This was in the Washington Post today. To me, it sounds like ENDA will either die or the TG provisions will be taken out.

It made me really mad reading some of the hysterical rantings of the Coalition, but I guess everyone is

scared of them, so we'll end up with nothing. I hope I'm wrong.

The "Traditional Values Coalition." What a name. I guess hate, discrimination and fear have become the new "tradition."

The group warns that, under ENDA, "your children will be trapped in classes taught by drag queens and transgender activists" and they will be "forced to learn about bizarre sexual fetishes."

Oh, for crying out loud!

I have to go and get rid of my lunch now...URP*

What a shame, I would like to say that we have educated idiots voting on this but from what I'm reading they're not even educated. So that only leaves plain old idiots voting minius the few that are trying to pass the bill.

This is the kind of position that makes me upset. These people have such an irrational uneducated view of transgender people. How dare anybody love outside the norm. And so the family coilition wants to force others to live in their pre-conceived notion of how one should live. Or else you get kicked out into the street.

Social conservatism. Ugh!

Actually, no. Hate discrimination and fear have always been tradition in the United States. But it's not culturally acceptable to attack blacks anymore. And even though latinos and gays still get a lot of flak form people, the bigots know that they are starting to lose ground on the fight against the gay and latino communities as fewer mainstream Americans stop believing the lies, and they'll have to move on to another group to spread hatred and lies about. Nothing really "new" about it. We just happen to be next in line.

The problem is (and I feel you) if you don't get in, thats one less voice demanding for your own needs.

Somehow -I can't get into this.

(1) I don't have the talent - I am politically challanged!

(2) I have trouble with what my personal district representative and my two senators do anyway - I get the feeling all three are bone-head political and cannot think original thoughts! (why would I feel that way - duh! David Vitter INVENTED 'family values' as a weapon, here in Louisiana - unless you are binary, you are sooooo perverted!) I vote EVERY election so they know I am a valuable person to woo - yet my emails and letters get standard cookie-cutter responses. My writing to him is like telling a mad rattlesnake not to bite me... [sisssss>>>> STRIKE!!!]

(3) and I am jaded... oh my

I voted Obama - and he should have carried this state - huge population who wanted a qualified African American in the White House - and we anti-Bush type that wanted ANYONE else - Obama didn't get our Louisiana electorial votes. I was so disgusted!

So I limit my political activisim to keeping you younger gender dysphoricc people FROM KILLING YOURSEVES! Go out and change the world.

Hey - I will be watching from the fluffy clouds above, harp in hand, and one of Dee Jays famous popsicles in my mouth - with sugar in them (no diabetics in heaven!)

BUT - Change is coming! I guess my generation (hippies) did some of that - women's rights, civil rights, gay rights... I guess we just played out when it came to transsexuality and gender variance... I worried about everyone else, forgot about myself!

I sent my letters. I fear it will fall on deaf ears though. I also fear something drastic will have to happen before they recognize us.

I will make an exceptionfor trans rights for the sake of my family and those like us but lately there has been so much HATE and it hurts to hear most of it. Especially when I feel like Nick is being targeted. It's depressing. I understand what your saying though. I wish I could show them (people who are afraid and hate the queer community) what an angel he is. It's not fair and god do they realise how truely mean and hateful they are? Ok I'm gonna go find my hubby and give him a hug so I don't cry. For anyone reading this that has the courage to fight bigotry and ignorance, I'm proud of you and thank you.

My wife and I have absolutely No Use for the TVC and their bunch of followers. They are so hate filled it is pathetic. They manage to make a good Christian person look like evil; bcause in their hearts they are the evil ones.

To be a Christian, you can't pick and choose who you're supposed to love. And the word "hate" is not supposed to be in your vocabulary. But, the TVC is full of folks who are no more Christian that the big oak tree standing out in my yard. They are fear-mongering bigots with an agenda of hatred for anyone who doesn't fit into their little square of the world. A lot of them have the "spirit of religiosulty [sp]" an extremem mental illnes that can and does drive people cray and into mental institutions. Once, when I was working in a mental institution, I encountered two folks like that and they were scarey to say the least. Their every waking moment was discussed in a Biblical manner. Oh, did I forget to mention that this place was a hospital for the criminally insane. They had murdered their husbands. I also met serial killers and many others who were off their trollys; including one who proclaimed to be Hitler.

Lizzy,

I know what your saying about letters falling on deaf ears. My Senators are McCain and Kyl...like they will do anything to help. And my congressman? Trent Franks is THE most conservative idiot in the house. I stopped writing him long ago when I found out he was an alien lizardman who eats babies.

We can only hope all those people in districts that actually have a voice will pull their politicians the right way (our way!).

Well my plan if the transgendered people are removed from ENDA is to convince every trans person in the United States to go to the Social Security Office and apply for disability since the government is telling us that we are to mentally sick to work then we should qualify for disability benefits. If we were to play this up before the vote I wonder how many would vote in favor of passage, Can you imagine adding 60,000 plus people to the disability roles because the government determined us to be to sick to be entitled the right to work. Start calling your reps and tell them this is going to happen. We could cost the government billions of dollars just working on all of those disability claims. What would it cost them if they had to pay us disability.

