Blah.. Safety Issues/fear

My mom always watches things like America's Most Wanted, Cold Case Files, 48 Hours Mystery. Most of the victims seem to be women. It made me kind of scared. Why would I willingly become something that's such a high target for crime? I could live a safer life by not transitioning. Oh, don't get me wrong, that's not going to stop me. It's just silly fear. Isn't it funny though, that a thought like that would even occur?

Dont find that odd at all, i'm sure many of us think about it i know i do, but we cant let fears rule our lifes can we, (if i only could take my own advise on that

I guess its all a part of the prosses so you shouldnt beat urself down, you have come a long way already Michelle and there will be some bumps in the road but your on your way.

Of course that is not a silly fear...a fear is a fear...and never silly.

Just do what other women do when they have this same fear...go to a self-defense class...there is all types of defense classes to take just choose one that best suits you. It won't take the whole fear away but it makes you feel safer a bit...and more aware of your surroundings.

Its a great thing to take...for all types...women, men...all of the above...

There are advantages, and disadvantages to being either gender really. You just want to be yourself, which is female, and that's why you don't care about the disadvantages you take on when becoming your true gender. Just like me. I have socially transitioned to male, and now I am expected to walk all of my female friends home at night to protect them from . Which means I get home about two hours after I have left the pub and made sure they're all ok. Which I suppose could be seen as a disadvantage of being male. But I don't care. Just make sure you always have a male friend, and preferably a scary looking one, with clipped hair and a long dark overcoat like me to look after you. The ironic thing is that my female friends would probably stand more chance if they were attacked than me, in practise I'd probably be an easier target, but I just don't look it. lol

*hugs* It's okay Michelle we all have our silly fears. Just remember that the chances of that happening to you is pretty rare especially if you are safe and don't live in a bad part of town. Sergei is right, each gender has advantages and disadvantages we just need to focus more on the advantages

*Hugs* No worries Michelle, like Lisa said I think all MTFs and probably some FTMs have had this fear. Just be aware of your surrounding and you should be ok. Also, try not to put yourself into situations where you feel unsafe and again you should be just fine!
