Cynthia,

It looks like it is still in limbo. Which means it is still in effect. Any ruling by a judge (except for the Supreme Court) can be challenged and a stay (or temporary stoppage) of the ruling can requested by interested parties.

This has been done. So until that stay is heard by the judge, nothing has changed.

Now, if the judge denies the stay, she will still have to hear the challenge.

And the military can at its leisure during the challenge continue to enforce the policy. It would be nice if a judge's ruling meant immediately effective but this seems to apply only to individuals who otherwise cannot afford expensive lawyers to continue requesting stays or challenges.

Most likely, if the ruling is left standing, the judge will create some kind of timetable. And of course, whatever ruling she makes after any stay (if done) will immediately be appealed to the next higher court.

Which means - it's still in limbo, and nothing has changed.

Stay tuned

Hugs

Chloë

By admitting to being openly gay, men are admitting to being guilty of an Article of the UCMJ. And even if the DADT is done away with and Gays are allowed to openly serve, they're still going to have to put up with ignorant people who think of them as freaks. And unless they've changed the Uniformed Code of Military Justice (UMCJ), any actively gay person is subject to be tried under article 125 for Sodomy which is a Federal Conviction. The sad thing is, many heterosexual couples are guilty of the same thing, but no one would think of asking and or prosecuting them.

I know it's not fair, but there are still a lot of people out there who can't just let people live their lives. Women had to fight to be accepted in the military and they still have trouble. Gays are going to have to put up with 100 times the difficulty the ladies had.

And it's the same for Teachers, Scoutmasters, and anyone who works with groups of people young or old. I myself served 20 years in the Air Force, was a Scoutmaster for over 5 years, a Co-Leader for the Girl Scouts, and a Sunday School leader, but had anyone known about my cross dressing or desires to be female, I'd have been branded as a deviant and not allowed to do any of it. My mother even told me that had any of my teachers been gay that she wouldn't have allowed them to teach me.

But as each day passes, I live with the hope that the world will become more accepting. In the 60's, two men kissing on TV wouldn't have been allowed and Gays wouldn't have been allowed to openly march.

But now days, they've begun producing male facial products and clothing in fabrics that only women wore. And sex changes are coming down in price. The world is slowly changing, so don't give up hope.

The Obama admin has stated in the last few days they're going to challenge this because its a law and they really have no choice since it's a law they have to defend it. :banghead: They could do nothing and this would go away. They're going to challenge it.

Oh, the Obama admin sent the justice dept to challenge the immigration law in Arizona a while back because that was unfair and they didn't like it.

As I've said over and over here, these two parties are a joke. What's more important to the Dem party is the Mexican voting block than the LGBT voting block. Sure, they'll take the LGBT voting block, but they also don't want to upset the unions where there are a lot of homophobs in their ranks. So I believe they never wanted the DADT vote to come up in the senate and they allowed a few of their members to join with the GOP so there was never an official DADT vote on any bill just the filibuster.

Yeah, the Obama administration is being pretty disingenuous about all of this. They say they want Congress to repeal the law, but

in an election year that haven't push Congress to do it. They have a short window in the lame duck session, but if they fail or do

nothing, and the Republicans get the majority next year, you can forget about DADT ever being repealed.

It will then be up to the courts, and that's a crap shoot at best.

I HATE politics. Hate it, hate it, HATE it!!!

Carolyn,

I never trusted Obama because I know where he's from and it's where I'm from. You don't rise up here as a reformer. If you try you get crushed before you get a chance to make a name.

He's been passing the buck on DADT since he got in yet a group of military lawyers set the path so not a single member of the military had to lose their job since at lease June 2009. Well before this election year.

Issue the executive order and it stops.

I sure wouldn't trust the court order, unless it stands up to the test of time. I was talking to an out coworker the other day, he asked what I've been doing. So I told him about dealing with the VA and that I was facilatating a transgender group, at the local LGBT center. He just turned around and walked away. Didn't say a thing. We worked together for about 15 yrs. And we were good friend, I thought!! That's proof of the good UAW union love for trans folks....Billijo

>DADT Repeal only affects Gay, Lesbian and Bisexual citizens openly serving the armed forces of the USofA.

>DADT Repeal does not affect the laws, regulations or rules that ban Transgender and Intersex citizens serving the armed forces of the USofA.

-So our Gay, Lesbian and Bisexual brothers and sisters will be able to openly serve when DADT is repealed. Honestly, at this point in time if the PotUS doesn't move his lame donkey and push Congress to do the same the courts may end up governing the USofA in lieu of the 'Do Nothing' Congress and PotUS.

-Sadly, I do have a few contacts within the Trans community that has been working the issues to include Trans and IS issues within the body of the repeal language but its just not going to happen in the near future. The best I think you'll see is mental health support and maybe HRT until the end of the person's contract and then discharge with no options given for re-enlistment. Maybe after the DSM V comes out, that may change. I certinaly hope it changes for the better.

