 I accidently run across stuff sometimes that messes my mind up lol.

Initially I thought I was " misreading"/this was not an actual technique in use, but alas I was wrong.

Just when you thought you knew every approach to the phalloplasty out there........

added note: the location of this clinic is in the country of Georgia; that is just south of Russia, north of Turkey, Armenia, and Azerbaijan.

OMG!

I couldn't believe it either!

I had to go see - I am shocked and considering what we MTFs are planning on doing that takes a bit of doing - but this does it!

I am with you Evan - how far are we willing to go to achieve our goals?

At least for MTFs the necessary tissue and nerves are supplied by the very parts we do not want - but I tend to want my fingers and their nerves on my hands!

I hope that someone is working on a better technique that does not involve this!

I do feel sorry for you guys - the surgeries have so far to go but there is always hope so be positive and be proud - you are all very special people.

Love ya,

Sally

I would totally give up a finger to get a realistic penis but those ones look a bit... I dunno. But I have no qualms about losing a finger. I could trap one in a door tomorrow, after all!

So I would end up with eleven fingers?...

NEVERMIND!

No darlin, if you went to the end of that page, you would have nine fingers and a whatsit.

And the thing is, it is a valid question. ALL peeps who transition sacrifice stuff. Surgically though, FtMs have since the inception of the radial forearm phalloplasty been asked "what would you be willing to give up" physically to get what you need. For those of you who've never seen someone in person who's had the forearm it actually almost makes you wonder if the finger is the lessor price -at least visually

BUT... MTF are... well... inverted. We have an advantage with surgery, but FTM's do so well on "T" and we do just marginal on "E." Actually some of the earlier vagiplasticy used a part of the large intestine. Its all still very primative, both sides. I suspect stem cell research will lead to techniques that will revolutionize SRS, both kinds - maybe some of our younger members will be around.

Take your own cells, jiggle a few chromosomes - grow out the parts - transplant your true opposite sexual organs. Won't that be nice? Anyone ever read John Varley?

I REALLY hope they can do this soon! My life is depending on it!

Who's John Varley? :goes to wikipedia: the sci-fi author? did he write something about organ transplants?

As for the pictures... wow. No thanks. I don't want to say I wouldn't give up a finger for it, b/c I probably would, IF I could trade a finger for a complete male system. Not for that type of procedure though. I'd rather keep my finger.

However, if in the future they can transplant a full set of sex organs, I would say I'd give my left nut to have the rest of it. :P

No way would I ever.

I'm a cellist, first and foremost, and male second. I would never ever EVER give up my music just for a penis.

My mouth fell open and I still can't quite close it....

Wow!

Yeah, just when you think you know all the procedure methods....

I would be open to this. What Miles said made me think....I would be upset to not be able to play anymore, but other than that I don't really have an attachment to my fingers.

A transperson science fiction writer.

("Options" and "Blue Champagne")

Also his trilogies usually have tranpeople in them.

I was refering to "OPTIONS" where it is possible to change your sex without a problem, from an undisclosed process that seems akin to stem cell research. A wife decides to become a man - her husband is appalled, but he refuses to become a woman, so she diappointed, changes back. Also, there are characters that spend part of their life as male, part as female. Look for him in Amazon, might be out of print. His new books, Mammoth and the juvinile oriented Red Thunder have no trans people.

I have an extensive collection of scifi and know most of the ones with TS elements. These writers seen to be gender dysphoric and wrote out their fantasies in literature, and the most well known is Robert Heinlein - who wrote a complete sexual reassignment themed book - I Will Fear No Evil. Jack L. Chaulker's books, almost every one of his books, was trans oriented - and also had bizarre transformations - the Well World series especially. He wrote two totally trans themed books. Another is Piers Anthony - but these are little pieces in some of his XANTH series. He may just be exploring new possibilites - but it's interesting how they read.

Many more exist!

