Amusing Story

When on the phone, I am tagged as a guy 100% of the time. Well, I have been working with one of the reps for a vendor on a project via phone for about 6 months. Yesterday we met for the first time for a lunch meeting. The hostess took me back to the table where he was sitting and talk about a startled expression! He was expecting a guy and in walks this older lady. He recovered quickly and the lunch meeting went well. I suppose it was a bit mean of me, but I rather enjoyed the startled expression he had for a moment.

Michelle hon, i get that too on the phone, when Bob from AT&T was at my home installing my uverse Tuesday and ran into trouble yet again he was talking to his level 2 support, he handed me the phone and we talked for a minute or two, after i handed it back i heard the level two support person refer to me as him, Bob told this guy that my name was Paula and that i was a she not a he, he was all apologetic.

If people see me in person there is never any question that i am a woman, i just have a slightly deeper voice than most woman do on the phone, something i am working on correcting.

Funny

I once used my female voice and speach patterns on the phone to a bill collector. We kept calling me 'sir' and I kept correcting him. He was very skeptical - I know he didn't buy my story but I stuck with it. He did accept my payment by phone! Ha

Other times when I am not trying I get yes ma'am on the telephone.

And I pass well - my therapist says my voice and inflections are okay. I do need to be consistant and I am working on that. I can be sir'ed at the ordr microphone and ma'amed at the pickup. Visual cues are everything for us husky voiced girls, I guess,

Michele....

That's priceless!

So many of us get upset when we get mis-gendered in one way or another...

But, lighten up!

It can have it's humorous side, too.....

I lol'd at that!

Gee, you enjoy making people sweat, don't you?

HUGGGGGGGGS!
