Well, 'ole Dee Jay is still at it....

Yesterday I did my electrolysis again...

I've been going pretty consistently every week for months, but one more week and then I'll have to take a hiatus...I need to save up some more money...I think that I'm putting her kid through collage..

My sessions go 3 hours at a time for $110....we get a lot done..

As of next week my entire face will be pretty much done down to the neck line...

Next, we start under the chin....OMG...

Is it worth the cost and pain?

Dang straight!

Is it worth it, every little painful moment is worth it to become what we should always have been. I am doing both to become what I need to be. I would like to see others go through the amount of stress and pain we go through to be happy as ourselves.

Dee Jay,

You're going to make all those cisgender women in our age bracket so jealous!!

So many can't -or are too afraid to get electrolysis-and live with a pair of tweezers within arms reach at all times for those nastly little surprises that sprout like mushrooms overnight,

Plus the HRT gives you that youthful appearance. And you look so good in clothers!! Oophs -sorry-I meant clothes look so good on you. !!( Although apparently those Amish boys-or a fellow mod apparently....never mind)

I won't say it's unfair-because you earned every moment of that beauty- so enjoy every second of going all but a blessed few natal women one better!

Love

Its the price we pay for not having had cramps. (Did I just say that ????!!!!)

Hugs,

Opal

You know, as a married woman, I get sympathy cramps when my wife has her time every month. No fair...

But YAY Dee Jay! Soon the razor (for the face at least) will be a faded memory of a ritual done by some guy you knew once.

Yeah....a thing of the past....

I kinda wish that I had kept photos of my face morphing over the last 16 months...that would be cool to see....

Now when I shave I still put the lather everywhere I used to on my face...

It's just that now, the razor just glides over the clear parts and slows down on the remaining hairs...

Hopefully before long, there will be no need at all...just a smooth face!

How many sessions did you have so far Donna? I am going on my 3rd here coming up next week and only go for an hour, until I can get some type of topical cream like EMLA to help with the pain. So far I have been doing my chin area and also my upper lip ~Ouchie!~ but yes it is VERY MUCH worth all the pain and expense. I pay $65 an hour so it is not too bad compared to some.

I had a year of laser and over 60 hrs of electrolysis @ $80.00 an hour, my face is almost totally clear and some of my neck but i expect another year before it is finished to where i may need a touch up once in awhile.... oh before i forget so far i have spent around 9k, by the time i am done facial hair removal will cost almost as much as i am paying for my srs.

Is it worth it ............ yup!

This makes me wonder if there might actually be a market for a 'traveling TG electrologist'. Perhaps set up an RV with the needed equipment and such. Probably the biggest problem would be a separate licensing requirement for each state. Oh well, it was a thought.

Electrolysis.......

Time for another hiatus...

I've been going every Saturday morning for about 8 weeks this time...

And for 3 hours at a shot so that was 24 hours of electrolysis...

I've now done a total of 65 hours!

DANG!

That's so disappointing Donna Jean and I understand your frustration. I've had 17 full beard laser sessions, 32 hours of electrolysis on my neck alone and haven't even started on face. But I've read the average is 200 hours to clear the full face. Sigh. Sometimes it's tough to keep your eye on the prize...

OMG 3 hour sessions? I have an hour and I think that is a lot, of course I am doing the upper lip area right now so that is really the worst. I am going to two hour sessions here soon though to have better results, I pay about $60 a session.

Virginia that is alot of sessions to go through. I have had 7 laser and 2 electrolysis and I am almost done. I can't imagine going through that much. I guess I didn't have as much of a beard as I thought I did or it worked really well on me.

I agree, Virginia......Chin up, Girlfriend....(pun)

It's my best angle :)

You too, DJ. I just got back from another 2 hour session and my electrologist said she is finally clearing my entire neck. It is such a HUGE area, a much bigger job than the rest of face which is why I had her start there. I'm always surprised to hear all the buzz about the pain of working on the upper lip. I've had some work done there and my eyebrows too. Hands down the most painful areas to treat for me are the apples of my cheek bones, closely followed by my neck. My electrologist and laser tech have both told me the neck is the most painful part of clearing a beard.

