I've been on a quest for perfect, skinny legs for a while and thank god for my lucky asian genes (no offense intended towards anyone, just my subjective approach on legs), I can make it possible. I now officially have nice, slender legs with good and fair curves but I have only one problem. When I sit with my legs bent my legs look perfect, but when my legs are straight, my knees tend to look out of place. The dark, manly look as you may say. I think it has a bit to do with the bone structure of the male kneecaps and not to be someone spamming the forum with random, useless questions that don't need to be asked; but does anyone have any ideas for this problem? Otherwise I guess I can pull of a near flawless MTF. :mellow:

Toro,

I think that your concerns about your knees are purely subjective. I am sure that your legs look just fine sitting and standing.

I have to agree with Brenda on this one. Don't beat yourself up on the little things. We are our own toughest critics when it comes to our bodies. I am sure your knees look just great with the rest of your legs.

Hello Toro,

Have you ever noticed hun ,,a womans knees look small cos her thighs

can be pretty big in comparison to the rest of her legs ,,there"s a tapering from

buttock to ankle,,,,,that"s what us girls here are looking for :blush: ,luv,viv :)

Yep...women's knees look smaller due to the fat around them that gives them a smooth and blended look...men's knees tend to look "knobby".

Hi,

yes, the upper leg of man looks skinny compared to one of a woman. Also woman store fat in the skin. That make a knee look smoother than that of a man.

I also have nice and skinny legs and up to know I am happy with my knees. But my legs compared to the upper half of the body are much to skinny for a girl. So HRT will help I hope.

Well - just a note of personal experience.

On HRT coming up on 14 months - great results. One of the first things I noted in the female fat distributuion that I am now experiencing, my knobby ankles disappeared and so did my skinny knee caps - so it DOES change - took about 6 months for me. BUT my thighs and hips are VERY SLOW in getting fleshed out. AND they ARE doing so. I bought girl jeans size 16 - had to go to 18 to allow for a bigger butt! Not that noticaable yet - "but," it is happening (no pun intended!)

I want to lose in my waist - go back to that 16 - maybe a 14W.

I suspect it will, like my breasts, take about 6 to 7 years to fully evolve. So many girls are so 'boyish' in their hips at first. I am actually only a 16 year old girl in development! Starting late like i did my therapist is ticked about the fact, she says, my boobs will never get droopy! 62 year old woman with 'pert' breasts - wow!

But don't worry - the female fleshing out is a result of the new chemistry.

HOWEVER- the old male fat distribution does NOT go away on its own. You must lose that male weight and then when you gain some back it come in like you want it, as a woman, your birthright - your curves - FINALLY.

AND

Your hips are set at that male angle - you cannot change your bones! So the end result will be very close, but not exact.

So to transit perfect we have to loss as much male fat before HRT as possible and than eat a lot to place female fat. If we try to loss male fat durring HRT it will not work. So it is not a shifting of fat inside the body, it is removing male fat and adding new female fat.

I think it is also usefull to diet before HRT. With a male body it is much more easier to burn fat. The daily energy amount is 2500 kcal. For a female it is only 2000 and than if we not stop eating like a man, we get bigger and bigger.

Some years ago you could see young girls (14-16) with a very tiny butt but a lot of fat above the jeans. They shot them into 2-3 sizes smaller to get that tight fitting look for the jeans, but the fat above destroyed the hole image. It look like a anti waist.

I have heard from people who have had knee replacements that the joint is physically different between men and women. I know a woman who was one of the first people to have the surgery before the doctors realized there was an anatomical difference. She actually had to have the joint replaced because she could not walk properly. So, I would suspect there are also differences in the skeletal characteristics of the knee cap that will not be affected by HRT.

You cannot change bones, but soft tissue changes in ligaments, tendons and muscles can have pronounced effects on apparent skeletal characteristics. I have read several reported cases of hip rotation and an ensuing change in the way people walk , smaller shoe sizes and decreases in height after years of HRT.

I got my hips replaced in 1986....had I been smart, I should of told then to space them out another inch or two! Dang!

But, my knees are bad, too.....

This time if I get them done, I WILL demand woman's knees!!!!!

After all, I am a woman!

Yes - the bones tend to remain as they originally developed, but the soft tissue and ligaments ALSO realign from weight loss and posture change. My shoulders narrowed somewhat - making my neck look better - but it was losing 36 pounds plus all my muscle mass atrophying from the lack of testosterone. They slope at a slightly different angle now.

Yes - Google skeletal difference between female and male - but other than size, there are few cues. It can be difficult to identify sex of a person from a skeleton. Humans vary so much! There are small boned, delicate men and robust, large boned women in the world. There is usually such an overlap we trans can still accomplish transition without trouble.

Thank goodness for that! I am tall - but I see women almost as tall or even taller than I am - about half a percent (1 in 200) maybe. I know I pass as a very tall woman. BUT I pass!

