Tin Foil And Duck Tape

Well I may not be rich and famous,

But I have more love than money can buy.

I don't wear any three piece suit,

I'm a tee-shirt and jeans type of guy.

I won't be seen at all them fancy places downtown

But babe, climb on up in the truck and I'll show you around.

I don't eat caviar or sip drinks of fancy kinds

I prefer Barbeque, and a case of cold bud light.

I don't know of any popular places to take you on a date

But I know of a real good spot, where we can watch the stars by the lake.

I'm not good with words, and sometimes have trouble expressing the way I feel

Trust me though, it'll be hard to find another love this real

I'm honest to a fault, play my music too loud

sometimes I get rowdy, and knock a guy out.

I make my mistakes, after all I'm just a man

But I remember to say "yes sir" and "yes ma'am"

I get mad and cuss, and can be meaner than a striped snake

But when it comes to doin wrong, I'll man up and take the blame.

I don't have shining armor, or a fancy red cape,

But honey, if you really want a prince charming, then I can make armor out of tin foil and duct tape

Funnily enough this fits surprisingly well with "Money can't buy me love" if, like me, you're a huge fan of The Beatles (say what you will but the four Liverpudlian boys that changed the world are sacred in my household).

But that was a very good poem, very down to Earth and not la-dee-da and uppity.

That's what happened to me with, "If the phone don't ring it's me"

I didn't write the song completely but I did express the entire concept and actually used the phrase in a conversation at a nation convention of Record store managers with a lot of label reps hanging around and before long, I heard this song on the radio- oh well fame and fortune are highly overrated.