Good afternoon everyone,   I often wondered why @April Marie and @Willowgot up so early in spite of being retired. Now that I have my own puppy as a house pet I get it. We haven't had dogs since before my oldest granddaughter was born 22 years ago this September. I've always had working hunting dogs, and it was important they became acclimated to the current weather conditions. While the kennels had large outdoor runways, they also had pet passes into the somewhat temperature controlled garage. Yes, they were allowed in the house but only for short periods of time. Fast forward to present time, and I'm potty training a puppy as well as crate training. The first night Parker Von Schwinegruber, slept from 10:30 until 05:30. Last night we went to bed and 10:30 and he started making noise at 05:00. Since I don't want to test his ability to hold his business, we got up and went outside. He took care of business and we went back to sleep. This time he had a dental chew bar and I filled his water bowl. We cat napped until 08:00 and then got up for the day taking him immediately outside. He took care of business, and we played fetch and tug of war with his now favorite puffball. We came in and I put him back in the crate positioned so he could see me cook breakfast. Did he NO HE WENT TO SLEEP! We ate breakfast, did the dishes, and finished off the pot of coffee I brewed at 08:00. Once he woke up we stared at one another for about 20 minutes, because he seemed content to be in the crate. I got up and we worked on some obedience training as well as getting into and out of the crate with permission. We don't want him to crash the gate or any doors we will be going through.   Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

I have not heard about it here in California, but then again we have events of various sorts going on very often, and not just in the June Pride Month.  We have Trans Fashion Week going on at a hotel complex over in West Los Angeles for the next three nights featuring shows by Trans fashion designers and modeled by Trans and NB people on the runways there.  I missed a chance for some free tickets and while I know and love many of the participants I do not want to pay for the tickets which will be in the $50 to $75 range, and which at those prices are nearly sold out.  (Not to mention $25 valet parking each night at the venue complex.).  There will be actual high end fashion buyers there though and it is an area where we are gaining some good footing.  I also admit that NONE of the fashions are going to be anything at all that would fit my basic personal style but look fine if not crazy on my much younger Trans siblings who will model them. (Ok everyone else keep on @Mirrabooka's topic.)

Welcome to TransPulseForums @gizgizgizzie    I hope you find this place as helpful as I do. I’m also in a slow transition living in the androgynous world. I’m out to my grown children and my extended family with mixed support from them. Some have cut me out of their lives and others want me to be their flamboyant family member.    Best wishes, stay positive and motivated    Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Accidents happen.  So do heat-of-the-moment murders, without premeditation or trans-related hate.  It will take a trial to really figure it out.     One thing we can see from this is that it is people in our circles of acquaintances, friends, and partners who are the ones who usually hurt us.  Not someone random. We have to be careful who we trust.

Friday May 17th is IDAHOBIT (International Day Against HOmophobia, BIphobia and Transphobia).   Do you acknowledge or celebrate it? Do you do anything special for it, like taking part in any organized events or activities?   I'm not an activist and I prefer to fly under the radar, but I am slowly becoming aware of important dates. I have been aware of the date of IDAHOBIT for a few weeks now, but other important 'rainbow' dates have not been etched into my brain yet.    I will wear my favorite pride t-shirt as a token acknowledgement of the day, but it probably won't be seen; cool weather here will mean that it will be hidden under a sweater.

Happiness for me comes from being cognizant of the things that make me feel good.   Sunshine.   Pandering to my inner woman.   Knowing that some people in my life really 'know' me.   Vacations, and Eggs Benedict at an alfresco cafe.   My wife and I being telepathic.   Grandchildren.   Music.   Wine!

True.  Every trans death is not a hate crime. There is so much hate expressed by some people, that we kinda get to expect it.

happiness to me is being ME. At all times, and it has yet to happen.

Hello & welcome, giz! Your post makes me remember how excited I was to join here too. I also had queer friends at the time I joined, but any of my trans friends lived a long distance away. So most local queer friends are gay & I felt uncomfortable coming out to them bc I couldn't assume they'd understand genderqueerness. So it was a thrill to join here and immediately have access to do many wonderful, genuine, kind & thoughtful friends-to-be.   Are you saying you're concerned that if you come out to your queer friends that somehow your parents will find out?     My love, I just want to affirm that that's not a weird dysphoria. It's just dysphoria. And we definitely get it. You're in good company here!     Look forward to seeing you around here & getting to know you. I shoot for androgynous appearance as well, leaning towards masculine.   Hope you're having a splendid day!

Listening to a YouTube mix for me and this song came up and I immediately fell in love again and just want to play music with like minded musicians playing OUR music and feel the joy and fulfillment even if no one else gets it. I love to fall into the music....
