I was looking over the gender therapists list again, and took a closer look at http://www.gendertherapist.com/

It seems like a good enough idea, it's a lot cheeper (easier to convince mom) and I'm a lot better at talking over text than phone or in person. So, I was just wondering if anyone's tried it before or if they had any advice or what.

I've been kinda curious about this too.

I really don't think that an online therapist is going to replace a real life therapist, but for those of us who live far away from specialists of this nature, it might have some use? I'd really love to hear if anyone has any experience with this site.

I don't have any gender therapist in my area. So I am forced to go to an online therapist. I contacted one today, to ask more questions, at "[email protected]", but have not heard back from them as yet. There fee was $35.00 per session or 4 sessions for $100.00. I let the forum know what I find out if any are interested in this route.

I would be veeeery interested in this. I find face to face therapy very stressful when talking about more personal topics -- this would be a epic alternative.

I spoke with one of the online therapists today and although he is abroad he is registered with the American therapy associations and works with many in the USA. His fee is paid through Western Union and said that after 12 sessions he would provide a letter for HRT therapy. His sessions are about 50-55 minutes once a week; and if paid monthly the charge would be a total of $300.00 for the 12 weeks. I know that there is a need for two letters to achieve the HRt and any changes to legal documents such as social security, drivers license, etc. I don't know if he is allowed to do both or if another one is required to achieve the latter letter needs.

Sounds like a start anyway.

Actually you only need one letter for the HRT and the RLT you need a second letter from a PHD for the SRS!

Was that enough initials, that is from the SOC! :D

Love ya,

You only need the letter for HRT, and 2 for SRS at most surgeons.

No letter is required for RLT, only the will and confidence (or a good mental kick in the butt like I did to myself).

Thanks for putting this out here :)

I've been scouring my whole area for therapists, and none of them have a gender background... I'd have to take a 5 hour drive to find an actual gender therapist  . If they don't work out, this'd be a helpful alternative! :D

I just posted a thread asking the same question in FTM forum...

I am inclined to use this therapist. However, I wonder if his letters would be accepted in the US and would there

be any problems since this overseas and online therapy?

Please share any info you have!

I started using the online therapist Dr. Graham Peveller at [email protected] several months ago because I could not find a gender therapist close to where I live. He listened to my weekly online chat asking questions along the way. Now he has told me that he is satisfied that I am ready for the SRS surgery that I have been wanting for so long and has agreed to issue the letters required for the surgery. I plan on going to Thailand as it is cheaper and they ahve done thousands with great sucess. I would recommend him for any who are in need of a gender therapist. One one thing that he would like is for payment by western union because he can receive the funds faster to his bank. A whole months sessiosn with him are cheaper than one session anywhere else.

By no means do I want to throw cold water on the idea of online therapy, but I'm a suspicious person by

nature. I'm just wondering, how do you verify the credentials of the therapist you're "seeing?" And vice

versa, how can he/she verify who you are, or the veracity of what you say, without looking you in the eye?

The concept just seems strange to me. I would be very careful. The idea that someone would approve

major surgery without ever having "seen" the patient is just plain odd.

Maybe I'm just too old fashioned.

Time to get back to my knitting, don't ya know. B)

Quick question, if your therapist you are seeing has their PHd do you need to worry about getting a second letter still?

yes you do need to worry, the SOC is clear that you need two letters from two independent practitioners

Good morning.    I did not try to see the sky last night.  We watched tv and went to bed.  Cooler but dry this weekend it was 58 when I got up this morning.  Sorry Kymmie, no chance of white rain here. Although there is always a chance of hail.  Fortunately, the storms stayed west of us and dropped their golf all size hail elsewhere.  I do feel bad for the people that got the hail as that was in a poorer part of the state.   Even the county we live in is quite large and has socioeconomic issues that range from wealth to below poverty.  Very few good middle class jobs and a number of them are closing their doors every year.  Most workers are some way connected to hospitality and travel.  We are beginning to see some internet based jobs as the latest under sea internet cables to South America and other places are coming ashore here.  But they are not connected yet.  We have a rail line but it stops at the innercoastal waterway. The bridge was damage in a hurricane and there just wasn’t enough traffic to justify Corman spending the money to fix it.  So it is permanently in the raised position.     @awkward-yet-sweet I’m glad you got to spend some downtime away from the every day at home.  I can’t imagine how a household that large operates.  And I do think you deserve an upgraded commercial kitchen.  But,  you wouldn’t all be able to live together if you spent money buying new to you things instead of fixing the old with so much talent at home.   Well, I hope to spend time creating the outline of my paper today.  I’m sure I will have to refine it a couple of times before it is completed.   enjoy your weekend    willow

Same here.  My mind is a jumbled mess.  I'm no great philosopher, nor particularly educated.  Don't open my brain's closet, as all the junk might come tumbling out.

Its been a long day.  I had a good trip with my husband, kind of sorry I had to come home.  I mean, I love my partners, but I feel overwhelmed by the chaos at times.  It was nice being able to just drive and talk for two days, and not feel rushed at meals.  Stopped at a buffet off I-40 in Oklahoma, and I was able to nibble comfortably for two hours!  And taking a shower in a place where I don't have to bother hanging up the towels for later   Its all about the little things....
