Anyone See The Who At Halftime?

I watched the halftime show of the Superbowl and thought The Who did an awesome job. For old men in their 60's they haven't missed a beat in my opinion. I also think they can still out rock these younger rockers and their is no comparision to the light show they had. Looking at them may make feel old but their show tonight made me feel young again...What did you think?

Yes, they are getting old and they're voices show it, but i cant imagine doing that in my 60's. I always loved The Who and they did a great job.

Thanks for the opinion. They were my one of my favorites when I was a teenager, centuries ago. Those old guys are my age, and they're able to perform at a pretty high level, I think. Also was impressed with the light show - it added to the performance where sometimes it gets in the way of it.

Yep. Kat....

Loved it!

The light show was awesome....

And old rockers! Well it was good and fun!

They couldn't hit some of the higher notes, but, I've been enjoying them since the mid 60's.....

And only two of the originals are left....

I enjoyed it!

Donna Jean.....won't get fooled again!

YES! No Wait it was The WHO, not Yes (my mind is so fragile - for those of you who remember)

I loved it - all of my favorites!

I know that you youngsters think that all they did was the CSI themes - but they did so much more.

What a great time for M-m-my, G-g-genration!

Loved it - the music, the lights , the fireworks , the smoke - waht a show!

Love ya,

Sally

A local sports caster thanked Janice Jackson and Justin Timberlake for the 'costume failure' that promted the NFL to abandon the youthful crowd and brought on the Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen, Paul McCartney and now the WHO!

It is a ridiculously overblown multi-media event but they do a great job of converting the stadium from a football field to a concert stage and back in just a half an hour.

And the lighting was unbelievable - with a stage that even had their logo rotating around them at times and spelling out 'Who are You, Who, Who!"

I loved it - I like seeing the older rock acts but the performance is to short, maybe if they played four 15 minute sets with the clock stopped between numbers and the football game was played during a thirty minute intermission I might watch the whole game but I didn't have a horse in this race.

Love ya,

Sally

The Super Bowl has rarely interestest me. I mean, I never even paid attention to either the Colts or the Saints during the regular season, why should I really care now (except I think Peyton Manning is waaaaaay overmarketed).

I find SuperBowl Sunday a good day to go skiing. Lighter crowds that really start thinning out after lunch. Usually the day is a reasonably nice skiing day.

When I got home, I turned on the tv to see the score and it was halftime, and I remembered that some geriatric band was playing but I forgot, um, who. (no pun here, really!!!). I'm looking at the two lead performers and I think, uh, I think that's Roger Daltry. Is he still alive? See! I can still remember some names. I watched about a minute or two and switched it over.

I did see the great second half kick-off. I personally think every team every time should do on-side kicks. Why not? If you don't trust your defense, you've basically already lost. Switched elsewhere, (Puppy Bowl, some movie), switched back and the Saints are leading 31-17.

Hey, Saints won. Isn't that kharma or something?

FUN

The WHO is my generation (resisted the pun) and I was thinking - WHAT ARE THEY THINKING??? OLD GUYS!

They started weak - old guys with old voices - BUT got into voice and took off for a grand show. The light-pyrotechnics show was the best I ever saw - and remarkable when you consider it was a quick, temporary set-up! We got our moneys worth! (payment? Watching the 96 commercials dutifully and without complaint)!

BUT

I do like the modern stuff - Justin and Janet shot their opportunity - I felt sad they had to revert to a taudy bit of exhibitionism! They are talented on their own without that - but everyone was just embarrased for them.

Not on the level of the WHO! Maybe my generational prejudice!

But I also like Lady GaGA and Taylor Swift (who - what a contrast) and Beyonce is spectacular!

So - it seems the half-time was to keep us out of the refrigerator and glued to the TV. WORKED.

And yes Sally - I had a horse in this race! Waited 43 years for it! You are too accustomed to 'America's Team' to appreciate a dark horse hee hee - I feel! The Saints have only won one regional playoff. To GO to the Super Bowl was a miracle for us - to win? INCONCEIVABLE (Princis Bride). I remember wearing a paper sack and yelling for the 'Aints not so far back!

It was our time! And the WHO? A reminder of our other days - when being young, it was our time!

Quite a trip for some of us. Tain't always that way - coulda been the Stupor Bowl - Like that boring Pro-Bowl! Turned it off an watched the "Emmys"

On-side kick - to start the second half? INCONCEIVABLE.