Hi!

Just sent letters to Senators Udall and Bennet. Also one to Rep. Salazar . I got a conformation from ENDA saying I was the 15th submission from Colorado.

So I guess it is time to cross our fingers and hope!

Huggs!

So all in all, +2 internets for the awesome idea. :D

Now that is an interesting idea. Government wants to hurt us transsexuals both way. That would be an interesting court case.

I just knew when Obamacare was railroaded though the congress and the senate, without allowing any input from the GOP, that as a result it would create gridlock for any socially liberal bills that followed it.

If the ENDA fails, I lay the fault on those current political leaders in D.C. from BOTH parties.

I don't want to inflame any political senses (so please don't take this as any type of assertion), but I have read and listened to many of Noam Chomsky's words. Personally, I think that Noam Chomsky is one of the most profound thinkers of our time. You may agree or not agree, but the fact remains... we as transgendered cannot be ignored indefintely.

I have a couple of links that I hope will be encouraging....

No one that hasn’t gone through the self perceived shame and guilt about the feelings we’ve had cannot understand 1. Why we need a therapist we trust. 2.  Why we suddenly need to talk to them. 3. Why things set us off and throw us into a bout of extreme depression.  4. Why we feel threatened even when we aren’t in immediate danger.  That threat may be only in our mind but it’s our need for reassurance.

Be careful about software bundled with your antivirus! Most likely they are using it to spy on you. As far as I know the only 2 VPN providers that actually protect your data (and delete it as soon as possible if they keep anything at all) are Proton VPN and Mulvad VPN - the latter one actually had their servers stormed by law enforcement and they walked away with nothing (cause Mulvad had no customer data to offer). I would avoid antiviruses altogether tbh, they're not a magic cure for internet safety and the built in one from Microsoft does its job well enough. If you're not on WIndows you don't even need one - just be smart about what you download of course.   Your web browser asking you to turn it off is probably because the browser would prefer to know your real location, just ignore it or pick a better browser, like Firefox.

It was stupid of me, the cop was in front of me in a u-turn cut in a spot I know about. I was running a little late because of the slow truck, and the cop happened to be there today. It is like one of only three places for a speed trap on my commute. I usually don’t speed as I try to leave enough of a time buffer in the morning.

The worst possible scenario is 4 points on my license, which a defensive driving course will negate it. I had considered getting a lawyer, but it is probably not worth the expense.

Welcome to Transgender Pulse Forums Mealaini,   Like you I knew in my preteen years that I was meant to be a girl, but didn't have any way to bring it up in the early 1960s. It was the expanding news outlets on the telly that allowed me to understand that I may not be the only person who felt this way. Wow was my mind expanded once the internet became a reasonable research tool in the 1990s.   My grown daughter (42) is nonbinary and atheist with pagan leanings. So when I came out to her she was thrilled and wanted to dress me up and show me the world. Well I think she wanted to show me to the world. My son (45) is evangelical christian and very upset with his sister for many reasons. However he's a reluctant supporter of me as transgender. I'm out to my wife and we've been married for 48 years this June, so I'm in a very late in life transition.   The other thing that has me going down an internet rabbit hole is your location. It clearly states United Kingdom with a sub flag of Illinois. I've searched the web and can't seem to locate Illinois, UK. Am I missing something?    Best wishes,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Thank you for sharing, @Mealaini, and welcome.    I appreciate your description of IFS and your book recommendation. I have a few close friends who are very enthusiastic about IFS and my therapist is incorporating some of those elements into my therapy.    -Timi

Leg hair.  Shaving it was a surprisingly big decision.  (Not as big as the beard tho)  After I did it a few times, it's never really grown back.  Haven't shaved them in a couple of years and you'd never know it.  A daughter living with me doesn't shave hers, and she is much furrier than I ever was.     I don't exactly hate my living as a guy in the past.  TBH, I was never quite there anyway.  But I just dropped it.  I live full time fem, and it would bother me a lot to go back to being a guy.  But I don't have to appease family or an employer.

@Loreleiit always sucks getting a ticket for passing a slower vehicle. I'm guessing the police officer was some distance behind you until you performed your passing maneuver. My most costly ticket was from a similar situation, however we were heading out of town and the last straight stretch of road to pass the two slower vehicles ahead of me was still in a 35mph zone. I didn't see the officer behind me and as soon as I pulled out to pass he turned on his lights and siren. Since I was in the process of passing, I figured the next safe place to pull over was at the upcoming roadside park. He didn't accept that and wrote me up for passing two gaps, speed in excess of 15mph over, and failure to stop. He did not care to hear about any fellowship in public safety, and no professional curiosities would be honored.  I did go to court plead my case and the judge, and he did see my point of continuing to pass with the intentions of pulling over safely at the roadside park. He was very familiar with the location. This allowed him to drop the failure to stop charges, but I did have to pay the full 15mph over speeding ticket. So my lesson learned was to never pass when entering or leaving a small town or village.   Hugs, and good luck in court.   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋
