Well, I finally got an appointment with a proper doctor at a proper clinic for proper people with proper gender and sexual problems. It's a place in Glasgow that specialise in this stuff. So that's great! I'm pretty happy! Soon enough I'll be able to talk to someone face-to-face about all this stuff and say "hey! buddy. The junk in my trunk is the wrong trunk and the wrong junk. Hell, I don't think this is even the right model of car!" But enough with that crappy metaphor.

So, here's the sad part... The appointment isn't 'til October!!! Ah! *dramatic pose* I can't stand the wait! The ticking seconds mocking me with their increasingly slowing pace! E-gah! *slump* Weh mir, oh weh...

Gasky, I am in the same position, having to wait to see, my Endo for the first time in late October, more than 6 months after requesting an appt. Waiting sucks, but least you got an appt and thats a huge first step. Congrats to you, on it.

Gasky-Yea!! You are well and truly on your way.

I'd be doing cartwheels if I thought I'd be able to see a gender therapist that soon.(This would not necessarily be a good thing for me-the "more life experienced" as a general rule should NOT turn cartwheels!) and I've wanted to be in Scotland-land of my ancestors for decades!

Lucky You!! The time will pass- next thing you know you'll be posting about your incredible first visit.

Heh, this bit made me lol.

Congrats on the appointment. Is it for a psych to refer you on or is the place a GIC?

The waiting game sucks, but at least now the time is ticking down eh? *is waiting too* :P

*blank expression*

I do not know what GIC stands for.

Sorry, it means 'gender identity clinic'. I figured the Scottish system would be the same as the English one. In England they're the places that all transition related stuff is done for trans people, I guess you could say. To get referred to one, you have to go see a psych first. How does the Scottish system work?

I don't know what they call it. From what I gather it's just known as the "Sandyford Initiative." Their tagline/subtitle thing basically says they're for helping with sexual, reproductive and emotional health. But apparently they DO have a small team of people that work with transgender people, so, all should be well. If not they can always put me somewhere else.
