Just Saying Hi

So I've been reading through the forums for the past week and have used the chat a couple times as well (probably for a bit too long hehehe) and feel like I may as well say hi and introduce myself. I don't really know where to start........ Anyways I'm 26 years old and I live in Michigan. I am a MTF in hiding to my family but out to couple of my girlfriends and I have a therapist who;s the greatest :D . I've acted very feminine my whole life and suffered a great amount of ridicule and being called gay amongst other things I wont say all through school. I'm a girly girl but also a bit of a tomboy sometimes. I did build a very manly facade to get by... just having a hard time keeping it up lately. Ah the first time i dressed I was somewhere around 8 years old (don't remember exactly).. One day I hope to have the confidence to make a full transition, but it's very hard for me to go out 'en femme' because of the fear of ridicule. For income I mostly am a tattoo artist but do other art occasionally, and believe me in the tattoo society TS is not very welcomed. My hobbies include songwriting (I play guitar keys and synthesizers and electric drums and love to sing), taking long baths, painting, dancing, and cooking. I also love kitties XD. Everyone I've met here so far has been great and I just want to say it is so nice finding friendly understanding people :D I feel very 'at home' for the first time.

peace and love,

Peetey

Hey, Peetey, welcome to the Playground.

I'm glad that you've enjoyed your stay so far. The Chat Rooms are great, aren't they? A little too manic for me, but then I'm getting a little long in the tooth.

On the other hand, I just celebrated my new birth day last week when I started HRT. :) So I feel YOUNG again!

You seem like a talented young lady. We have a few musicians here, Sally among them, although she is far too modest to say. You're in good company.

Enjoy the forums, hon. I look forward to reading your posts.

Hi Peetey,

Welcome to Laura's. As you've already seen a little bit, it's a great place to learn, share, and enjoy. Lot's of great people. Even some Michiganians (or is that Michiganders?). We're glad you're here.

Hugs

Hey. :) Welcome to Laura's Playground, the most welcoming and close forum on the Internet. I'm surprised TS is not welcomed in the tattoo community. I'd think that a group of people who are not only artists but engage in behaviors but are not entirely mainstream would be more accepting. Anyway, I'm sure you will enjoy this community. :)

It would be fitting if he took a dip in the ocean while he is up there in Massachusetts and the great white eats him. Maybe it is just me, but tell me again how this guy is supposed to be a great actor?? I just do not get that vibe. It is mind of matter. It is my mind and he doesn't matter.

Slide rules ruled. Wow, that takes me back to the 70s. We actually had to solve problems with longhand in some situations. No calculators where I was. They were just beginning to emerge. My dad had a simple calculator that could add, subtract, multiply, and divide. That was state of the art for the time. Reading was actually required to get through school. There were no PCs, no YouTube, no Google. VHF antennas ruled. Few folks had cable. I would take that all over again.

Welcome @Arushi!  My opinion is there is no right/wrong about this.  You know, it's natural for people to perceive you differently and act differently if you present differently than you normally do.  My Zen meditation background makes it easy for me to just do my own thing, but you know, if you go out in public you also have to deal with other people and their thing.  That reminds me of the stoic books I've been reading the last few years that talk about being in a "forum".  So this is a virtual forum here and being here was a step in bringing my transgender side out into the public.   Hugs, Lydia

@Arushi - Actually, to put it more simply, a friend of mine had a phrase that became very important to me.    How can it be wrong when it feels so right?
    • Timi
Thank you for sharing, @Arushi. I'm hearing how in your element you feel when dressed as a woman. I think that the feelings you have are the best answer to your questions.    In my journey, I'm finding that once I started opening up to myself and to other people, things started to change within me, sometimes unpredictably. Some of the best advice that I have received is to be gentle to myself.    I am glad you found this group and I hope you find support and community here.    -Timi

"We have no knowledge of who the hell we are, and if we don't get it back soon we're all going to die," Dreyfuss said in a video captured at the event.   Richard Dreyfuss's comments on women and LGBTQIA+ community at Jaws event prompts cinema to apologise - ABC News   His shrill comments have exposed him as someone who has lost the plot.

You are so welcome Charlize. I think it is too late for that hope, though. On release of the Cass review the New York Times called Hilary Cass "the hero we need in these times". I hate to think what the right is going to do with this, and I know it has already been referred to by those justifying bans on gender-affirming care in the US.
    • Timi
Oh wow! Congratulations to you too, @Mirrabooka!

Bit of a mini-vacation for us starting tomorrow. Going to Melbourne and seeing the Odd Couple play and staying over, then flying to Adelaide on Friday and going to the soccer that night, a friendly game between the Australian women's side and China. Back home on Saturday. It's how we roll. 😎