And yes - for any hip, knee or otherwise replacement! Be gender speciific! "I'll have what she is having."

I guess I can't relate to this issue personally I've never noticed this skin tone difference in anyone, but yeah like everyone has said we are our harshest critics so really your legs are no doubt perfectly normal in others eyes.. well at least to non-asians! :P

What did your mum say about it? Or did she just butter you??

Nobody knows about this. In everyone elses' eyes I'm just a feminine metro sexual with long hair and a girly face. Thanks for the replies everyone, it really helped. :)

Actually you can continue to loose weight on HRT and it will come off the male areas first, because your body is no longer programmed to put it there so it wants rid of it. But obviously if you say eat 2000 calories and then do 2000 calories worth of work, you'll just burn off what you ate and never touch your stored fat, so I guess for redistribution you'd have to binge and then workout like mad for a few days, in a cycle, which can't be terribly healthy.

Also with your GDA take into account that your GDA will be higher than that of an average woman for a while if you have closer to typical male % muscle mass.

Hi,

what I watn to say is, that you are trained as a man to eat 2500kcal per day. If you want to make diet you need less than that e.g. 2000. tha with HRt you must eat 2000kcal to hold your weight. If you than start a diet you must also eat less e.g. 1500kcal. So compared to the start the different is now 100kcal this is nearly 50% of that what you eat and I think it is hard to do it in one step going down from 2500 to 1500kcal. Doing it in 2 steps is easier + increase power output with doing sport will also mor effetic with male body. I read that MTF people slow down with HRT and that they are not able to do their planed workout. Many of them incease body weight during HRT.

      Hi, you can be a trans man and be agender aswell. I know it seems like a contradiction, but I see myself as non binary and I'm accepting myself as a trans man also. You could be called trans masculinine also. If you like trans man the best though, go for it. You can be a GNC trans man.  Have you heard of gender fluid? Not saying this is you, but it does relate to what you say. Sometimes you seem genderless, more agender and sometimes more masculine. I also see myself as a bit genderfluid, but only for the masc genders. I never wear anything fem so would never consider myself a fem boy. I used to think I was , non binary, then a demi man, trans masc,  trans man. I can't pin a label to what I am. My counsellor said I may be genderfluid, but a very masc genderfluid person. I love that you hate societal gender roles, I do too! I dress like a stereotypical guy because that's my style anyway, but I won't change my hobbies or personality to suit what a "man" is.

      @Lydia_R   I seem to recall my mother making us cream of wheat or Quaker rolled oats in the wintertime. I don’t know about “old fashion” or “steel cut”. Now I preferred either with sugar and or berries and the cream of wheat with some milk.  I believe my older sister liked her’s with maple syrup.   as far as a “larger culture”. I think you will find that even though we all support each other there is no singular culture.  There are conservative values shared here and there are very radical everyone for the cause and rights.  I like to think that I am someplace in the middle.  No, I don’t go to Pride events nor transgender day of remembrance .  I don’t go to clubs or bars where others hang out.  I do try to hold council with others that need someone to talk to or a hug, or if I know of a group that might be helpful or a doctor, I will pass that on.  But yes I am out of the closet, go to work and church and do everything as a woman.  The male side of me is gone.   i get asked personal questions sometimes and while I neither get mad that what they are asking is too personal, I also don’t speak out oh yes ive done this or that or plan to do this or that.  I leave it with I've done everything I intend to do, or I didn’t figure this out until I was 68 years old because I knew nothing about what being transgender was. You have those that were kicked out of their home, I wasn’t, those that got divorced, I didn’t and those that have to put up with others who refuse to accept your gender, your rights to be who you are, and that I do get every day.   so is there a representative culture for being transgender?  Tell me I’m wrong, but I don’t think so I think we are a suppress percentage of the population that are getting braver but who get trampled all the time.   Willow

      Hi Ashley,   Thank you so much the reply !!!   That makes total sense with trusting the process and knowing that it’s not a sprint but rather like a marathon like you were saying.    So far so good with the Spiro 2 days in. Other than peeing a lot lol. But, no other noticeable side effects which I’m happy to report. However, I am MUCH happier that I’ve started at least somewhere. Gender Dysphoria symptoms are VERY real and starting treatment has made me SO much happier.   But, I will definitely look into the other options for E as you mentioned as there are definitely other options to consider other than the systemic route, thank you!!    p.s also trust in the process yourself and don’t be too hard on yourself. You’re a beautiful girl inside and out no matter what. “Patience is a virtue” is a proverb I’ve always lived by.   Much love girly 😊❤️

      Update: I have been put on blood pressure meds to lower a minor case of hypertension.  This has seemed to help the sore danglies quite alot. This was unexpected, however very happy this issue "may" be solved.
