HRC Calls Police To Stop Houston Dinner Protest by Transgendered http://www.bilerico.com/2008/04/hrc_calls_..._dinner_pro.php

Since the ENDA debacle last fall where HRC betrayed the Transgender Community by dropping our Inclusion I have received a very small number of emails urging restraint on our part. Some actually agreed that it was just politics not malice and that the public isn't ready for us yet. I think the link above shows the true nature of HRC and why they shouldn't be trusted to negotiate for us. The truth is that 360 LGB prganizations stood by us HRC is the only only one who didn't. Since then HRC has offered money in the form of grants to at least one transgender organization in order to save face. This has angered many in our community who criticized the organization who accepted their money. Can a lepord change it's spots? Certainly HRC's track record with us proves they cannot. Meanwhile Trans organizations have been peacefully protesting HRC's fund raising dinners. HRC's response was to call the cops and prevent our first amendment rights. Their policy seems to be to keep Transgender people out of site and out of mind.

Looks like HRC is beginning to feel the wrath of the transgender community. I feel that we are finally becoming a force to be reckoned with.. Perhaps HRC is beginning to get the message.

I think that the more successful TSs we have come out and show their support, the more powerful we will become. Right now it's kind of in that state where we are still a bit alienated from most of society, but within the next 5-10 years I can see that changing drastically in most areas. This is just another sign of the times coming ;)
