buy.

Clothes are much less of a problem, as I seem to have my size down pretty well, and catalogues

are so dang easy to use. On the other hand, I HATE waiting!! :D

I shop wherever they sell plus size clothes. However, I'm starting to avoid the big box stores (Walmart, Kmart, Target) as their plus size is limited and doesn't always fit right.

Lane Bryant, Catherines, Avenue, Fashion Bug Plus .. those are where I go now. :)

Since I still have to dress feminine around my family for the time being I guess Im allowed to chip in with advice? I was preggo 3 years ago and was a size 16... I shopped at Target and Walmart a lot because they both had cute stuff at affordable prices. Remember, more expensive does NOT equal better. It just equals LESS FOR YOUR $. Another thing I do is thrift store shopping because sometimes its just fun. Planning a thrifting day this weekend actually.

OMG!

Wal Mart and Goodwill...that is where most of my clothes come from...

But, at Goodwill I find brand new items such as Lane Braynt, Victoria's Secret, Fashion Bug, Cato... and many still have the price tag on them!

I have a VS top ...new for #3....

Beat that!

I like to do my shopping at Hot-topic and other places in the mall. But some times I find walmart to have some good things that I like their.

At first I found it hard buying female clothes for myself that Ihad to use my girlfriend at the time as my excuse (she also wore clothes the about the same size I did) when I had to ask for help getting some of the stuff that was up high or when I would buy it. I have gotten more comfy buying stuff with out worrying but I feel a litle more comfy when my best friend is with me and she got me a cool vest at hot topic over x-mas (it was also my gift even thugh I got to pick) and I love it!! but sadly its already feeling a little smallish and i'm hoping i'm not giong through another growth spert.

Hugs

Ganny

Thanks Davie! And don’t worry, I didn’t take it that way. It’s just such a big topic I can only hope to tackle it one bit at a time.

This is not uncommon.  I started out going to the therapist in androgynous clothing: from the women's department, but plausibly masculine.  What made it easier was when I started going to a trans peer support group.  Most of the people there were presenting fully feminine, so I looked out of place in my androgynous clothing.  The peer pressure made it easier to dress in skirts.   I started out changing in a gender-neutral bathroom near the meeting room.  But I soon started wearing skirts in the car to and from the meetings.   Yes, it was nerve-wracking at first, but I soon realized that no one was looking and no one cared.    You can do this.

In my last session my therapist is starting to suggest that I need to start exploring my gender identity in a more tangible way through wearing feminine clothing at least during sessions.  I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around her seeing me actually en femme.   I love and trust her, but the thought of being visibly feminine is scaring (and thrilling) me.  Is this a common thing in gender therapy?  How do I get past the fear?  More importantly, what should I wear?

I felt the urge to date and felt just like a teenager again. I have recorded my journal titled Ashley's Life From Start to Present. I was very moody and agitated and happy. I think it was my body's way of being in shock. After about two months it got better. Remember that you aren't the only one transitioning because your wife is too. Consider yourself lucky because I lost mine because of it and so have many others. Just enjoy the ride.

I'm sorry for asking so many questions about your situation. I'm in your camp and believe you should be able to be whoever you feel you need to be. I guess it the Union Shop Stewart coming out in me. I want you to be treated fairly as well as respectably. You're human, you're a client of theirs. Especially if you're paying money to be there.   Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Views, terminology, and aspects of how events came to be....aren't those directly related to the news item?  If not, I'm rather confused.

Second warning, this has gotten far and apart from the NEWS item that it started out with and is becoming a flat out battleground over political leanings and terminology.
