Three Months Clean...

I still get the urge to smoke, but because I have a reason to quit (smoking affects the efficiency of the hormones) I have a drive to resist. Each craving only lasts something like up to ten minutes, I'm strong enough to handle that, especially now the winter months are over for another year. I won't be strating hormones for ages but I figure it's better to stop now before it's too hard and too late.

I only smoked on-and-off for the best part of a year, but if anyone wants to talk about quitting, feel free to hit me up. ;)

Good job Adrian! Quitting smoking is not easy. I used to smoke quite a bit, but decided it wasn't worth losing my lungs. Every now and then I'll relapse and I'll have just half of a cigg, but it doesn't happen very often at all. Congrats man! Keep up the good work!!

That's fantastic, Adrian. You're doing great, and you will really benefit from quitting. Are you using meds to

ease the symptoms, like patches, or just doing it by willpower? If the latter, then you are one strong-willed

dude.

My parents quit after a lifetime of smoking, and they felt so much better and were so much healthier as

a result. Being you, you will recover much more completely from the effects. Hang in there.

You cannot see this Adrian but I am standing as I applaud you.

That's right, a standing ovation for an important job well done.

You have the right idea - stop now it is easier than when you are trying to start your hormones.

Congratulations, sweetheart!

Love ya,

Sally

Thank you for all your kind words :D

To answer a question further up, I have quit purely by willpower... "Cold turkey" style in fact, which I persaonlly believe is best for any moderate smoker who has not developed a hardcore habit over a period of decades (in which case it might cause a lot of stress) otherwise you will taste half the cigarette and be tempted, and go from having one freebee from a friend once a month to buying yourself a packet so you won't feel like a freeloader and so you are stocked, so you think, for the next week if you pace yourself... In actuality, if I had a pack of twenty for a week, often I'd smoke twenty. A day.

Thanks peeps :D

Now I have a different problem on my hands... How to lose the weight I got from eating too much in place of cravings...?

When you get on T its easier, but for now, its just , like you said, will power. Try first to stop drinking ALL soft drinks, including diet. This has to be permanent.

Then look at what meal plan works for you. It is really reduing intake and exercising more.

Adrian........

I smoked, too........

Not much in the big picture...maybe a pack a week....

But, I knew that when I started female hormones that smoking increased the risk of blood clots for us....

And, I thought..."What the helll, ya can't transition if you're dead!"

So, In the can they went and I haven't touched one since...

What it takes is motivation. And will power!

Hey, can I have a bite of that chocolate?
