Happy things!! :P

I came out to my best friend friday night.

She was confused and didnt understand at 1st, but after i explained it to her she understood and was happy i told her.

She is lesbian so she understood how i felt about coming out to my family and everything.

Overall she has been really supportive, and our friendship hasnt been affected at all.

not only did it feel great to finally tell someone so close, but it also gives me more hope that more of my friends will still accept me after i come out to them. Me and my friends are all pretty close, and after friday it gives me more faith that they will be supportive.

Brilliant idea Sam! Good thing that happened today is.. my dad said "thats my son" when i showed him i had a discount voucher on my phone for the restaurant we were in (cos its a thing we have going) and i got called mate (which in the UK is basically sir) and... my parents are finally accepting my name change and have told my dads side of my family! - this is good because my mums side already knows but for some time my parents were just telling me to clean shave and still be maria around them..

so yeah, thats a good thing for me!

Cowboy - I expected at least some of my friends to have a problem with it but so far they've all been cool. It's nice to be surprised isn't it! Glad you've got some supporters. :)

Rhys - Breakthroughs! :D I'm hoping my parents will get to this point, the sooner the better!

As for my own happy news my new bank card came yesterday so I was able to finish off the bulk of my name changing! :D

That's awesome :D

Well this happened a few days ago but I didn't think until just now to put it here. I am moving into my summer apartment at my new school tomorrow and I decided to disclose to my apartment mates through email that I am trans (they are single-gender apartments so I had to be put in one for women.) Anyway, so I wrote each of them an email explaining my situation (using the email addresses the housing guy provided me with) and that I am looking to start hormone therapy soon, and they both thanked me for their honesty and told me not to worry, and welcomed me to the apartment :) One of them is an RA so I guess she's more likely to be supportive of things like this, that's kinda part of their training. They both seem really nice (the third person hasn't gotten back to me yet) and I started emailing back and forth with one of them. So we've been talking a bit about the school (we are both new transfer students) and she asked me (very politely, saying she hopes I don't get offended) if I want to be referred to as male or female.

Also, there is a gender therapist near the school who I am meeting on Friday, she is actually going to pick me up and drive me over to the office (she said she doesn't want me to get confused), and she is going to speak to an endo at the school's hospital who specializes in trans adolescents. I am seeing an endo here but I would like a second opinion and I have a feeling if I start going to this endo by the school, I will be able to start T soon. The endo I'm seeing right now is taking things slowly, even though I've pretty much done all I need to do to start T and my GT thinks I'm ready. So T could be on the way.

I don't know if this is just for the guys but my happy time today was taking my oldest daughter to her first baseball game. We only stayed 3 innings because it was so hot and humid but we got to take her onto the field and walk all the way around it.

Glad to hear that at least two of your housemates are being cool! And that hopefully you'll have T soon! Sounds like you're off to a good start at the new school. ^_^

The more happy news the merrier! It's only in the FtM forum because I'm silly and my default is to hang around here. :P

My happy news: I'm off on holiday to the Forest of Dean tomorrow for much walking, caves, a replica iron age farm, steam train, peregrine falcons... :D I've never been there before but it should be awesome!

That sounds cool. I've been going to baseball games since I was 4 lol. But I have never been able to go on the field - not allowed where I am.

Yesterday I went to change my gender marker, the first place we went was a mix dmv/tag agency, we got a lady off to the side who was very nice, but since she wasn't familiar with how to do it she said I needed to go to the "real" dmv, she gave us a pass to skip the line and directions. They at first were unsure if they could do it, as my birth certificate isn't changed yet, but the lady took the time to research it and after about 20 minutes she came back and told me to go to window 6 where another lady would help me. That lady was also very nice and so long story short, my driver's license finally has an M on it :-D

Just need to get my birth certificate, and SS info changed... B)

Invading the FTM forums!

A little MTF fun here!

