Prayers Requested

I just recieved the most distraught news a parent could here on Friday. My 15 year old son has Glaucoma, the same eye disease I have that caused me to go blind. His eye physician checked his ocular pressure on Friday and it was very high. He has been closely monitored by his physician for a year now since he was diagnosed with Glaucoma. Friday morning she checked his optic nerve and said that the Glaucoma has done some damage to the nerve. How much she does not know but it is damaged. She will be doing a visual field test in a couple of weeks to determine if any vision has been lost. He does have to have eye surgery though. The eye medication that she had him on is not keeping the pressure stablized. He has gone through a slew of eye drops since his first diagnosis. I pray that my son will not go blind from this dreadful eye disease. I pray that the surgery will be successful and his ocular pressure will be stablized and not go up any further. The technical term for what he and I have is progressive advanced open angle Glaucoma.

Oh, Suzie, that is horrible, terrible news. I could not, as a parent myself, bear to here something like that.

I don't know what to say, other than to offer my most sincere and humble prayer that your son retains his sight. I know you must feel powerless to do anything,

but I trust that the doctors will do everything they possibly can.

My heart goes out to you. You and he will be in my thoughts.

Keep your hopes up, Suzie. Good things happen to good people, and you're good people.

Suzie,

Sweetheart you know that your big sis is praying for you and your son.

I know all about glaucoma but mine is held in check with eye drops alone while my mother's did damage before detected and had required multiple surgeries but she has not suffered any more sight loss.

Hopefully the surgery will do the trick.

Love ya,

Sally

Thank you everyone for your support and prayers. I have learned that he has lost some vision in his left eye, how much we do not know until he has his visual field test on the 18th of Feb. At this date we will know more about when the surgery will be scheduled.

Hugs,

Suzie

I will continue to pray for his sight. Hopefully he has only lost minimal sight and the surgery can save what he has left.

Love,

Sarah F

Thank you Sarah. I'm hoping the same and will find out on the 18th of this month, which is coming up shortly.

Hugs,

Suzie
