WOMAN IN WAITING

Inside this shell of bone and skin,

She waits her patient turn;

A self-made prison lies within,

For the light her hunger burns.

Who is this waif so long forgot,

Sore imprisoned here for years?

Her calls for freedom fell for naught

Crying unseen and unfelt tears.

The female me is who awaits,

Her freedom call now clear;

At threshold now stands tall and straight,

Her ransom paid so dear.

At cost so vast she's earned the right

To take her place among the best.

Walking proudly in the new day's light,

Never more to be oppressed.

A newly minted woman waits,

To sing her sweetest song;

Stepping out from prison gates,

Into the world she now belongs.

I love it Carolyn. It really is like a prison that we are stepping out of if you really start to think about it. We kept our true identity locked up for all these years without any daylight. Now we are slowly letting them see the light and in your case you are almost out of prison. I look forward to the day Sarah is out of prison. I hope you are out very soon.