Was walking down to the shops with my Now goodfriend X girlfriend Rachel, holding hands as we do, we head into the Bakery and one of the people ordering turns to his friend as says 'Dude, check it, Lesbians.'

Other guy: 'sweet;

Seems like I'm passing on Moobies and Attitude!

Teehee!

Congratulations! And three cheers for genuinely nice, helpful people. Especially at the DMV! I hope you throw a party. =D

Not nearly exciting as that, but this little surprise happened yesterday when I left the office to pick up lunch from HEB. I'm not out at work, so I was dressed in casual female stuff (including purse and sandals and, you know, breasts). Did the self-checkout thing, right in front of the late-fifties woman who oversees that area. Finished my transaction, grabbed my sack, and turned to leave. We made eye contact. We smiled. She said, "Have a good day, sir. . . . . ma'am."

I've heard the words often enough before, but not when I was dressed in my girl clothes. If she hadn't looked directly at me, I'd probably be less excited. But I never really thought I passed as male/androgynous in girl clothes before.

I get a sick sense of accomplishment when cleaning my apartment and today I tackled UNDER THE RANGE where there was burnt sugar left over from my roomie's adventures in homemade kahlua and many other unidentified burnt things. When I was finished, I stepped back and admired a job well. Made me feel like Mr Clean.

Tomorrow I leave for camp for two weeks. There's obviously no point in trying to pass, since I'll be in a girls' cabin, but I'll be able to be myself more than I can be, say, at school - all masculine clothes!! Possibly the happiest part is that my mother has finally given up on me being girly and let me buy a couple pairs of board shorts and a swimming shirt-no more revealing bathing suits for me!

That's pretty much it - see everyone in 2 weeks :D

I can relate to this one! At the end of term we had to spring clean our student house, it was gruelling but the satisfaction of seeing it clean was gooooood!

Sounds like you're all set to have a brilliant time. :D Congrats on the board shorts!

I ordered an iPhone for myself that's due to arrive Monday. I was expecting to have to wait until the end of August but I manage to swing it early. :D

I got my first pairs of MEN jeans today! They fit better than my women's jeans... for women's jeans I always have the issue of needing to get "short" size jeans, and I'm an inbetween size, and I think I wear them baggy because the way they shape is not comfortable (like accentuating curves, often hip hugging, low, etc) so generally going shopping for jeans is an unpleasant experience for me.

But the men's jeans were easy. Had to try on a few to figure out my exact size, because I've only had men's cargo shorts until now, but I figured it out and walked out with four pairs of Pacsun skinny jeans. Light blue, light brown, and two are an awesome shade of teal.

Best thing though? The jeans were only $5 each. I also got another fedora for myself (my third one now). The fedora was also $5, though the band is a little messed up. Easily fixed though.

I don't think I'll ever buy another pair of women's jeans again. I was afraid my short stature was going to be an issue... it really wasn't.

I was sir'd for the first time over the weekend.

Well, it was more of a 'hey man' but coming from a teenager, I imagine it's the kid equivalent to 'sir.'

Yeah I think the only people that 'sir' around here are the service industries. :P Congrats!

I never understood why they expect all women with the same waist size to have the same length legs. And yet not the men. Bizarre!

Glad to hear you're finding shopping easier on more than one count now. ;)

My happy news: I went into town yesterday and bought a Nintendo Wii. :D So far I've been playing Super Mario Bros (I'm rubbish at it but slowwwwwly improving) and Zelda (sword-fighting with the Wii controller is hilarious). :D

Well, some places have "tall" and "short" sizes but it's really inconsistent. And it makes me feel short. =( Unlike when I told my dad I got some guys jeans and he says, "I can't believe those guys that have the same waist and length size, like 32-32. [something about his waist being bigger or them being so skinny or such]." "...I'm 29-30 or 30-30." Actually, I might be more a 28 length, but shortest was 30 and they don't drag on the floor, so whatever. And maybe a 28 waist for jeans that aren't "skinny jeans." I'll have to go try on some other cuts sometime.

