Just read Navy Girl's post here and I commend her and, any Other's “serving actively” in the defense of our country. Well heck….

Even those that support our country by taxes (nothing political), Industrial and Human Services activities (except the politicians ((yes political))!!!, that serve us so well............. (Dora puts on a smirk).

I served in the Viet Nam war as a Navy Medical Corpsman assigned to the 3rd Marine Battalion.

You think yours was macho. I ate macho nuts, drank macho coffee and am relative sick of all this macho competition. (Does macho mean I can walk away from a federal crimes, join the MC and get a total reprieve?).

I walked away a better person for my grief, and for learning what a human life is worth. No different than others that gives, gives and gives.

I entered the service voluntarily 'cause my Parents couldn't deal with a black sheep going from Kansas to San Diego CA. for 2 boot caps, then was assigned my first duty station on May 5, 1969 headed for St. Alban's Navy Hospital, Jamaica NY. Culture shock!!!!!!!!

The military wasn't shocking for some odd reason.

Met my soon to be wife in March 1970 and we were engaged by May 1970. We were married on Nov. 7 1970. Been married ever since.

A lot of stuff has washed under the bridge since then but we have both survived mentally and emotionally relatively in tact.

Sometime during the Winter of 1974, I wore a pair of panties for some un-remembered reason and found out then that it was a pretty nice feeling to have that fabric so tight around my … ???, and I guess it dawned on me that a pair of panties were pretty nice to wear sometimes (I remember my first pair), and have been that cross-dresser since then.

Their might have been several earlier childhood influence that made this change so easy but those memories won't be put into print until my book (probably 25 years after my death). I don’t want to serve torture time…

Suffice it to say we all have our roads into this paradise, or hell, depending upon your current state of mind and, today I am looking forward to experiencing new challenges with my sexuality, my marriage (no, I won't put that on-the-line..), and my intelligence.

So far, I have been an accomplished war veteran, a commercial photographer of some distinction, a commercial aircraft mechanic, and most lately a Human Services/Psychology Professional. While serving mostly kids, it has always been in my spirit to explore sexual identity (even when professors have seemed to crinkle their foreheads at my questions).

I have an enormous wardrobe (just bought the best fitting pumps at Target [Virginia 1/2 size larger]) than I have ever owned. More panties and bras than my SO (she wears hers more frequently). More toys, more everything I identify with as being female.

Sometimes it's overmuch and sometimes under-much but, wherever I end up, I get a thrill like no other than to feel and be Femme for even a short while.

Even though I still feel shy about my emotions…

Hi, Dora, and welcome to the Playground.

Thanks for your service, first of all. I have tons of respect for anyone who served.

We have lots of CDers here at Laura's; one poll showed about 30 per cent of the membership. So you're in excellent company. One of the unique

things about this site is that we treat everyone with the same level of respect and support and love, no matter where they fall along the gender

spectrum.

There is, of course, a Forum for Crossdressers, as well as a moderated Chat session on Tuesday's, I believe. You are welcome to post any forum.

We have some great resource pages that might interest you too, on fashion tips, links to fashion and accessory sites, and other helpful items.

Please look around and make yourself at home, because you are!

Welcome aboard! I was born in March of 1970, so it was a good month for the both of us :D

I will say I am jealous that you can buy shoes off the shelf at Target. I always see shoes there that I would love to have, but would never fit these boats I have for feet.

luv

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome,

Yes, I have read the rules andI have been here and there on Laura's. Been checking things out for about a week.

I look forward to using the forums and chatting about all the fun, and angst, it is to be CD.

Shoes off the shelf. Not exactly but close. Shopping with my wife I spotted a pair of pumps that looked prety nice until I reached up for them and felt the height of the heels and the general shape. I really dislike the pinty toe variety and the ones with the inch thick sole. Only problem to be had was these were in plum color and a little to big. I were a 9 1/2 men's and these were 10s. Took them home and slipped them on and I was in love... so off to the internet and online at traget to zeo in on my choice. Tada.. perfection. Takes a bit used to stability with 3 3/4 inches but I think I've made several good 1st steps.

Having the chance to really talk with others is a privilege and I feel very welcome here at Laura's.

Thanks again all.

Thank you Snow White.

Dora has been my pseudonym, correction name, for many years. I've never met a Dora before but I bet she is all you attach to it.

I remember reading a post that asked what's in a name. For me and Dora it seems to be everything. One of my favorite names is Gwen and I've tried to use it elsewhere but it never felt right. So here I am Dora and that's that! LOL.

About the chat room, yes I've seen the rules and such and when I can I will venture in to say hi. Is it formal or casual.. I have skirts and all for both.
