First Appointment With Gender Therapist

So, I just finished up with my first appointment with the gender therapist. We didn't really get into trans issues or anything yet. Still, it felt really good to admit things out loud, to a real person that have only lived in my own thoughts up to this point. I also really liked the therapist. He seemed very knowledgeable and cool with whatever. He wasn't judgmental at all. It was awesome!

Well, it seems like my journey is off to a decent start so far. Let's see what is on the horizon.

...just sharing.

I set up an appointment for this coming Wednesday. This is costing me a chunk of change, but I think it is worth it.

I've had my second appointment with my gender therapist; and my 4th since coming out with my original. I can't afford both, so I'm going to have to go with the gender therapist for now.

Awesome Dude!! Its really nice to get a good therapist and not a gatekeeper. Keep us posted on your progress.

Ray - I talked to my therapist on visit 1 about why I was there and what I wanted to figure out - by the 4th visit she offered to write me a letter. She doesn't see herself as a gatekeeper, and she believes that it is better for my overall health to be able to have access to the hormones. There was no maybe this or maybe that, or do this first and then do that and then maybe you'll get the letter or anything like that.

Well, I'm personally coming up on my 9th appointment this Friday. She's the type who wants to follow the standards of care to a T, so I haven't had any luck yet when I've approached the subject of hormones. Living full-time as a male for a month and a half now, so I think I'll need those last 3 visits and another month and a half of maleness before she'll consider it.

I understand her concern; T is a lot less reversible than, say, estrogen is, but it's really wearing my patience thin.