Oh, that reminds me. Pacsun had a gender neutral changing room area. =) So does the Old Navy I've shopped at in the past. Super awesome.

But for the reason I came back to the happy thread. I found out there is a chiropractor is a block away from my house (not trans related but whatever) and a gender therapist is 0.4 miles away. Yeah, WALKING DISTANCE. Or once they finish the road construction, really short bus ride. I was going to wait before pursuing therapy, but... what if I move next year? I can't drive, and don't plan on learning to/getting car/etc in the near future, so this is a great opportunity. And the therapist has even written books and contributed to books about trans issues, she seems really awesome. I just need to figure out what my medical insurance covers...

I tend to buy boys' jeans because they're cheaper and then just turn them up (because they rarely come in more than one length at the places I shop). Or I just give them to Dad to shrink in the tumble dryer. :P

I got my iPhone delivered yesterday so I've been having great fun messing around with settings and discovering new things. Most of the stuff I've learnt I could have probably learnt on my iPod before, but it's a new toy so I have extra incentive to play around. :P I've yet to try the forum on it though, I should do that soon! :D

Yesturday I found that I pulled a muscle in my abs. Not so fun but! I got to sit around and chill all day.

BEST PART

I was sitting at the computer and my mom was talking to me. Then she looked at me, rubbed my chin and said "You NEED to shave!"

Lol I didn't think I had enough hair to be noticed from more than a couple inches away but she was probably 5 feet away.

First day of vacation at the beach and I'm wearing guys' swimming trunks :D

Also, I am now minoring in gender and sexuality studies along with my psychology major. Getting closer to figuring out what I want to do with my life; I want to contribute to the trans and larger LGBT community if I can--now I just have to get through infinite more years of school to get on with it already ughhh lol

Sup singly, a superintendent prevented a student within the transgender community from changing current name, to the new name in which the student identifies with, I don't know how far back this story goes, but if you Google it under Oklahoma along with "student name change" the article should pop up. I'm not transgender, but I can relate to the process of legally getting a name change done, it's a lot of paperwork from court, a lot of traveling, and expenses depending on the laws from each state.

Wow, I guess it’s the dat to be in trouble.  I’ve been hit twice by the ASM today and it’s my day off.  Why didn’t you, followed latter with a where is the.  Made me realize that I do t want to continue working long enough to pay for it. I guess I’ll just to have to stick with my 20 year old car for now.   I suppose sooner or later only one of us won’t be able to drive anymore.  Since I am older you might think it would be me but at this time i am the one that does all the driving except when she goes to church or the store when I’m at work.  She hasn’t driven anywhere since February and hasn’t driven more than 10 miles in perhaps a year.  Yet the “good” car was purchased for her not for me because she couldn’t drive the Jeep which we bought strictly for her because she wanted it.  But it turned out I was the one that really liked it.  Can’t win.

Good morning :)   I have coffee today, but the cup keeps leaking (I guess the cap isn't able to fully seal or something), so I keep having to wipe up the sides lol   Almost finished all my missing work for school, which means if I do a bit more work, I should be out of trouble with my parents (not even that bad of trouble compared to when I was younger, more just an annoyance haha)

I'll be going to some Pride events as a spectator.  Maybe marching in a parade if they have open participation.    The event we'd prefer to go to is held in a small town with a population of less than 600.  They have a parade through all three blocks of their downtown area.  Unfortunately, this year it is on the same day as a memorial service for a friend who passed away this winter, so we'll have to miss it.  So our second choice is a larger town, population about 9000, a bit farther away.    And we are keeping our eyes open for other events in the general area as they are announced.   I dress a bit flashier than normal, with some trans bling, such as rainbow or trans flag earrings, a trans symbol pendant, and a handheld trans flag to wave.  Political sentiment is turning against us, but public sentiment here is still strongly on our side, so getting out and showing the flag, both literally and figuratively, is important.
