Altering The Shaft Of Boots

I bought a pair of knee high boots today and I love them to death. They fit great around my foot and were decently priced too (I even got 10% off because their debit wasn't working). There's just one problem: I'm an 11w and the only 11w they had was with the extended calf which I don't need. The calves are huge. To put it in perspective, I can reach my arm down behind my leg and scratch my foot comfortably inside the shaft. That is a LOT of extra space.

I was wondering if it's possible to have the boot altered to fit my calves and how expensive it would be. Anyone ever done this?

Thanks in advance

Nat