This reminds me of The Sims haha. I have a friend (female) who plays the sims so much she should make a career out of it. Once we were talking about it and I asked her to make a male version of me on the sims. I think she made a male version, as well as a female version which she then converted to male. In the sims games apparently you can just change the sex of the character by clicking on the male or female symbol while you're creating the character. I said to her "If only it were that simple in real life..." :shrugs:

I wouldn't do it. I wouldn't be able to rise to the occasion on my own. That's what really makes and breaks it for me.

Saw a movie recently called "The Box"

A couple were given a box with a button on it...if they push the button, someone in the world dies..someone that you don't know and if you push it you get $1M......

That's what this reminds me of....

Here, you push the button you get the penis....the finger dies....

Weird.....

But, I guess that we all sacrifice one thing for another in our transitions....

Just the nature of the beast....

So you couldn't be a natal male and ever be impotent? (playing the devils advocate) You would tell them to cut it off and send it back if viagra had to be in your future? Skip the reattachment if Larenna Bobbit were your exwife? Think about it.

This is definitely something that I am NOT willing to do. I'd rather wait out on stem cell research as well as the study on gene therapy.

Me too! Let's hope they make some progress with that.

it might be cool for those born with extra fingers who are wanting surgery...something for their extra finger to be used for?

The hand actually doesn't look as freaky as I thought it would....But the rest of the operation....Nope. Not for me.

I think I would be willing to give up a finger, but not for this - not to be used in this way. This is just weird.

Gosh, missed Monday again.   Did you know that Producer Keith Oslen was distraught because the duo his recorded Buckingham-Nicks first album went nowhere? In walked Mick Fleetwood also distraught because once again Flleetwood Mac lost a guitarist in Bob Welsh and he was at least going studio shopping and came to Sound City in LA because he'd heard the drum sound they got there was incredible. He asked Oslen to play something recorded there. Olsen played some of Buckingham-Nicks and Fleetwood loved the sound of the guitarist and wanted Buckingham. Olsen said he comes with Nicks because Olsen managed both. Fleetwood didn't want Nicks but eventually the remaining Mac members said okay and next thing you know - the Fleetwood Mac that scored a huge following was born. Sadly right after the "Fleetwood Mac" album and before "rumours" was recorded, the band got huge headed and got rid of Oslen so they didn't have to play him a lot of music they wanted to keep. Olsen did ok after by recording Ozzy Osbourne, the Grateful Dead, Whitesnake, Pat Benatar, Heart, Santana, Saga, Foreigner, Scorpions, Journey, The Babys, Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Joe Walsh, 38 Special, and Eric Burdon & the Animals, among others. BTW - Olsen was also a members in 1967 of a band called Music Machine (not the James Taylor one) that scored a huge hit with the song "Talk Talk"

Still on contentment high from Sunday.
    • Heather Shay
CONTENTMENT The relentless pursuit of happiness often overshadows the more subtle yet profound emotional state of contentment. While happiness may be a fleeting high, contentment is the gentle hum of satisfaction that resonates through the soul, offering a sustainable path to life satisfaction. Oscar Wilde's poignant observation encapsulates this truth: "True contentment is not having everything, but in being satisfied with everything you have."

I've been looking forward to the legitimate medical groups coming out strongly against Cass' biased and one sided report, so I'm really glad to see the article you posted, @Davie.  Unfortunately, it won't get nearly the coverage that Cass has gotten.  She has done her dirty work.  Hopefully the pushback and investigative reports on her and her support network will result in her work being shown for what it is.  She is a fraud, and sooner or later all frauds are found out.   Carolyn Marie

CONGRATULATIONS, Jessica!!  That's really BIG! I myself did not experience a huge emotional roller coaster.  It was more like a smooth slide into emotional comfort.  The biggest effect I felt is when my Dr put me on T-blockers first.  I felt a bit 'empty' for a couple of months, but then realized it was just because the 'T-monster' was no longer running around inside of me.  Then I felt it was my new 'normal'. I feel like the estradiol was the 'frosting' on my transition affirmation.  It's been only positives.  I do cry a lot more, but it's only because I finally feel free to allow my emotions to come out.  To me it's not 'hormonal' ... it's FREEDOM!   Everybody is different but it sounds like you are under great care.  I hope you have a beautiful first year in transition on HRT (keep us updated if you can).
