Need Advice And Or Support

Hello everyone,

My name is James and I am new here.

I am hoping that some of you might be willing to offer advise to help with this. After many years of self deception and denial I recentlly came to accept that I am a male inside a female body. I am having an extremely hard time dealing with this by myself. I know of noone who has gone through this rebirth that I can talk to.

I am hoping that maybe some of you who have been though this voyage of true self discovery might be willing to offer advice on how to deal with all of the stress and emotions involved with knowing that I need to start a transition to become a male. On one hand I am joyfull that I finally know who I really am but I am also frightened by how my family and friends will react if I tell them.

If someone could offer some support, advice or suggestions I would sincerely appreciate it.

Thank you for your help.

Hey, James!! Welcome.

This was a recent AHA!! discovery for me too (after years of denial). At first I was freaked out, then accepting, now I can't transition fast enough and don't really care what others think. For the first time I feel normal and like ME. I'm not on T yet but close. Find a good therapist. They are invaluable!! I had to find a new one when I came out to my first one; she wasn't as helpful or supportive as she thought she could be and was very discouraging.

And we're here for you too.

Jay

P.S. Your background sounds very similar to mine!

James, Welcome!

We are definitely here to help answer questions. Congratulations on coming out to yourself. From my experience that's the hardest person to come out to really. Everyone else just runs a close second. ;) Like Jay said, a good therpist is will be able to help-a lot. I think Venting on here helps a ton too.

Something really important to remember when you think of the scariness of telling others is - if they care about your happiness, then your transition will (maybe not even at first) eventually be ok with them. But you have to be strong in your resolve.

Hope we see you around often. We're here for you!

Ray

Hi there, James. I think finding a good therapist is a necessary first step. As for me, I'm pretty new to this process myself. I've always known what I was inside, but denied it because I worried that I would lose everyone who is close to me if I was honest. Now I'm starting to admit things to myself and am starting therapy.

Welcome to the forums. I think you'll find people here that understand what you are going through.
