So are there any problems receiving your pension when you do change you name and gender on your birth certificate ?

Honey.....

Are you talking about a company pension or Social Security?

I'm sure that there's a sea of forms to fill out and file, but sure, you'll be able to get it....

This is for US Forces;

There shouldn't be any issues at all. Updating your birth certificate is only at the state level, not federal. Updating your SSN may cause an issue if you delay updating everything.

DO touch base with everyone prior to your name change. Make sure you get a persons name and direct phone number that you will be dealing with.

You will need to talk to several organizations. Honestly, I don't have the list of names in front of me. But, off the cuff its;

1. Go through MyPay and navagate that to a contact number and talk to customer representative. Do that after the 5th of the month. Piror to the 5th they're moving tons of records to support payments on the 1st. They will need a month, maybe two to make the change. Avoid having your direct deposit going to a new bank the month prior or the month afterwards. It would send a red flag for sure.

3. Your branch's Department of Records. They'll change your DD214 for name ...but I can't remember if they do it for gender as well. I think they do but only on the DD214.

3. Contact your bank for the name change.

4. Contact the Social Securty Administration for your name and gender change.

MyPay ~ retirement paycheck, name change

Department of Records ~ DD214, name change

Your Bank ~ Name change

Social Security Administration ~ Name and gender change.

Contact everyone a month out prior to any changes. Talk to supervisors when you can. Get names and direct phone numbers. Try to contact everyone on the same day for the name change. Write everything down, who you talked to, when you talk to them for date and time. If you have to fax anything to anyone make sure you print out a send/receive receipt of the fax.

So long as the retirement funds are going to the same account number you should be ok.
