"certification Of Sex Reassignment" Form

Hello Sweet Sisters,

My legal name-change hearing is in about 5 weeks. I stand in front of a judge in a court room and, when the gavel comes down, my name will be legally changed to Becky...

In my state, all that's needed to change my gender marker on my driver's license from that dreaded "M" to the desired, preferred and very pretty "F" is a "Certification of Sex Reassignment" form filled out and signed by a Doctor. I dropped the forms off at her office on Monday for her signature. Just a few hours later, they called and said they were all signed and ready to pick up.... Oh my.

Yesterday, I drove over and picked them up. When the receptionist handed them to me, I just stared at them. There it was--her signature, all signed and legal. I have the forms. I sat down briefly in the waiting area of her office and was overwhelmed with emotion. This moment has seemed so far away for so long, it's almost like it isn't really happening now, yet there they are--those forms, all signed and legal.

Later in the day, I took a check from a woman for payment. She had extremely girlie checks and I thought, "wow, I'll be able to write checks like this, too". OMG They will be all signed and legal...by me.

I'm afraid I'll start writing checks for everything now, just so I can show that I.D.

I'm making this seem too easy, but it is, really. :P The trick is to decide exactly what outcome you desire (to finally become the woman I was meant to be all these years), believe with all your heart that it can be done, do not accept that there can be any other outcome, no matter what comes up, then work to make it happen and overcome ALL obstacles. Each day, you must do something toward that goal. You may not take a break, sit down to rest or relax and coast. Doesn't work that way. Each day, you may not go to bed until you have done SOMETHING, anything, to help you get just a little, tiny bit closer to your goal.

Finally, you must ask other people for things when it's appropriate. I would never have these documents, which I truly envisioned to be quite a few months down the road for me, unless I'd simply asked my Doctor if she'd ever consider signing them for me. (I knew she'd say someday, or when the time is right or something like that). She said sure. I was slightly taken aback, so I said, So, how soon would you be comfortable signing them and she replied, tomorrow. She went on to say that she could see how well I was doing, what good judgment I was using and how this seemed to be very right for me. Besides, she said, I know you're not going back.... She nailed that one.

That was just 2 weeks ago. I contacted an attorney that was recommended by sisters in my support group to do my name change. I got the papers back from her a few days ago and now, in just 5 short weeks, another dream comes true for me.

So, when you're in therapy, wondering when they'll finally OK you for hormones, ask. ASK. Ask them if they'll write that letter. Believe me, if you were dying of thirst in the desert and someone came to rescue you, wouldn't you ask for water? Of course! Ask people to do things for you when it's appropriate, even if you think they'll say no.

They just might say yes.

I've got proof, all signed and legal. ;)

This is wonderful and I wanted to share this moment of joy to show it can be done and it's not that hard.

Warm hugs,

Becky

Dear, Girlfriend...

And that's exactly what you do...

You show that "It can be done!"

You know, I've talked with so many girls that say..."I wish my therapist would give me my HRT letter, I've been going to them for 5 months now!"

I'll say, did you ask for it?

Next time ...they ask and it's immediately given..

The therapist was only waiting for them to ask!

So, there you have it, we all need to get out there like you say...the city won't build itself...

Becky, you've got so many wonderful things going on....

Many of us can learn from you!

Thanks...and congratulations!

HUGGS!

Congrats Becky on the Certification of Sex Reassignment letter. I am so happy for you. You have come a long way in such a short amount of time. I just want to say Thank You for sharing each and every step you have taken. You have taught me a lot in that time on how to just be myself and go for it.

Wow Girl! Go!

We look at this journey from way back there, or just a couple of feet back there, however far we have gotten so far, and it is a rocky, winding, rutted road, with all kinds of perils and obstructions that scare us away from moving. the destination is hidden way up high, out of sight in the clouds. Surely we can't make that dangerous climb.

Then, at some point we move forward, a foot or a mile, and realize: This road is not the donkey path it appeared to be, it is just a road. Shortly, as we approach one of the many boulders that appear to be blocking the road ahead, we find it isn't, it just has to be manuvered around. As we do so, we look back down that road and see the valley we have already climbed out of, and the way back is starting to be obstructed by the clouds, and we know that way is strewn with failure. The road ahead is much more clear. The road ahead is no longer mired in the mists of the heights remaining. It is the road to our future. It can not be a round-trip!

It is so good to see your success during your journey.

Becky,

What a big day for you. I know what it means for you to have those forms. My therapist told me on Friday that she would sign whatever i needed to have for surgery and what not. I am still trying to get my head around that idea. congratulations

Huggs,

Emily