HEE HEE - still floating! Everyone here is! People pass in the street and say "who dat" to each other!!!

Who played the halftime show? ;)

Yes!

Who played the half time?

Of Course.

Let me ask another way what do you know the name of the band that played the half time show?

Yes!

Yes?

No - the Who!

The Who?

That's the first thing you've gotten right all day.

Gotten it right, I don't even know what I'm talking about. Who was on bass?

I don't know but the Who played the halftime.

That's what I want to know, Who played bass?

The Who is the group.

That's what I'm asking you!

You have to be old enough to know Abbot and Costello to appreciate that one.

Love ya,

Sally

Wow! Hopefully that encounter is amicable! I can only imagine what might be going through your mind right now!   I was a bit of a prude, I don't even need a whole hand of fingers to count my sexual partners on. Good old fear-based Catholic "sex ed" did its number on me.   I get nervous walking into men's rooms. I don't look the part for the either restroom these days, I guess. I did use the women's at the convention I volunteered at (the restrooms were temporarily made gender free though), it was nice having a stall to use without waiting.   The whole bathroom debate is so stupid. Genital-based restroom assignments aren't going to stop people intending abuse and there are laws for handling them already. It's the fear the laws strike and the conditions they creates is the problem, fomenting distrust and hate. Who cares who is in the stall next to you? Let them pee in peace!

Good morning! Just finishing my delayed coffee after fasting for routine bloodwork.   Just had my annual physical and I came out to my Dr. He was so kind and said if/when I want to start HRT they have a couple endocrinologists who specialize in transition and he could give me a referral. So nice! Not quite ready to jump into that yet, but he was so understanding. Another small step in my social transition. I feel so happy! 😊

Not a quote, but a poem; "Invictus," by William Henley.  I had it hanging on the wall of my office for many years.   "I am the master of my fate, I am the captain of my soul."

I am ambidextrous. I learned to write righty in school so I usually write with my right hand but my handwriting is better if I use my left hand. I use a lefty mouse. I am physically stronger in my left side.

Easy, I have felt the same way, not quite to the point of wanting to quit but sitting there one dosing morning and thinking "what am I doing?". I am in a crazy place right now; family is moving across the country, I am being laid off for the first time in my career and have to find a new job, and I'm in the middle of this gender journey that seems like it makes everything harder than it could be. I'd always been a "man with boobs", even when I was in my 20s and really skinny I had breast tissue, and now I'm accepting of that and want more but in a different way--I don't want to be a man with boobs, I want something different. I am something different, but it's hard because of nearly a half-century of social programing. So I empathize with your struggle, very directly.   I haven't dressed "male" for nearly six months and I just volunteered at a conference with my femme nickname and she/her pronouns on my name lanyard. The whole experience was great, I didn't feel a minute of anxiety or worry. That stuff comes at home, when left to my thoughts. Which is more telling? The comfort being Mae in public or the doubts and worry in private?   When I look in the mirror and see this more feminine me, it calms down the doubts and worry, so I'm starting to allow myself to trust in the former.

Totally!  I started HRT 21 months ago.  I'm 53yo now.  I mostly did not want the feminine genes of my family to take me over.  I told my doctor I wanted athletic breasts.  She has kept me on fairly low doses and I'm avoiding progesterone so far.   It's mostly mental for me.  Taking the pressure off from not having erections is soothing and changes my thinking.  I just want that stuff gone.  I had fun with it, but I'm over it.   I'm extremely happy with what has happened with my breasts.  Perhaps it took more than a year, but they have a feminine, athletic appearance now.  I don't notice changes in the rest of my body.  I've always enjoyed being thin and straight and have no desire for curves.  I can dig that butch with a feminine touch look.  I was upset at cutting my hair, but I'm liking it now.   It's fun to see all these young transwomen in my environment.  Everyone has their own style and the younger generation has a style of their own compared to us older people.   OK, back to baking a pie and doing some knitting....

I have one daughter who is left handed.  But she is fairly ambidextrous.  Apparently you have to be.

The time I spent "on the street" was mostly in the woods.  I dislike cities.  Even now my "bathroom" is out in the back yard, and has been for years.  When you're used to it, it's not so bad.  Helps one keep up with the seasons. I have no desire to live on the street in a city. Most of my adult kids live in cities.  It's nice enough for a visit, but I still prefer the country.
