What's Your Girl Style?

At least from the pics in the photo gallery there seems to be quite a wide range of looks and styles for us MtFs. I was thinking about my own style and where that comes from. First of all I am a mature woman (from the generation where a woman _never_ tells her age, LOL!!!) Anyway as a kid I loved the glamorous women in the classic movies from the 1930s up through maybe the early 60s. Anyone remember Merle Oberon or Norma Shearer??? Do you remember their jewelry and silken gowns? Well add to that the fact that my mother was a runway model. She ended up buying the evening gown for herself she modeled once and that gown is still in her closet today, along with the rhinestone necklace and earrings----something of the class you might see women wear on Oscar Night!! I love glamour and bling. For me the last of the fabulous fashion role models were Sophia Loren, Elizabeth Taylor and Audrey Hepburn ("Breakfast at Tiffany's") They were classy women, all! I so love that high class-look!!

On the other hand I have a dear friend I shop with whose style is soooo different. She is younger and she is tall and willowy and her style is definitely the 70s mod style. I help her with her hair and make-up remembering her style is very different than mine.

Reserved I guess. Not into gowns,short skirts,lace and frills, not crazy over pastels or gaudy prints, flashy jewelery. I'm a child of the 40's and 50's. One would think I'd be into Poodle skirts, crinolines, etc but I'm not.

Great idea for a topic, Ricka.

I love bling and wear it when I can. Bracelets, big earrings, bangles. I love the clink they make.

I'm fairly conservative in clothing, being a middle aged woman I don't go for mini skirts and such.

I love feminine looking sweaters & blouses, with frills and lace, and ankle length or just below the knee skirts and dresses. Peasant skirts are nice.

But I don't mind pants and jeans too, with a pastel blouse or sweater and a pretty necklace.

Oh, and almost neglected to mention shoes. I love open toed sandals, and boots of any kind. I LOVE boots!

Back then I wore the paisleys, bell bottoms, Beatle boots, shirts with white collars and cuffs...It was as close to dressing feminine as I could get at the time...

Now I'm living it again! Only, the way that i wanted to live it then!

Gypsy skirts, blousy blouses..tops with a scarf, long peasant skirts and tops...

I guess that I dress somewhat retro...I love the old Stevie Nicks style....

Ok....so I'm too old for that.....sue me!

Well back in the sixties and seventies I dressed more feminine than Donna Jean - lots of silk shirts, Patterned bell bottoms - almost no solid colors - different color belts and shoes for each outfit including the Yellow pants suit (no other name for it) with the Chocolate brown cuffs and on the top and the cuffed bell bottoms.

So am I back in those days - not really my style is more Thelma Harper these days!

Really more Bea Arthur from the Golden Girls days if I could afford it - such gorgeous sweeping long tunics and scarfs!

Fun reading the variety of styles here!! Being middle aged and having a Rubens figure myself like some of you I avoid trying to dress like a model-thin young thing. I do love the long flowing dresses and tops that are low cut and I adore wearing jewelry. Empire waists are perfect for us full figured women. I recently bought a silk n lace fuschia colored long negligee. It is very low cut and has spagetti straps. I just adore it and love the sensual feel of silk on my skin and how it accentuates my female curves The color makes my skin tone glow too.

I never though of what type style I am.

I do know I am not into vibrant colors, I would like to but I don't think they look good on me.

I like mid rise jeans, simple tops, and tennies or sandals.

I try to stay age appropriate, but have been known to wear some Jr fashions.

I love to make/modify my own clothes with a bohemian/punk type style. My fav outfit right now is my tye-dye v neck with a pair of LEIs that i added patches to and flaired out the legs.with my feather earrings that i made and a studded belt. That's my everyday type outfit.

I'm a board shorts girl and like a natural look with my make-up. A scoop neck top, skinny jeans or Capris, a pair of tennies or chunky heel boot and some hoops and I'm in heaven!

My style is jeans, scarf with a t-shirt and a long singlet under it. It is now changing (because of winter) to that with a wool jumper. I might be stuck with this style until the end of the year because I want to save up money as much as possible for my future plans.

I'm definitely still learning my style, A few months ago I had some idea of what I liked on other girls, but no idea what might suit me, but i'm starting to learn things that I like and things that work. I'm definitely a jeans and top type of girl, But i'm looking forward to wearing skirts come the summer. and If an occasion called for it I'd jump at the chance to wear a nice dress, I don't own any tho. I like geeky stuff, (I just bought a batman ladies tee) or retro, or things that are quirky or funny. I'm always on the look out for cool t shirts. I like things that are reasonably subtle but stylised, like say jeans with an outline of a heart embroided on the leg. For jewelry I like anything that's understated and elegant. silver or white gold, simple designs, small clear stones.

I also really love the cybergoth stuff, but i haven't ever really had the friends or the confidence to go to night clubs, hopefully that'll change.

I'm the same, different things to suit different moods, & love strong colours.

Never wear long (calf or ankle length) skirts or dresses, as I'm quite short & it just doesn't look or feel right.

My style pretty much mirrors my friends'. Very casual, yet still nice. Jeans and a t-shirt or blouse. About 60-70% of the time I wear flip-flops or sandals. Otherwise I'll wear flats or sneakers. Maybe I'll wear a nice necklace or scarf if I'm wearing a shirt with an exposed neck. Also, I'm 18. So, think teenage styles of t-shirts, jeans, blouses, etc. My makeup consists of nail polish, mascara, foundation, concealer, and lip-gloss, and except for the nail polish and mascara, it's very subtle.