And plucking/waxing? My electrologist told me that with the exception of around the eyes, traumatically removed hair that is not completely destroyed triggers androgen receptors that actually stimulates MORE hair to grow in the area. Sort of the body's natural way of covering an "injured" bald spot. She will not even work on a client who simultaneously plucks/waxes as she says it is a waste or her time and her client's money.

Dee Jay and all-I hereby promise not to complain (pregnant dog just wouldn't fit here) and moan about removing the new hairs that being "more life experienced" has gifted me with again. Too many to live with and too few to grow a beard! Grrrr. Oohps-I said I wouldn't complain!!

Ouch! You all deserve massive hugs!

HUGS

I don't know yet. I'm sure there is going to be a big crowd. I also would have to keep up with the kids and probably won't enjoy myself mostly.
    • Ashley0616
I can understand that. My Keurig is used for hot water mostly and when my mom comes. I mostly use a regular coffee maker. I have had that for 5 years now. I had a Bunn but it didn't last long. I also have a French press and rarely use that. I would love to get a cappuccino maker but that is for later on. Starbucks is getting expensive. My kids favorite thing there is the cake pops. I found out that Walmart Neighborhood Market has them. Typical me getting off topic. lol

After many years in denial, I have finally acknowledged my femininity. After quite a long life, so much time has been wasted. Now I feel I am too old to enjoy the freedom I now feel. All I can contribute to those who need to embrace their true gender, be BRAVE and don,t waste time!

Well, welcome M.A. Several of my now grown kids were involved in theater in school.  And one is now a graphic designer.

Wow what a busy day today.  Clearly the summer crowd is coming into town.  Doesn’t hurt that we have a PGA event here.  It is limited to 100 players. But the spectators is where the crowd is.   i alone more than doubled my usual sales.     we keep hearing thunderstorms however they are staying just west of us for now. The storms in western Tennessee right now are supposed to be here in the morning.

Edit: Latest album is called "Drumless". My bad. The name of their tour is Drummer.

My gen z cousin & her gf were visiting the last few days. We are a very, very small contingent of queer members of our family & we stick together. She and her gf introduced me to G Flip. They recently attended a concert and said it was the best concert ever. They were playing G Flip in the car and I was impressed by the vocals, the lyrics, the influences, and the percussion (G is also a drummer). I love a nonbinary vocalist (not that we get to hear so many...yet...) because the freedom from gender performance shines forth. I could hear influences from many styles of music I loved in the 90s, but all blended together in a joyfully percussive way. G Flip is rad! I would post a link to some tracks or an album, but there are explicit lyrics which would go against community rules - you can easily search youtube yourself if you're interested; their latest album is called "Drummer". But here is a picture of G who is serving us gorgeous nonbinary vintage Axl Rose!

Welcome, @MAN8791. I relate to this so much. I'm roughly the same age as you, afab & nonbinary. For decades, I beat myself up for being a "broken" girl/woman. And I tried my darndest for many of those years to perform woman successfully. While outwardly I may have seemed "a success", inwardly the effort and dysphoria caused me so much anxiety, panic, and depression that it eventually became unsustainable. For me, the first step was letting go of identifying as "broken". Next, I allowed myself to be however I am. And very rapidly I felt better - in fact, initially I felt ecstatic. The door was open for me to really learn about self-love and therefore love itself.

Well, the counter space in the kitchenette is pretty Limited. But also cost, and usefulness. I guess she is mostly right, and it isn't really important.

Wasn't sure whether to post this in the "uplifting news" or "news" forum. This bill is pro-LGBTQ+, albeit 30 some odd years too late with 100s of thousands of lives lost throughout the AIDS crisis. The upshot is that ol' Ron has actually done some good for the community. That's really...something...although I doubt he sees it that way. And most importantly, greater access to screening and care will save many lives.   https://ncpa.org/newsroom/qam/2024/05/01/floridas-governor-signs-bill-expand-hiv-care
