Ummmmm I came out to one of my oldest friends today... He was really cool about it.

My mom is calling me Tyler now and she's using male pronouns when adressing me.

And I just posted my intro on youtube. AWESOME

Oh and I'm going to be having "the talk" with my dad.

So yeah I'm stoked and happy and over flowing with emotions.

Love this thread man.

Peace-Tyler B)

Getting closer to figuring out what I want to do with my life; I want to contribute to the trans and larger LGBT community if I can--now I just have to get through infinite more years of school to get on with it already ughhh lol

I know how you feel about seemingly infinite years of schooling stretching out in front of you. :P

Meant to post this the other day, but I finally got around to going to the Social Security Card Office the other day, got my gender changed to male. It was only about an hour wait (amazingly enough,) and the lady who helped me was really awesome. I was nervous about dealing with it just cuz I guess I hate "admitting" I'm trans to other non-trans people, I much prefer to be stealth ;)

But it went well, she asked a few questions, but in the way of someone who was generally interested and wanting to understand, not in a freakshow kind of way, ya know?

So ya that was my Happy B)

Yeah, I feel like that too sometimes. lol.

Yesterday my GT told me (on the phone, I was still on-campus so we had a phone session) that my manner of speech is male. And that I'm very natural. As in, it's not like I'm trying too hard to be "male." He has told me that before about other things like the way I carry myself but I was glad to hear that about my manner of speech because that is something I am self-conscious about. Also, he said my voice sounds a little bit deeper for some reason as though I have already started T.

This is stuff totally not trans-related, but good stuff nonetheless. :)

I got a ton of stuff accomplished today. I got a new stereo in my van (Yay for being able to listen to my MP3 on the road!)

I went to Les Schwab (a tire center in the western US) to get a slow leak fixed in my van's right front tire, and when I went to pay, the guy said, "Don't worry about it." They did over an hour of work fixing that tire, and it was completely free!

I did this horrendously slow, agonizing survey thing at the mall while waiting for my car stereo to be installed, and it was so ridiculous that it demanded to be laughed at... not to mention, they paid me a dollar to do it, so I got a free soda from the mini-mart in the mall.

I finally told my parents that I wanted to start testosterone and have chest surgery, (I've been out to them for a couple of months, but haven't really talked about this before) and they're completely supportive :)

Also, I finally started the vlog I've been meaning to for ages, and discovered that my voice is so much lower when you listen to it recorded than when I listen to it when I'm speaking :D without trying to lower my voice :D (although my kiais are still distinctly high pitched. but, still, yay!) *happy dance*

I came out to my significant other, and he was awesome. We talked and talked and talked, and I got so sick of talking I wished I'd shut myself up already.

He also was far less clueless than I am, even though he had way less 'info' of what's going on inside of me than I do. He first realized the possibility a few years ago. You'd think he'd have told me! Ha.

When I asked him if he thought I'll be able to pass ok, he thought absolutely, cause apparently a lot of my mannerisms are already male (no shock, I guess - heh). I paraphrase. I believe his exact words were, "You scratch your testicles more than I do!"

So...uhm...feel like major weight has been lifted...now if only he'd go shopping so I can get more clothes than the 5 things I wear now. Too bad he hates shopping almost as much as I do.

 That's awesome!

I'm glad things worked out for the two of you. Brave the shopping, you won't have to do the washing so often then! (Think of it as reducing chores rather than gaining them. ;))

I ended up reconnecting with a friend of mine from high school at my new uni and he is totally cool about me being trans. We haven't talked about it much; I sent him a message on Facebook and he told me he got it and just said he hopes it all works out for me. That was about it, then we started talking about other things. I'm hoping he can help me meet new people because I don't really know anyone at the school except for 2 other people.

It's cool how small the world can be sometimes! I hope you get to go do some interesting stuff and make some new friends now. Just don't be TOO adventurous. :P

I'm simply enjoying some time off - finally got the hang of this holiday lark! ;)

This isn't technically trans-related, but I have two job interviews tomorrow. I'm really excited. Of course I've still been submitting resumes for other jobs, but I really really hope I get a call back. I'll be able to continue with school and begin saving up for surgery!!!

I seem to be getting a lot of good things at once, eheh :)

Mum's ordered me a binder. Mum has ordered me a binder. :D *dances*

And, I've told two more of my friends. No response as of yet, but still. Glad to see that I'm not the only one with good news/things happening :)

  • 3 weeks later...

