Happy Life.. But?

Hello. Let me introduce my self. I'm an FTM, has been running T for 9months now. I'm a chinese person who live in jakarta which is the capital city of Indonesia. My life here is very happy at all. I was a bachelor degree of art. I have a beautiful girlfriend, and our relationship has run more than 5 years. She is a bachelor degree of art too (classical pianist). My plan is to open a music school (in progress, but because of this problem, I still consider it). I am very grateful for what I have.

But..

2 things :

1. My parents still can't accept my situation dress like men. They still expect me to dress up like women. They did not know I had run HRT. I understand they need time to accept my confessions. My mother still can speak well, although it seems so difficult to her to accept my situations but my father was unable to accept my circumstances. He always say, you are a woman be a woman, even though I've explained a lot. He said, I never can accept it.

2. Many people who meet me for the first time called me as Sir, Mr, but my identity card is still listed me as a female. In my country, it's very difficult to change gender identity. There are about 5 people who successed to change his/her gender identity card but they became media spotlights. It's not really safe here to be media spotlights. We can be criticized by certain groups. They strongly opposed. Well, One of my hobby is weight lifting in a gym, and I still go into women's locker room, I really feel uncomfortable, because I feel as a man who entered the women's locker room.

Honestly, I want to be recognized as men with a male identity card.

And if you live in countries that accept transgender status and have a job to me, I'll be interested. I think this is good for my future life as a transgender. Me and my girlfriend are diligent, don't drink alcohol, don't smoke, very responsible, very discipline, and loyal to the job.

Thank you to read this :)

If you have oppinion or suggestion, I'll be glad.

Regards,

V

Hello, honey, and welcome to the Playground. I'm so sorry your post didn't get answered right away, but it was early morning in the U.S.

and it happens sometimes.

It sounds like you are doing well in your transition, and you are lucky indeed to have an understanding and supportive girlfriend. But I am

sorry to hear about your struggles with your family. If you read through the forums, you will see that you're certainly not alone in those

struggles.

There are many places in the world that are relatively easy to transition in, particularly if you have the financial means. America is one

such place.

Please post in the forums, V, and you will receive answers to your questions, support and friendship.

HUGS

#carolyn : Hi Carolyn, thank you for your attention and I'm sorry it took so long to reply. I'm pretty busy today. I agree, America is a appropriate choice. Where do you live? How do people respond to you?

#jj : Hi jj. I know for sure that many cases like mine. Where do you live? Do you like living at there? Thanks jj

I live in California, in the Los Angeles area.

People have responded very well to me so far, V. I am not full time yet, but I have about 10-12 co-workers who know and who have been very supportive, and my encounters with random people I meet, including sales staff and waiters and such have been great. I have had no problems, but perhaps I am just lucky. What's that old saying, "Its better to be lucky than smart." :)

I live in Arkansas and while I love the mountains and climate it is not friendly to trans people. Or any other diversity.

And it is the poorest state in the US so I couldn't recommend it.to anyone coming in to the US.

hi vidanjali !! i know exactly what you mean, i do have a few trans and otherwise queer friends nearby me but currently i present as 'cis' for obvious reasons so it's not all that easy for me to reach out and find that kind of community (though i do love my irls!!)   but yeah, i get this weird paranoia that if i come out to too many people it'll end up tracing back to my folks (not everyone knows my family is homophobic and being outed is a big fear of mine)   but im sooo happy to know that that feeling was just dysphoria !! i thought i was going crazy for a minute !!.   thanks so much for welcoming me, and you have a great day too !!

hi susan!! thats very much how i feel !! i have no issue explaining my gender or educating other people on transness but it feels like im talking to a brick wall of misinformation even if they are well-meaning and accepting people ! but thank you anyways for welcoming me here !!

This is a fairly long video by Philosophy Tube,  (Abigail Thorne)  Discussing some of Judith Buttler's work and related stuff.   I wasn't sure where to post it, so if there is a better place, move it.

I have a fantastic therapist. She is so caring she has helped me open up so much. Unfortunately, She is ending her internship. Do to a hiring freeze at the VA she isn't going just go right into a position there.  My Endo is out of the Denver VA hospital. I haven't talked with her in probably 2 yrs. I am  looking to transfer providers and get back to seeing a GYN at the Cheyenne VA.

Shopping at the mall today and helping out at Torrid I excused myself to the restroom. The manager told me the restroom at JC Penny was much closer (I normally use the family restroom in the food court).   Upon arrival I discovered that JC Penny doesn't have a family restroom, it's either or.   The men's room was occupied with customers, and me going in with large breasts, long hair, and makeup was going to cause a stir, so I opted for the woman's room instead. I was the only one in the woman's room.    Texas state law does state that your must use the restroom that matches your chromosomes, and it's a misdemeanor to not do so, but it seemed to be the best choice (I really needed to go!)

I had some guy grab my butt on the ship.  I don't know how "real" it was, but I did not enjoy that at all.  Also did not enjoy the hazing I saw other people going through.  One person can only do so much to stop that when there are 10 people doing it.

I pulled this out of a stack of old military mementos yesterday.  I guess I didn't realize how cool this one was because I did so much of this kind of thing back then.

This internet video thing is pretty amazing.  I'd call it Zoom, but there are other platforms out there.  I prefer Zoom over Teams because Zoom puts me and everyone else in the same picture.  I like seeing the whole group in one shot.  Teams of course is about having so many people that you can't get them in the shot, or is it?   Just saying that I have never met any of my counselors in person.  Doctors, of course I have and I am lucky there.  They are 3.5 miles from my house as is the main transgender surgery place in town.  I've been doing virtual visits with the medical doctors lately though.  It feels like once I became steady state, they don't need to interact with me physically that much.  I have enjoyed going into their office in my nice clothing.
