Really Good Day Today

I came out to my landlord and next door neighbor today and both of them were happy and supportive of me being trans. My landlord is a female in her early 30's and not only is she supportive, but gave me a hug right away and was happy for me. Not only that but she just happens to know all about make-up and cosmetics. She learned it from her mother and actually does make-up for quite a few people. To top it off I tried to use my female voice on her and she was surprised how good it was. She said that if it wasn't good she would have told me. I thought I sounded like Julia Childs through my own ears, but when I listened to the tape recoder, it's passable, although I feel it can get better. She also told me I've always used my hands a lot when I talked and that my inflections where really good and that I sounded natural. She has now become a lot closer friend.

I don't know how good my female voice really is. Yet I have been a naturally good speaker when reading from a book. I know this is going to become a lot tougher, still things are falling right into place so far. It's almost as if someone is watching over me and helping me along right now.

It turned out not to be so good afterall. My insurance company is not going to pay for my gender therapist and therefore it has to come out of my own pocket.

I am glad to hear about your positive coming out experience. Most therapists will work out a payment plan that you can afford, so don't worry hon.

Talk to the person who handles the billing, they will work with you

Seriously good about your acceptance. We'll take that whenever we can get that, right?

And, serious bummer about the insurance no covering the therapist...maybe you still have options there...

I paid all of my therapist out of pocket ....

And, I lost my health insurance yesterday....two 100% increases in 6 months...I could no longer afford it!

Glad your landlady can help you.....

Sorry about the insurance change. Its possible that your GT might give you a better rate, or adjust how often you see her. You are making wonderful progress in your transition, and it is fun to hear about all of those others who have accepted you for who you are.

Just called my GT's office. And since mt therapist is a social worker where gender clients are just one type of client she works with, she is going to change the paperwork since she has already diagnosed me with social anxiety disorder. I never thought I'd be happy with a disorder like that. So basically this could work out afterall.

Susan - maybe someone or something IS looking out for you!

My apartment managers rented an apartment to a male - i now talk to then as I really am! They don't have a problem with it. I think landlords and managers just wat dependable rent paying people - no matter if they apparently chang gender half-way through. Keep that rent check current, girl! Grin

Yes - GID is a disability in my state. I technically am not responsible for my debts - but I do not want to go that route as it would destroy my credit rating.
