Saying Goodbye!

Saying Goodbye!

Goodbye is one of the hardest words to say

It means that someone close is going away

I have said goodbye over the years to so many people and places

That sometimes I can not even seem to remember all of the faces

But into each chapter of our lives comes an ending

No way to hide it so I will just stop my pretending

I am leaving my hometown where I have lived all of my life

Now saying goodbye to my family and have said it to my wife

I have nothing in my pockets no money or even my dreams

My life in a rut for so long that is all that it seems

Now I have come to this path out of necessity or is it fate

That is taking me on this new course and now to a new state

But along with all of the horrors from my past

I am working hard to free myself of him at last

Who is this villain from whom I must cleanse myself

It is the man that I was who kept me on that shelf

I have like so many hated that man

Keeping me down had seemed his plan

Now as I stand on the threshold of my life as me

I look at that man and for the first time I see

Not the jailer, guard or warden was he

Instead a guardian and protector to me

For all of those years when it was not safe

He hid me sheltered me and lied on my behalf

He worked and he tried and he endured so much pain

The way that I have treated him is really a shame

We want to break all ties with the past

Just to become the women we are at last

I have developed a fondness a love and respect

For the man who gave his all for me to protect

And now as I stand on that verge of being finally free

He is making the ultimate sacrifice for me to become me

How many of us think about it in this way

Such a high price for him to have to pay

To me it is finally a new beginning the start of my life

For him it is the end but at least the end of his strife

People talk of leaving his memory behind so I can finally become whole

But I can never forget this wonderful man who shared my tortured soul

Love ya,

Sally

You might grieve a bit. But in truth, I believe he will always be a part of you.

I wish you all the best in your new life.

Dearest Sally,

You are so gifted as a poet. I know this up coming change in your life is both excilirating and terrifying at the same time. Who you were has now passed. The facade has faded away. As "he" slipped away, so did his life as you knew it.

Sally's life is now beginning :)

All my love

Brenda

Sally, the man you speak of has been with you, but was not you, for well over 50 years. While he will always be present somewhere backstage, his time has come and gone, and now its time for Sally to stand in the spotlight. Her name will be on the marquee forevermore. A star is born!

Love

Sally,

You have such a gift and are able to put so much wisdom in to your poetry. I love it and whole heartedly agree with your statement about the value of our dying half

Huggs,

Emily,

Happy Father's Day to all

That is a wonderful poem Sally. It is the funeral of the man where you pay your last respect, reflecting on his life. He can now be buried, with only fading memories remaining and yet never forgotten.

Now your new life can blossom as a women coming out her adolescent years. The world is yours dear.

Love Jenny

Sally don't ever do that to me again. I thought you were trying to leave us too. I couldn't imagine you not here with us. Now that being said, I loved your poem.

Sup singly, a superintendent prevented a student within the transgender community from changing current name, to the new name in which the student identifies with, I don't know how far back this story goes, but if you Google it under Oklahoma along with "student name change" the article should pop up. I'm not transgender, but I can relate to the process of legally getting a name change done, it's a lot of paperwork from court, a lot of traveling, and expenses depending on the laws from each state.

No one seemed to pay attention to me other than a young woman who complimented me on my skirt and an older gentleman who smiled at me as we passed each other.

Wow, I guess it’s the dat to be in trouble.  I’ve been hit twice by the ASM today and it’s my day off.  Why didn’t you, followed latter with a where is the.  Made me realize that I do t want to continue working long enough to pay for it. I guess I’ll just to have to stick with my 20 year old car for now.   I suppose sooner or later only one of us won’t be able to drive anymore.  Since I am older you might think it would be me but at this time i am the one that does all the driving except when she goes to church or the store when I’m at work.  She hasn’t driven anywhere since February and hasn’t driven more than 10 miles in perhaps a year.  Yet the “good” car was purchased for her not for me because she couldn’t drive the Jeep which we bought strictly for her because she wanted it.  But it turned out I was the one that really liked it.  Can’t win.

Had one like that one time that would bite you on occasion.  Got rid of that thing quickly.

Good morning :)   I have coffee today, but the cup keeps leaking (I guess the cap isn't able to fully seal or something), so I keep having to wipe up the sides lol   Almost finished all my missing work for school, which means if I do a bit more work, I should be out of trouble with my parents (not even that bad of trouble compared to when I was younger, more just an annoyance haha)

Sending good thoughts for you, Raine.

Good morning 😘   Finished packing up my kitchen and pantry for fumigation today. I also modified my backpack to make it day-centre compliant.  I was able to get almost 2 hrs sleep last night, so I'll survive. 😑

I'll be going to some Pride events as a spectator.  Maybe marching in a parade if they have open participation.    The event we'd prefer to go to is held in a small town with a population of less than 600.  They have a parade through all three blocks of their downtown area.  Unfortunately, this year it is on the same day as a memorial service for a friend who passed away this winter, so we'll have to miss it.  So our second choice is a larger town, population about 9000, a bit farther away.    And we are keeping our eyes open for other events in the general area as they are announced.   I dress a bit flashier than normal, with some trans bling, such as rainbow or trans flag earrings, a trans symbol pendant, and a handheld trans flag to wave.  Political sentiment is turning against us, but public sentiment here is still strongly on our side, so getting out and showing the flag, both literally and figuratively, is important.
