I Can Never Leave

Once I told everyone that I could never leave here

Because I had nowhere else to go absolutely nowhere

And at the time it was true I was living in a place

With no acceptance and Sally never showed her face

I was living a solitary life

In a house filled with strife

Never able to be myself forever he

That was all anyone wanted to see

I have left behind that suffocation

With New Orleans as my destination

I have found a home in every sense of the word

Full of love like the homes of which I had heard

Now I stay for my friends and so much more

For all of my children the ones I so adore

Once you have found a place to share your love

The only better place would be heaven above

There is a place where I give all of my love and do my part

And in return my friends and children always fill my heart

It never becomes too much for me to do

It cannot be for it is where I met you

All of you the people who share my love, my life

I could not feel closer to family or even a wife

You hold me here not by any strength or force

Except the power of all your love of course

I am here to help but in reality I stay

Because your love makes me feel this way

So here I will always be found

Just as long as you are around
