Power of a simple sentence

Carried in a few words

Radically changing one's life

Many years

I've been battling

A constant war over my body size

Approaching anorexia to heavily overweight

With every stage in between.

During this time

What i thought as my "ideal" weight

Rising alarm bells among my friends

Over my eating pattern and health.

How dos one explain

Years of jokingly teasing

Whether by cruel teasing or not

Have on my self body image.

Lean is in

No matter what

It's effect on you

One kilo over

Is one too many.

Dread having to go

For my monthly dietitian visit

Scared i've added more weight on

Know i have to keep my weight stable

But it's a hard struggle.

Every month of weight gain

Is a month of failure

To myself and my body image.

Fueling my depression

While seeking comfort in the very foods

That have added to my weight issue

Restarting the viscous cycle

All over again.

Sigh

Must be a middle ground

Where body image and healthy weight meet

Never fearing to step on a scale.