Today we went to Woburn Safari Park and got to drive through enclosures with tigers, lions, black bears, oryx, eland, timber wolves, rhinos, zebras... :D We bypassed the monkeys because they have a habit of removing people's aerials and windscreen wipers, but then we got to walk through an enclosure with lots of spider monkeys. :) There were also some penguins having a race, and noisy lemurs. For anyone in the UK it makes an awesome day out and you should go! Tip: shop at Tesco and get your tickets using clubcard points for a free(ish) day out.

We also went to the Hawk Conservancy Trust in Andover on Saturday and saw lots of birds of prey fly: black kites, peregrines, vultures, American fish eagle, bald eagles, a secretary bird (killing a rubber snake with its feet :P)... Their displays are fantastic, and they do a huge amount of reintroduction and conservation of wild birds of prey in the UK.

Sounds like a great day-I love that kind of thing. I never saw a secretary bird w/ a rubber snake-I'd enjoy that.

Glad you had such a good time.

My happy thing today? People made me laugh. And feel loved.

So today I came out to my mom. She's emailed me this quote (along with a copy her her "DailyWord" that just happened to be "acceptance," and a link to one of my school's LGBT groups).

"Accept everything about yourself — I mean everything. You are you and that is the beginning and the end — no apologies, no regrets."

Hi all, Thanks for the warm welcome.     Yeah... The UK flag is a mistake.  I didn't notice it until I came on here today. I'm from Illinois, in the U.S.  I can't seem to find the way to change it in my profile.  Moderators?  Any ideas?     I met with my therapist today.  She thinks that this will be a good place to get started, and I am hoping I can find some support and offer support.     I'll be checking in from time to time :)

It has been about six weeks since I started the HRT journey. Today I officially "upgraded" to a new level of patch. I can't believe how giddy I was when A) the doc responded so quickly to my request for a new prescription, as I thought as I was going to have to wait a few weeks for my current one to run out; B) the pharmacy filled my new prescription so quickly -- in like an hour from when the doc emailed; and C) when I got home and put the new patch in place as quickly as possible...   Six weeks in and I would say it is subtle changes at best. But there are changes. They are just hard to describe... Sometimes I get these little rushes of emotion or mini-euphorias. Is that the hormones? I am emotional anyways, anger included ... I've noticed very subtle changes in my chest, like are my areola getting bigger? Or is it just my imagination? Are things getting smaller downstairs? Again, or just my imagination? I feel ... different ... yes a little more feminine...   I think it has surprised me how much I actually want a female chest. I keep checking it out all the time. That is brand new! But it's like I look down, notice what appear to be some changes and I say to myself, "This is going on with my body, and I like this! A lot!" Nothing ceases to amaze me anymore. I am such a mess, lol...    I feel like this patch upgrade is going to bring about more noticeable changes. Like I am really in the game now. Like the first part was just a warm up. Maybe not. But that's what it feels like.   So far, no problems with the patch itself (aside for forgetting a couple of times to take the old patch off when I put the new on one. I went a whole day once with a double-patch). Internally I think I am so ready for the next step... Externally, I feel like I am continuing to poke a hornet's nest, a den of scorpions and a mama bear all at the same time.

No one that hasn’t gone through the self perceived shame and guilt about the feelings we’ve had cannot understand 1. Why we need a therapist we trust. 2.  Why we suddenly need to talk to them. 3. Why things set us off and throw us into a bout of extreme depression.  4. Why we feel threatened even when we aren’t in immediate danger.  That threat may be only in our mind but it’s our need for reassurance.

Be careful about software bundled with your antivirus! Most likely they are using it to spy on you. As far as I know the only 2 VPN providers that actually protect your data (and delete it as soon as possible if they keep anything at all) are Proton VPN and Mulvad VPN - the latter one actually had their servers stormed by law enforcement and they walked away with nothing (cause Mulvad had no customer data to offer). I would avoid antiviruses altogether tbh, they're not a magic cure for internet safety and the built in one from Microsoft does its job well enough. If you're not on WIndows you don't even need one - just be smart about what you download of course.   Your web browser asking you to turn it off is probably because the browser would prefer to know your real location, just ignore it or pick a better browser, like Firefox.

It was stupid of me, the cop was in front of me in a u-turn cut in a spot I know about. I was running a little late because of the slow truck, and the cop happened to be there today. It is like one of only three places for a speed trap on my commute. I usually don’t speed as I try to leave enough of a time buffer in the morning.

The worst possible scenario is 4 points on my license, which a defensive driving course will negate it. I had considered getting a lawyer, but it is probably not worth the expense.
    • Ivy
Yeah, I was puzzling on that too…

Good luck maam 😊 I’ve experienced that they’ll lower the points , if you show up in court and pay the ticket.
